Self-smoothing wearing surface.
PUMP APPLICATION
Mix in accordance with the pump manufacturers recommendations and adjust the rate of water flow until the mix is a smooth fluid, uniform grey liquid with no surface separation. Flow checks should be carried out at regular intervals during pumping.
APPLICATION
Pour the mixed material onto the prepared subfloor and allow to flow and attain a smooth finish. Minimal work with a smoothing trowel is required. A spiked roller should be used immediately to eliminate entrapped air and smooth out flow lines to give a more uniform surface appearance. The mixed material should be applied at a thickness between 5mm to 15mm. For optimum smoothing and levelling characteristics , an overall thickness of at least 5mm should be maintained.
DRYING / OVERCOATING
Drying is dependent on the absorbency of the subfloor, ambient temperature and humidity. On both absorbent surfaces and non-absorbent surfaces, at a nominal 5mm thickness, the compound will be ready to receive STOPGAP SEAL after a minimum of 6 hours.
STOPGAP SEAL is designed to protect the surface from spillage of water or other fluids. Please refer to the STOPGAP SEAL data sheet. If required, the surface may be sealed with other epoxy coatings / paints for aesthetic reasons, greater slip resistance in the wet or to improve chemical resistance. Please consult Technical Service Department for specific products.
NOTE
When used as a finish in domestic or design feature installations, it should be noted that consistency of colour / finish cannot be guaranteed. This is down to the naturally sourced components used within STOPGAP 800 and variations in mixing and application methods. To minimise such colour variation, material should be selected from the same batch date of manufacture. Colour differences do not effect the overall high performance of this product. This product is not recommended for external use. We do not recommend applying subsequent layers of STOPGAP 800 as this can lead to surface pinholing / irregularities.
STOPGAP 800 is a self-smoothing commercial and industrial grade floor compound used for upgrading and renovating new and existing internal floors in light to heavy duty applications where floor coverings are not required to be installed. It is suitable for use in areas such as storerooms, post rooms, workshops, corridors, warehouses etc. STOPGAP 800 is grey in colour.
STOPGAP 800 is dimensionally stable and is supplied as a pre-blended dry powder, which is designed for application between 5-15mm. It is protein-free which allows it to be used in biologically sensitive areas.
STOPGAP 800 is for application over a wide range of subfloor types including sand / cement screed, concrete, granolithic, terrazzo, epoxy and polyurethane resins and STOPGAP waterproof surface membranes.
In areas where water or other fluids may come into direct contact with the cured material, the surface must be sealed with STOPGAP SEAL. This also helps to protect the floor surface and ease maintenance by reducing the adhesion of dirt and other debris.
STOPGAP 800 can also be pump applied.
COVERAGE
A 25kg bag of STOPGAP 800 mixed with 4.75 litres of clean water will cover approximately 3.0 m² at a thickness of 5 mm.
TECHINCAL INFORMATION
SURFACE PREPARATION
Floor surfaces must be suitably prepared: sound, dry (<75%RH) and free from contaminants that may prevent adhesion. Use STYCCOCLEAN C140 for removing grease, oil, polish soap etc. from non-absorbent substrates. Concrete and sand/cement screeds must be fully cured and any laitance or surface treatments must be removed. The temperature of the floor must be maintained above 10°C throughout the application and drying of the compound. Underfloor heating must be off for at least 48 hours before, during and after application.
PRIMING - IT IS ESSENTIAL TO PRIME ALL SURFACES Absorbent surfaces – Prime with a minimum 2 coats of dilute STOPGAP P131 to prevent uncontrolled rapid drying of the compound which may lead to surface pin holing, poor flow characteristics, surface imperfections and colour variation. Very absorbent surfaces may need additional coats of primer. If applying over STOPGAP 600, this should be done within 24 hours and the surface should first be primed with a dilute coat of primer followed by a neat coat.
Non-absorbent surfaces - such as terrazzo, quarry tiles and STOPGAP waterproof surface membranes should be primed with neat STOPGAP P141.
Apply the primer using a soft brush and do not extend the stated coverage. Site and substrate conditions vary, the chosen priming system should be evaluated over a trial area to ensure an optimum surface finish.
Alternatively, STOPGAP F77 may be used as a priming system in conjunction with a kiln dried grit 0.7-1.2mm:
Damp subfloors: Install STOPGAP F77 waterproof surface membrane as directed and within 24 hours apply a second coat of STOPGAP F77. Whilst still wet, fully blind the surface with the grit and allow to cure before vacuuming away all loose grit and installing STOPGAP 800.
Dry, absorbent subfloors: Apply one coat of STOPGAP F77 and whilst still wet, fully blind the surface with the grit and allow to cure before vacuuming away all loose grit and installing STOPGAP 800.
MIXING
Add 4.75 litres of clean water into a STOPGAP mixing bucket and gradually add all the powder whilst stirring with a power whisk fitted in an electric drill until a smooth creamy lump free consistency is achieved. The material should be mixed for a minimum of 2 minutes.
WATER ADDITION
4.5 litres minimum - 5.0 litres maximum per 25kg depending on consistency and flow properties required. Do not exceed 5.0 litres of water per 25kg bag.
