  • Proven spans of up to 10 m between supports, eliminating expensive secondary steelwork.
  • Excellent air tight performance provided by robust, sealed and structurally connected joints.
  • Available as a fire-resistance rated insulated system assembly when combined with APL Tritherm™ Spacer System, with simple system upgrades for improved fire resistance performance
  • Acoustic performance of 45 dB as standard and a U-value up to 0.11 W/m²K.
  • An extra 3% net-lettable area.
  • No projecting or visible internal fixings, with a variety of finishes available.
  • Up to 40-year warranty available on both the coating and the substrate, including for marine environments.
  • Flexibility as ALL facade types are compatible (specified elsewhere).
  • Quick and simple lifting and installation using standard MEWPs at a rate of c.1000 m²/week per gang.

Material

Steel.

Manufacturer guidance

Steel - Thickness as required to meet spanning performance (consult APL) with visible face coating as:

Interior polyester + heavy duty protective film between panel faces OR External polyester.

Primary fasteners

Non-penetrative steel Hilti (or similar) shot fired pins into steel.

Manufacturer guidance

Use correct colour grade Cartridges to ensure no bulging or through penetration in support steels.

End and side laps

APL P191/HH fixings.

Guidance for specification option:

APL P191/HH fixings at 50 mm crs in from each panel end then equally spaced at max 500 mm crs generally - at max 400 crs for fire rated areas; Sidelaps must be stitched as each adjacent panel is laid and include StrongBak™ bracing, SpanBreakers and load transfer bracing stools to cavity side as required; Use P105/SB6 sealant to all vertical/horizontal structural supports to maintain air-seal; use 2no runs P103/SB sealant to all sidelaps

Manufacturer guidance

Liner sheet End laps: N/A – butt and / or continuity section joints as system requirements.

Air and vapour control layer

-

Sealing

Weather and air seal penetrations with two runs of double sided vapour sealing tape not less than 50 mm wide each and additional continuous band of sealant tape to outer edges to pipes ducts and structural members etc. which pass through to maintain air and VCL integrity; also at detail/junction assemblies; use minium FR-rated breather membrance to all junctions, abutments, openings and under all perimeter cappings.

Spacers

Tritherm Spacer System℗ for vertical external profile.

Guidance for specification option:

P600 + P601 Vertical Zeds at max 1200 mm crs fixed to StrongBak flanges; P546 Isopad with P157 HH Bracket (depth as required for thermal/acoustic performance)as required at max 600 mm crs fixed to vertical P600; Horizontal Zed P600 + P601 fixed to P157 HHB.

Tritherm Spacer System℗ for horizontal external profile.

Guidance for specification option:

P600 + P601 Vertical Zeds at max 1200 mm crs fixed to StrongBak flanges; P546 Isopad with P157 HH Bracket (depth as required for thermal/acoustic performance)as required at max 600 mm crs fixed to vertical P600; Vertical Zed P600 + P601 fixed to P157 HHB..

Acoustic insulation

A1-rated with thickness and performance specification as required to meet performance.

Guidance for specification option:

Contact manufacturer for details and insert details as required.

Thermal insulation

A1-rated with thickness and performance specification as required to meet performance.

Guidance for specification option:

A1-rated, thickness as required to meet U-value requirement, with minimum lambda of 0.040 for all calculation purposes and min density of 10-12 kg/m²:

  • Within StrongBak™ Kassette: 33 kg/m³ density, use P211/ Insulation Pins with P534 Washer at three per m², bonded to liner sheet with P663 Adhesive.
  • Outside StrongBak™ Kassette: thickness and specification as required to meet thermal and acoustic performance, allow 10% compression to ensure flutes of external profile are filled; use P211/Insulation Pins with P534 at three per m² mechanically fixed to StrongBak™ flanges.

Refer to the relevant U-value table in the supporting literature.
