Application

It is suitable for use in new build timber frame building projects, and can be used as an alternative to Robust Details.

Principal applications will be new domestic dwellings - houses and apartments constructed using timber frame where an enhanced level of sound insulation is sought in the separating floors.

Description

The HD1029 Hush System TF from Hush Acoustics is a sound insulation system that can be used as an alternative to Robust Details for separating floors in timber frame construction.

It provides a performance level that exceeds the minimum requirements for all UK Building Regulations - Approved Document E (England & Wales), Part G (Northern Ireland) and section 5 (Scotland).

How HD1029 is formed:

  • Hush Panel 48 acoustic floorboards, all of which feature tongue and groove joints glued using Hush Bond, are laid over the floor deck as per manufacturer’s instructions, with all perimeters sealed using Hush Seal 20.
  • Hush Slab 100 acoustic insulation slabs are fitted between the joists with Hush Bar Deep resilient bars - which is used to optimise acoustic performance by virtually decoupling the ceiling from the joists or a wall lining from the wall construction - fixed to the underside of the joists at 450mm centres and at right angles to the joists.
  • 2 x layers of 15 mm Soundbloc board are then secured to Hush Bar Deep resilient bars, with all perimeters sealed prior to skimming.

Acoustic Performance*:

  • Impact (L’nT,w): 51 dB.
  • Airborne (DnT,w): 58 dB.
  • Airborne (DnT,w + Ctr): 50 dB.

* Results based on the full Hush System HD1029 being used within timber frame construction with a minimum of a 225 mm 'I' joist.

Features and benefits:

  • Building Regulations Approved Document E (England & Wales), Technical Handbook Section 5 (Scotland) and Technical Handbook G (Northern Ireland) compliant.
  • Can be used as an alternative to Robust Details in timber frame construction.
