Description

The Raychem ACS-30 system provides electronic control and monitoring for multi-circuit heat tracing applications, including pipe frost protection, surface snow melting, hot water temperature maintenance, gutter and roof de-icing, temperature flow maintenance, and electrical underfloor heating.

The Raychem ACS-30 can control up to 260 heat tracing circuits of any application, from a single user interface, allowing building owners and facilities managers to monitor and manage their Building's heat tracing systems from a single point.

Power and control modules (PCMs) can be positioned throughout the building in accordance with the building system requirements. Multiple PCMs can be connected together providing a complete view of the buildings heat tracing systems.

ACS-30-EU-UIT2 User Interface Terminal (UIT):

User interface module for the ACS-30 control and monitoring system, for control and monitoring up to 260 heating cable circuits. Up to 52 PCMs may be connected to each UIT.

  • Panel mounted touchscreen display.
  • 22 cm XGA colour touchscreen display.
  • RS485, RS232, or 10/100 Base-T Ethernet communication ports to allow communication with external distributed control systems or building management systems (BMS).
  • BACnet, Metasys N2 and LonWorks to Modbus protocol gateways with pre-programmed Modbus registration are also available.
  • The ACS-30-EU-UIT2 unit is designed for indoor use in non-hazardous location installations.

ACS-30-EU-PCM2 Power and control module [PCM]:

Power control module for ACS-30, to provide distributed power connection, control and monitoring of heating cable circuits. At least one PCM must be included.

Six versions available as standard:

  • 5, 10, and 15 circuit control per panel
  • 20 or 32 A switching capacity per circuit available.
  • Power connection, control, and power distribution to the heat tracing circuits.
  • Robust enclosure is approved for non-hazardous installation indoor.
  • PCM provides connection to the incoming power supply and power distribution and electrical protection to the heat tracing circuits.

The PCM module also provides:

  • Ground fault monitoring.
  • Line current monitoring.
  • Alarm capability.
  • RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) input capability for each individual heating circuit.

ACS-30-EU-MONI-RMM2-E:

Remote monitoring module (RMM) for the ACS-30 control and monitoring system, to measure additional temperatures for control and monitoring of heating cable circuits. Up to 16 RMMs may be controlled by a single UIT, with up to 8 RTDs per RMM.

  • One RMM provides up to eight sensor inputs per module with feedback to the ACS-30-EU-UIT2.
  • Maximum 16 RMM devices per User interface terminal (UIT).
  • Twisted pair RS-485 cable connects up to 16 RMM units providing 128 additional temperature monitoring sensor inputs.
  • Remotely located adjacent to the desired measurement locations.
  • ACS-30-EU-MONI-RMM2-E module comes pre-installed inside a compact enclosure.

ACS-30-EU-EMDR-10-MOD:

  • Provides smart sensor input for roof and gutter de-icing applications.
  • External Sensor device for Gutter snow melting and de-icing applications.
  • Temperature and moisture sensing input for the ACS-30 control system.
  • Module can be positioned near to the heated area and is connected to the PCM module via a 3-wire cable.
  • 4 m external temperature and moisture sensor to be positioned at the heated surface. The sensor cold lead cable can be extended to a maximum length of 100 m (using 3 x 1.5 mm² cable).
  • The output from the ACS-30-EU-EMDR-10 module enables the switching of the heating circuits within the power and control module (PCM).

ACS-30-EU-VIA-DU-20-MOD:

  • Provides smart sensor input for surface snow melting and de-icing applications.
  • External Sensor device for ground surface snow melting applications.
  • The module provides ground temperature and moisture sensing for the ACS-30 control system.
  • Positioned near to the heated area and is connected to the PCM module via a 3-wire cable.
  • Provided with a 15 m external ground temperature and moisture sensor to be positioned at the heated surface.
  • The output from the ACS-30-EU- VIA-DU-20-MOD enables the switching of the heating circuits within the power and control module (PCM).

Standard product features

Electrical connection:

  • Supply voltage: 230 VAC/ 50 Hz.
  • Connections between the electrical supply, control panel and trace heating circuits shall be installed by an approved electrical contractor.
  • Circuit breaker protection required by MCB (BS EN 60898 type C or D). Residual current device required, RCD (30 mA sensitivity, tripping within 100 ms). Maximum approximately 500 m of self-regulating heating cable can be monitored per RCD.

Design:

The manufacturer shall be able to provide all design calculations, including heat loss and corresponding selection of heating cables; electrical schedules providing cable lengths, circuit breakers, circuit start up currents, operating currents and loads, line list summary and single line details; system layout and schematic drawings indicating power connections, tees and end seals; controller configuration listing and wiring diagrams.

Installation:

All trace heating cables shall be installed in accordance with the design plans, within the defined maximum circuit lengths, tested and commissioned strictly in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions (IM-CDE1547) using a 2500 Vdc megger. Installation of thermal insulation shall be coordinated with the responsible sub-contractors. ATE-180 shall be used on plastic pipes.
