Description

Solvent-based polyurethane resin seal with a flat-silk finish, suitable for light duty areas where colour stability and chemical resistance are required.


Features and benefits:

  • It is readily cleaned and maintained, providing a hygienic surface finish.
  • Resistant to a wide range of chemicals and UV-light, and can also be used as a final seal coat to give extra chemical resistance to epoxy resin systems. It has approximately 90 microns per coat and is available in coloured and clear.


Variations include:

  • Standard: For areas where there is a low risk of slipping.
  • Slip resistant: Includes a micaceous mineral that lightly textures the surface.
  • Vertical: A chemically and UV resistant coating for improved colour stability in light colours, although additional coats may be required over darker substrates.
  • Altro Seal water-based matt: A twin-pack, water-borne polyurethane clear resin seal with a matt finish. This coating has been developed to provide a cosmetic seal coat to epoxy resin systems where a matt finish is preferable. Approximately 50 microns per coat.

  • A twin-pack, elastomeric epoxy resin jointing compound designed as a pourable filling for movement joints within the substrate, AltroExpand provides a degree of flexibility to accommodate compression, whilst offering support to the arris of the joint when subjected to heavy wheeled traffic. A knife-applied grade is available for vertical use.

Preparation

Preparation of new substrates.

Guidance for specification option:

Altro Seal water-based matt:


  • The surface should be dry as well as being free from any contamination that may affect the adhesion of Altro Seal water-based matt. Resin surfaces that have been left for more than 24 hours prior to application will need suitable preparation in order to promote adhesion. When applying to new or existing Altro Flow the surface will require preparation with Altro Siliclean.
  • Substrates should achieve 26 N/mm² compressive strength (BS EN 12504-2) and surface tensile strength 1.5N/mm² (BS EN 13892-8).
  • Substrates must include an effective damp proof membrane and contain residual moisture not greater than 5% by weight (75% R.H.) to BS 8203:2017.
  • Altro Seal substrates should be dry, structurally sound and free from contamination, friable materials or laitance which may affect either the adhesion or penetration of the resin system. All residues of old paint coatings and dust must be removed.
