Altrincham Central Way, Altrincham

An innovative regeneration scheme, to reinvigorate Altrincham Central Way, was completed in March 2015 after Trafford Council commissioned landscape architects Planit-ie and Stockley to develop a new town centre strategy. The objective of the 727m² landscape was to maintain the distinctive and unique feel of the area, whist modernising it for the demands of contemporary life. To achieve this appearance, Wienerberger's Auraton DF and Vintage Tumbled Blue Brindled pavers were used for this project.
Apartments Bainbridge Court, Leicestershire

Wienerberger's Porotherm Cellular Clay Blocks (PTH100, PTH140, PTH190) were used to construct a McCarthy and Stone development, in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire, consisting of 32 one and two bedroom apartments, and was the third Porotherm development to be undertaken in the West Midlands region.
Bedwas Mental Health Facility, South Wales

An independent residential mental health facility, which houses 16 residents with long-term mental health illnesses, has recently been completed in Bedwas South Wales. To ensure the facility complemented the local area, OMI Architects specified Wienerberger's Anglesey Weathered Buff brick, as its patina and worn nature generate harmony with its surrounding area.
Blackburn Cathedral, Blackburn

The Cathedral’s Grade II listing represents its importance as an example of an ecclesiastical building which has grown in stages. It was of major importance in design and selection of materials that the new build retained these principles, which is why the architects Purcell chose Wienerberger's Porotherm Cellular Clay Block - PTH100 for the construction of the cathedral.
Caring Wood, Kent

Carmelite Monastery, Liverpool

For the construction of the Carmelite Monastery in Liverpool, the architects Austin-Smith Lord chose Wienerberger’s Con Mosso brick, due to its soft and textured appearance, which makes it equally suitable for internal as well as external use. On the façade, the appearance subtly changes according to the time of day and weather conditions; the changing shape of the shadows deliberately exudes a sense of calmness and tranquillity. This unique architectural design has captured the imagination of architects across the country indeed as much that it was awarded the Architect’s Choice award at the 2013 Brick Development Awards (BDA).
Carrowbreck Meadow, Norwich

The design combines local ‘barn’ vernacular with a contemporary twist and incorporates simple black and white materials palette. The homes were designed to sit comfortably in their woodland setting and were positioned to take advantage of solar energy throughout the seasons. For this project, Wienerberger's Porotherm Cellular Clay Block - PTH100 was used.
Chester Business Quarter, Chester

High quality materials and building techniques have been used throughout the project to promote sustainability and longevity.
This has often resulted in traditional materials being used in an unorthodox way to great effect – demonstrating a pioneering element to the architectural design throughout the project.
This can be noted in the use of Wienerberger’s Ashington Red Multi bricks and special shaped single cants and single cant return bricks, while the beautifully mixed brown multi Gala Waterstruck pavers add a contrasting visual.
Clarence Road, Hale

The customer wanted to find a new tile that had a similar aesthetic look to the original clay tiles but also needed to ensure an economical overall installation cost. James Bros Roofing Contractors, who specialise in the re-roofing of domestic properties using natural slate, clay plain tiles or more modern concrete tiles, selected Wienerberger's 20/20 Antique Slate roof tiles to achieve this brief perfectly.
Clarendon Place

For this project, Wienerberger's 20/20 roof tiles in Antique Slate were used to reduce installation costs and completion times. A ground breaking feature of the tile, which was previously considered impossible, is that it is guaranteed for use at roof pitches down to 15°, where as traditional plain tiles usually can only go down to 35°.
Dokett Building, Queen's College, Cambridge

The project required the stripping and re-covering of the existing 100-year-old roof which was failing. Due to the prominent location of the building on campus, and it being of historical local interest, Keymer’s handmade Traditional Antique and Elizabethan tiles were selected to ensure a sympathetic renovation that was in keeping with the existing building design principles of Queens’ College.

East Kent College, Kent

Set on the Broadstairs campus of East Kent College, construction has now come to a close on extension works to an existing road at the college site, which was required to take place in the curtilage of a listed building. The project utilised Wienerberger’s Penter Dortmund Dark Multi and Dragfaced Square Edged Blue pavers, as a clay paving product was required in lieu of concrete to give the finish and longevity the client required, in accordance with planning requirements and ensuring that the colour and design of the road complimented and maintained the character of the building.

Kingsdown House, The King's School, Canterbury

Rather than using modern interlocking tiles, Wienerberger’s Alban Sussex Blend tiles were used to create the roof and walls of Kingsdown House. The versatility of the Alban Sussex Blend tile was highlighted: the tiles blend beautiful design with a stunning aesthetic result. The tiles were chosen because they enabled the architect to use a single material for the roof and walls, creating a simple, attractive façade that complements its neighbours .

Mews House, London

This project in North London was created with the intention of enhancing the housing stock of the location and providing a positive contribution to the texture, grain and building types within the conservation area. To achieve this appearance, Wienerberger's Marziale brick was used. Additionally, a carefully selected mortar, using white cement, lime and washed river sand and a subtle manipulation of the surface, was applied to enhance the quality of the brickwork.

Queen's University, Belfast

In the course of the restructuring and refurbishment of a multi-storey library tower (MST) for the School of Law and the linkage of the tower to the adjacent Peter Froggatt Centre (PFC) to form a new student hub at Queen’s University in Belfast, the architects TODD decided to use Wienerberger’s Lincoln Red brick to tie the scheme into its surroundings. Generally, the brick was laid traditionally, but brick slips secured to a proprietary backing board were also used to form soffits and glazed into the curtain walling on the PFC façade.

There was a clear requirement for the paving to provide Southwater One with a physical and symbolic link between the bold, unapologetically modernist external appearance of the development and its natural surroundings. The Siena (Hague Cream) pavers addressed that specification; the warm, sandy, tones blending with the surrounding natural landscape. In addition, the use of Wienerberger’s Mastiek and Auraton pavers, with their clean grey finishes, created a crisp waterfront patina.

Timekeepers Square, Salford

Located within a conservation area in Salford, Timekeepers Square is a development of 36 two, three and four bed townhouses adjacent to the Grade II* listed St Phillips church; and the Georgian square which it fronts. The scheme forms part of the English Cities Fund’s Salford Central regeneration scheme which is regenerating more than 50 acres of Salford’s historic centre. The product used for this project is Wienerberger's Forum Smoked Branco brick.
Tower Bridge, London

Through the integration of pioneering materials, the build was designed to strike a balance between contemporary design and historic style. The product behind the concept was Wienerberger’s Smeed Dean London Stock brick – chosen for the project to complement the architectural character of traditional brickwork that has been used throughout the capital, including prestigious landmarks such as Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London. The brick is composed of a truly unique combination of materials; local chalk, brick earth, town ash and clinker preserved from the fire grates of Victorian London – giving it its celebrated look and finish.
