In the initial phase, Standard Patent Glazing Co Ltd undertook the installation of 1,200m² of patent glazing on a faceted façade, comprising 22 tiers. The survey of the existing structure, complicated by the complex shape, required meticulous planning. Coordination with the client and the scaffolding contractor was crucial to ensure effective installation logistics. Challenges included negotiating protruding elements during glazing system installation. To address this, bespoke prefabricated sheet aluminium panels and weathering flashings were employed, effectively weathering the structure. Additionally, the company supplied new entrance and re exit doors for the building. As part of the aesthetic considerations, spandrel panels were strategically installed to conceal intermediate floors, seamlessly matching the corporate colours of the client’s branding. The entire installation process adhered to CWCT standards, resulting in a successful design, manufacture and installation.

Situated in the picturesque riverside grounds south of Ablington, near the southern reaches of the parish, Syrencot House stands as a three-story country house with a storied past. Constructed in 1738 on the foundations of an earlier dwelling, the house was later expanded in the early 19th century with the addition of a substantial two-story wing. It was during this period that a magnificent glasshouse was introduced into the estate. In 2019, the Estate changed hands, falling under the ownership of a venue services company with a vision. They set about the remarkable transformation of the somewhat timeworn estate into a venue for weddings and accommodations. Amidst this renaissance, the once-dilapidated glasshouse was reborn with a radiant facelift, its glass-clad exterior and elegant ceiling.

Market Arcade, a Victorian shopping arcade nestled in the heart of Newport, Wales, has not only served as a retail hub but also asa vital pedestrian thoroughfare connecting High Street and Newport Market. This architectural gem holds a special place in history, being the second oldest Victorian arcade still in operation in Wales, the oldest in Newport, and one of the oldest in the UK. Market Arcade, originally known as Fennell’s Arcade, opened its doors in 1869. Later, in the early 20th century, it acquired the name Flowers Arcade, reflecting the businesses that adorned its interior. However, by the early 2000s, before its much-needed renovation, the arcade had fallen into disrepair. It stood unlit, showing signs of structural decline, and was plagued by anti-social behaviour and damage.

Pavilion Gardens in Buxton is a treasure trove of Grade II listed Victorian buildings, each overlooking the pristine Gardens from its northern boundary. A wide promenade graces the front, setting the stage for a journey into history. The central Pavilion and Conservatory, cast-iron and glass marvels from 1870, were designed by Milner in the grand style of London’s Crystal Palace. The central hall of the Pavilion, now home to a charming café, underwent rebirth in 1983 after a fire threatened its existence. The Conservatory, once a small concert hall with a stage and organ, transformed into a greenhouse conservatory adorned with tropical plants and a tranquil fish pond in 1982.

The 18th Century Orangery, once a symbol of elegance and charm, had fallen into disrepair. Thanks to lottery heritage funding and the relentless efforts of the ‘Friends of Ingestre Orangery’, a registered charity with the sole purpose of revitalizing this Grade II Listed Staffordshire building, a remarkable transformation was on the horizon. Our task in this ambitious endeavor was to replace the aging roof patent Orangery glazing with a modern yet thermally efficient non-structural Rafterline patent glazing system. We incorporated our ornate PC3 cosmetic cap into the design, infusing the glazing system with a heritage feel that paid homage to the building’s rich history. The Rafterline patent glazing bars found their place fixed to meticulously restored ornate moulded timber rafters, a labour of love undertaken by H.A Briddon Ltd. To ensure the Orangery glazing remained weatherproof, we installed lead sheet weathering flashings around the perimeter and ridge positions. In addition, we added double-pane wide opening ventilators, providing much-needed natural ventilation to the multi-use internal space.

Closure to customers was a frequent occurrence due to the risk of glass windows dislodging in adverse weather conditions. Our Heritage glazing system was selected not only for its visual authenticity but also for enhancing safety and restoring the structural integrity of the Market Hall.

KOKO, a renowned London theatre, embarked on an ambitious reinvention project, expanding its existing structure into a sprawling 4,650m² of cultural space with 750 m² of Heritage patent glazing.For this transformation, we played a pivotal role by utilising our Heritage glazing systems to celebrate the historical significance ofthe venue. The internal habitable spaces were equipped with our Heritage double glazed system, while the creation of the scalloped glazed canopies was executed with our Heritage single glazed system. These systems, based on the designs of late 19th-century patent glazing, are dedicated to maintaining the integrity of grade one and two listed buildings, structures of historical value, and prestigious projects. Our Heritage system proved to be the ideal choice for the KOKO project, considering the venue’s protected status.

ISKCON has proudly owned this architectural gem for a decadeHowever, the grandeur of this historic building faced a grave threat. The Centre found itself on the national Buildings at Risk Register, with its roof in a state of disrepair. Water had infiltrated the building, putting its historic interior decor at risk. Urgent measures were required to safeguard this architectural marvel.
