BioScapes® has teamed up with one of the largest housing associations in North-East England, believe housing, to boost biodiversity and to increase awareness of the subject within the local community.

After constructing a new building at their headquarters, J A Kent faced the challenge of managing additional rainwater run-off. They saw an opportunity to address this need while also boosting their site’s biodiversity value. Additionally, with a surge in customer inquiries about sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and biodiversity net gain (BNG), the firm aimed to deepen its understanding and demonstrate the effectiveness of these solutions.

Omega Oak Barn, a family-run care home in Beadlam, near Helmsley, North Yorkshire, is renowned for its warm, supportive atmosphere and personalised care. The management at Omega Oak Barn constantly seeks innovative ways to enhance the quality of life for its residents, particularly those in the moderate to latter stages of dementia. Recognising the profound benefits of nature on well-being, the care home was able to introduce a unique solution: the BioScapes WildPod, with support from the Allison Willis Trust.

TransPennine Express (TPE), a prominent rail operator in the north of England, has embarked on a sustainability initiative to enhance biodiversity and manage flooding through the installation of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS). The programme is part of TPE’s broader sustainability strategy, sitting within the ’Beyond Carbon’ strategy pillar, which includes their ’Good for Nature’ goal.TransPennine Express’s initiative to install BioScapes® SuDS Units demonstrates a proactive approach to integrating sustainability into existing infrastructure. The project not only addresses ecological and flood management needs but also enhances the aesthetic and functional value of railway stations, setting a precedent for future sustainability projects within the rail industry.

The University of Liverpool and University of West England are among a growing number of higher education establishments choosing BioScapes® as part of ongoing initiatives to sustainably manage grounds and support biodiversity.
