The mixed mulch material was then transported to the installation area via a wheelbarrow, emptied, and roughly spread using a spazzle before being hand-troweled to create a seamless finish.This mixing and laying process was repeated until the PERMABOUND mulch safety surface was completed. Following the recommended guidelines, the area was cordoned off for at least 72 hours to allow the mulch to cure completely, ensuring its safety for use.CONCLUSIONThe installation of PERMABOUND rubber mulch at the Balivanich Community play area has proven to be a resounding success, transforming an outdated play space into a safe, inclusive and engaging environment for local children to enjoy for years to come. They created a textbook set up for resin bound installations by stacking each mix separately with each stack containing: a PERMABOUND UVR+ resin binder, four PERMABOUND bags of aggregate from large to small and a bag of binding quartz. He then proceeded to add the stone, resin binder and binding quartz to their SoRoTo forced action mixer, mixing each batch for the same duration before transporting it to the installation area.The second member of the team took on the role of evenly spreading the mixed material over the installation area with the use of a spazzle. This step is vital in ensuring the even distribution of material across the surface and in creating a well-compacted PERMABOUND surface.The third team member then completed the process by hand-troweling the PERMABOUND surface with the use of a specialist resin bound trowel. Hand-troweling is critical in achieving a compact, level and smooth finish for resin bound surfaces. Trowel technique is just one of the subjects covered during PERMABOUND resin bound training days.CONCLUSIONThe homeowner and AH Paving were delighted with the outcome of this stunning Caramelita resin bound stone installation! The path and patio area have been completely transformed following the application of PERMABOUND material. Both spaces now radiate elegance, providing the homeowner with appealing, permeable and low-maintenance surfaces. The homeowner's existing block-paved driveway was removed to make way for a permeable tarmac surface that would provide the ideal foundation for the new resin bound stone surface.The next step of the installation was mixing the resin bound material. Using a SoRoTo forced action mixer, one team member combined a PERMABOUND UVR+ resin binder, four bags of specialist stone and a bag of binding quartz. The mixed material was then transferred to the designated installation area using a wheelbarrow.With the material in place, the second member of the team commenced the initial spreading process using a spazzle, ensuring the resin bound material was at the correct depth for the subsequent hand-trowelling phase.Finally, the third member of the team began the hand-trowelling process using specialist resin bound trowels. This step is vital in achieving a compact, even and flawlessly smooth finish to the resin bound stone surface.This process was then replicated until the entire driveway installation was finished. The team mixed the material for the same duration to ensure consistency throughout before repeating the rough spreading and hand trowelling until the surface was completed. Their outstanding attention to detail and expert craftsmanship resulted in a modern, attractive, level and SuDs-compliant PERMABOUND surface.CONCLUSIONWhite Bridge Construction's installation of the PERMABOUND resin bound stone driveway not only met but surpassed the client's expectations. Debris can be easily swept away, and occasional power washing will restore its pristine appearance. In this case study, we delve into a PERMABOUND driveway installed by GR Groundworks who were tasked with replacing their customer's worn-out driveway with a beautiful resin bound gravel surface. Continue reading to discover the entire process of creating a magnificent driveway.After carefully browsing the bespoke PERMABOUND sample case and inspecting each blend, the customer confidently chose Flax as the primary blend and Partisan for the border and pathways alongside their house. These beautiful selections were made carefully to ensure they complemented each other whilst enhancing the property's overall aesthetic.The GR Groundworks team started the project by excavating and removing the existing, visibly deteriorating driveway.Once the old surface was cleared, a strong hardcore foundation was established. Block paving edges were then laid to form a step at the front door. On to the hardcore, a concrete sub-base was then laid, offering a solid surface for installing their PERMABOUND surface. To accommodate the installation of two resin bound gravel blends side-by-side, a durable aluminium edging trim was fixed to the concrete surface, creating a crisp yet discreet separation between the two colours.With the thorough groundwork completed to a high standard, the installation of the PERMABOUND surface could commence.The team prepared the PERMABOUND installation perfectly, stacking up each separate mix: four bags of specialist stone, a high-quality PERMABOUND resin binder and a bag of sand.One member of the GR team managed the mixing process using their SoRoTo forced action mixer. For each mix, they added BoundFast Catalyst to the resin binder to accelerate resin curing times in colder weather. They combined the gravel, catalysed resin binder and KLCP sand in the SoRoTo mixer, ensuring each batch was mixed for precisely the same duration.The mixed PERMABOUND material was then carefully transferred to a wheelbarrow by another team member, transported to the designated installation area and roughly spread out.The third team member then took the lead, hand-troweling using The Resin Bull's 500LT double-handled trowel to craft a well-compacted and level PERMABOUND driveway. The old tarmac surface had become worn out and degraded over time, now posing a safety risk to students and staff due to its uneven surface and potential for slips and trips. The existing path was also not suitable for wheelchairs, creating accessibility challenges for those with mobility issues.Greener Places were tasked with resolving this issue. To address these problems, the team opted for PERMABOUND’s Gold/Black Soft Gravel, a unique blend of recycled SBR rubber chips, washed and dried gravel and a high-performance resin binder. Our innovative solution produces attractive, strong, seamless, permeable, low-maintenance and non-slip surfaces which are ideal for school environments where safety is paramount.INSTALLATIONThe Greener Places team began the project with the excavation of the old tarmac pathway. With a blank canvas, the team began preparing for the installation of Soft Gravel by ensuring the sub-base was strong, installing new edging for the full length of the path and building a ramp to ensure full wheelchair accessibility. With the preparation work completed, the team could commence laying the Soft Gravel pathway.Using a forced action mixer, one team member combined PERMABOUND SG resin binder, two bags of specialist stone and two bags of SBR rubber. The mixed material was then transferred to the installation area using a wheelbarrow before being hand-trowelled into place using specialist resin bound trowels. Hand trowelling is vital in ensuring you achieve a compact and smooth finish to any Soft Gravel surface.CONCLUSIONThe primary school are delighted with the outcome of their new pathway, there are no longer concerns of safety or accessibility thanks to their brand new Soft Gravel path.
