Mapei adhesive and grout products have been specified for the installation of a stone pattern in the reception and washroom areas in a refurbishment to the Freemasons’ Hall, London. The Hall first opened in 1933 as a memorial to the 3,255 Freemasons who died during active service in the First World War, and has been used for events, the meeting place for the Grand Lodge, and annual meetings of the home counties since.

Over 700m2 of marble tiling with approximately 2 miles of brass inlay has been fitted using Mapei’s high quality products to the foyer and reception areas at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel, Mayfair. The refurbishment project took place over nine months. Image Credit: Richard Waite

The construction of the West Bromwich Leisure Centre developed a strong relationship between, architect, main contractor, sub-contractor and manufacturer as well as the major development of a state of the art leisure facility. Mapei UK products were specified on all areas and were on site from the beginning ensuring that full support was given to all aspects of the project development, assisting with full specifications covering M10, M20, M40, M50, J30, and K21, from the general application of screed to the finer detail of waterproofing drainage channels.

A Mapei system of flooring products has been specified as part of a major refurbishment at the Imperial War Museum. The historic museum is being sympathetically transformed to mark the centenary of the First World War. Mapei’s high performance cementitious flooring system, Ultratop, was chosen to complement the exhibits and provide low maintenance, coupled with resistance to heavy pedestrian traffic. Mapei’s flooring system was specified throughout a 5,000m2 floor area. The system combined Mapei Topcem rapid-drying screed, Primer SN and Ultratop - a technologically advanced self-smoothing cementitious floor in Anthracite.

Mapei products for the installation of wood flooring were specified to install floor coverings including over 63,000m2 of Domus wood flooring throughout all of the residential and penthouse apartments at Battersea Power Station, London. The construction of over 850 apartments at this iconic site has been completed during the first phase of building. With Mapei’s adhesive Ultrabond Eco S955 1K to furnish every apartment in the prestigious development. Ultrabond S955 can be used with all types and sizes of engineered and solid wood flooring, hence it’s suitability for the installation at Battersea Power Station.

Mapei systems have been used in the construction of a swimming pool at the American School in London, St John’s Wood. Complete waterproofing and ceramic tiling solutions were installed over a nine month period to areas in the pool tank and changing room interiors and exteriors. The project was completed whilst the school remained open, which meant materials had to be installed quickly and with as little disruption as possible, without compromising on quality.
