Our systems are manufactured from aluminium - a material that can be repeatedly recycled without degradation of its mechanical properties. At end of life, aluminium components can be fully reclaimed and reprocessed, supporting circular economy principles and reducing demand for virgin raw materials.
Unlike natural timber, Knotwood does not require ongoing staining, sealing, or chemical treatment to maintain performance or appearance. This eliminates repeated maintenance cycles, associated material consumption, and access requirements over the building lifecycle, significantly reducing whole life environmental impact.
The durability of powder coated aluminium also supports extended service life in external applications, particularly in exposed or high density urban environments where traditional timber systems may require premature replacement. By reducing repair and replacement frequency, the embodied carbon associated with refurbishment works is minimised.
