Kingspan Insulated Panels

The Box, at Penrith in Cumbria, is an ultra-modern, purpose-built headquarters and manufacturing hub for AST Signs, one of the UK’s leading branding companies. The construction of this project has provided AST Signs with an innovative space that is now used to centralise operations and aid business efficiency.This striking 21,000ft² building sits in the heart of the British countryside and features significant sustainability measures.

The new distillery sits along the bank of the River Spey and is capable of producing up to 10 million litres of spirit annually. Formed in the shape of a leaf of barley, this project was inspired by the core ingredients used to make traditional scotch whiskey. The unique shape of the building adds character and is a reflection of the locally sourced ingredients used to make traditional scotch whiskey. Architect: NORR

The archive’s single-storey extension was clad in Corten steel Hook-on cassettes on both the walls and the mono-pitch roof. These weathered steel panels naturally oxidise to form a patina veneer, giving the façade a distinctive “rusted” look that shifts from a vibrant orange before settling to a dark red after several years of exposure to the elements. The deep copper-brown tones of the façade work well with the brick palette of the original building, while the sharp, angular lines of the new structure contrast against the symmetrical regularity of the rest of the building. Architect : Burwell Deakins, London

Located along a winding mountain road in Queenstown, New Zealand, the Kingspan panels installed on this project have provided state of the art facilities for skiers at The Remarkables skifield base. The new addition to the centre is comprised of a three level base building that is home to numerous activities, including gear rental, a snow sport school and a restaurant.Due to the local climate and surroundings, the panels installed needed to be resilient to adverse weather conditions. Trapezoidal Wall panels deliver excellent thermal efficiency, providing the correct level of thermal and structural performance required in this extreme environment.

With the business growing at a rapid rate, the firm has expanded its head office to a purpose-built facility which also incorporates a store, café, and an external garden centre.To make the most of its prominent location at the entrance to the new Seaton Hill development, the building was designed to showcase the brand’s iconic identity. The facade of the offices and warehouse are clad primarily in a palette of blacks and greys using Kingspan Dri-Design Flat Cassettes for the office element and QuadCore AWP Wall Panels for the large retail section. This neutral palette provides the perfect backdrop for more colourful facade elements of royal blue and bright orange which ‘pop out’ from the envelope, both literally and visually. These elements include a ribbon style wrapping which recreates a heart-beat reading and symbolises the HQ’s position as the “heartbeat of Derriford”. This dramatic treatment also helps to break-up the massing of the site.  Selecting all these materials from a single supplier also help to simply logistics, minimise onsite waste and ensure complete compatibility between the elevations.

The design philosophy for this project was to create a highly-efficient and architecturally-stunning world class winery for Yealands Estate. Inspired by the landscape, the curved roof mirrors the shape of the nearby rolling hills, and the overall building is reminiscent of traditional family run countryside wineries.The building features a highly insulated envelope and is considered one of the most environmentally friendly wineries ever built.
