Atherleigh Park, Leigh

At Atherleigh Park Hospital in Leigh, Wigan, Kawneer’s AA®3110HW windows were installed alongside AA®100 zone-drained curtain walling and AA®543 tilturn and AA®541 top-hung casement windows by Polar (NE) Ltd, bringing four-fold benefits to a new £40 million mental health hospital.

Barons Quay, Northwich

Three types of Kawneer’s curtain walling have been used on an exciting new retail and leisure quarter designed to rejuvenate the historic town centre of Northwich in Cheshire - AA®100 fire-rated curtain walling with 50mm sightlines and AA®110 curtain walling with 65mm sightlines, in mullion-drained and capped as well as SSG (Structurally Silicone Glazed) versions.

Bayscape, Cardiff

The full range of architectural glazing systems from Kawneer were specified for Phase One of Bayscape Ltd’s stunning £40 million mixed-use development at Cardiff marina, by award-winning Rio architects who have used Kawneer systems on numerous residential and commercial projects over the years.

Byrom Point, Liverpool

Kawneer’s AA®100 zone-drained and capped curtain walling and AA®540 top-hung casement inserts in an unusual tiger bronze finish feature on the new Byrom Point mixed-use development on Liverpool’s Great Crosshall Street, close to the University of Liverpool.

Duns Primary School, Berwickshire

Kawneer’s steel-style GT70 windows as top-hung, open-out sashes and fixed fields, were an important aspect of the conversion, to Historic Environment Scotland standards, of this Grade B listed building in the Scottish borders from high school to primary school which also featured AA®100 curtain walling and AA®720 doors and AA®3572 lift/slide doors.

Hart Leisure Centre, Fleet

Architectural glazing systems by Kawneer have been used throughout a flagship facility for a local authority to improve the well-being of its local community. AA®100 curtain walling and AA®720 and series 190 doors feature throughout the £23 million redevelopment of Hart Leisure Centre in Fleet, Hampshire, operated by Everyone Active.

Hawkhead Village, Paisley

Kawneer AA®720 TIP windows, with the narrow sightlines typical of traditional steel windows, feature on Hawkhead Village’s flagship building, the former Art Deco Cubicle isolation block, which is now 12 bespoke homes, as well as former staff accommodation and new-build homes, bringing award-winning new life to a former Building at Risk-registered hospital.

Heron Hall Academy, London

Steel-style Kawneer windows were selected for the £17 million rescue of a partly derelict college. GT70 slimline renovation windows as fixed lights and top-hung casements are complemented by AA®100 curtain walling, AA®541 fixed lights and top-hung casement windows and series 190 doors on the redeveloped Heron Hall, a former Middlesex University site.

Holiday Inn Express, Birmingham

This £16.3 million 250-bedroom precast hotel using Kawneer’s AA®540 windows, AA®110 zone-drained curtain walling and series 190 heavy-duty commercial entrance doors to help form the unusual pattern of L-shaped windows, forms part of the new 1.2 millionft2 Arena Central mixed use development in the city.

Imperial College, White City, London

Kawneer’s unitised AA®201 curtain walling system, AA®720 fixed light casement windows and AA®720 commercial entrance doors feature on the main south elevation of the Molecular Sciences Research Hub (MSRH) in Imperial College’s first new campus in over a century in London’s White City.

John Bradfield Centre, Cambridge

Kawneer’s AA®100 SSG (Structurally Silicone Glazed) curtain walling, with AA®720 doors and open-in side-hung vents, form the main structure to the two main facades of the £20 million John Bradfield Centre hub building at the 151-acre Cambridge Science Park, Europe’s first science park, owned by Trinity College Cambridge.

Manchester Cancer Research Centre

Kawneer systems have been used on a building that promotes health for patients and the environment. AA®100 SSG (Structurally Silicone Glazed) curtain walling with 50mm sightlines, top-hung casement windows and 451PT framing feature on the BREEAM “Very good” rated new MCRC which is designed to NHS Technical memoranda (HTMs).

Mitford Unit, Northgate Hospital, Morpeth

The Mitford unit at Northgate Hospital in Morpeth, Northumberland, where fenestration was led by architectural glazing specialists Polar NE, uses a variety of Kawneer window and framing systems including a bespoke secure healthcare window specially fabricated for the £10 million project - the UK’s first dedicated healthcare facility for adults with autism.

Newcastle Girls High School

The £11 million redevelopment of Newcastle Girls High School into arguably the region’s and one of the UK’s leading girls’ schools includes AA®100 mullion-drained curtain walling, AA®541 top-hung casement windows and AA®720 doors on both the refurbished and new-build elements as well as AA®3110 horizontal sliding doors on the new-build element.

One Canal Parade, Cardiff

Two versions of Kawneer’s AA®100 curtain walling – mullion-drained capped and SSG (Structurally Silicone Glazed) - were used on One Canal Parade in Cardiff city centre. These were complemented by Kawneer’s AA®540 fixed lights, AA®720 bottom-hung, outward-opening vents for smoke ventilation, series 190 heavy-duty commercial entrance doors and aerofoil caps integrated into a Brise Soleil system.

Providence House, Ipswich

Barber Casanovas Ruffles, who have used Kawneer systems for many years, selected architectural glazing systems by Kawneer for a new £8 million BREEAM “Very good” headquarters building, Providence House on Princes Street, Ipswich, because they are “tried and tested and a quality product that’s value for money”.

Royal Birmingham Conservatoire

Kawneer’s AA®100 curtain walling and AA®720 windows, combined with engineered acoustic baffles within secondary glazing reveals, have helped reduce sound transmission into the new £57 million Royal Birmingham Conservatoire from a busy city centre road. The brief was to provide a building with one of the highest levels of acoustic attenuation in the world.

Sibson Building, University of Kent, Canterbury

Architectural glazing systems, some of them bespoke, by Kawneer have helped a new £26 million, 8100m2 hub building meet its university’s aspirations for a project of the “highest technical quality.” The Kawneer solutions at the University of Kent’s Sibson Building were installed to a BREEAM “Excellent” design by architects Penoyre & Prasad.

Smythe Library, Tonbridge School

The £3.6 million refurbishment of a library at one of Kent’s most prestigious independent boys’ schools features Kawneer’s AA®100 mullion-drained curtain walling with bespoke fin caps and AA®541 concealed vents along with AA®720 entrance doors on a stunning new 13.5m high circulation tower topped by an AA®100 rooflight.

Victoria Gate Arcade, Leeds

Kawneer’s curtain walling, framing and doors have been used exclusively in two rooftop restaurants and the upper floor of the new Victoria Gate Arcade, a £165 million award-winning addition to Leeds’ vibrant shopping scene, anchored by the largest John Lewis department store outside of London.
