Cameron Close - Isle of White

H+Hs Thin-Joint System has been used in the construction of a Passivhaus development of 16 semi-detached houses and 12 sheltered accommodation apartments at Cameron Close, Freshwater, on the Isle of Wight.

Badby Park is a unique facility dedicated to neurological iIllnesses and disorders, providing specialist nursing and rehabilitation in the vicinity of Northampton. The two storey development is divided into two wings. The Meadows Wing is a spacious purposedesigned environment providing 24 specialised nursing care bedrooms with en-suites.

Case Study - Bermondsey Spa

Site E West comprises a medium rise, high-density, mixed-use development extending to nine stories at its highest point. The development will provide 114 homes. A medical centre, communal facilities, a bike store and other amenities will be provided at ground floor level. 62 of the homes will be housing for sale, 40 shared ownership and 12 keyworker units

Case Study - Carpenters Place Residential Development

The first homes on the Knowle estate were built in the 1930s. It was built as a council housing estate, although nowadays almost half of the 5,500 or so homes are privately owned. Carpenter’s Place is built on the site of a former public house and forms part of the urban regeneration of the Knowle area of Bristol. The three-storey building comprises 21 one bedroom and 3 two-bedroom apartments, as well as secure parking facilities with 17 car park spaces. Each dwelling is fitted out with all expected mod cons, access to bicycle and bin storage, as well as waste recycling facilities.

Case Study - Chantry Hall: mixed use development

Phase one consists of a mix of two storey 2 and 3-bedroom affordable and retirement houses. The external cavity walls are constructed with a Thin-Jointed aircrete inner leaf and either brick, flint or cladding to the outer-leaf, topped with a pitched, tiled roof.

Case Study - Child Development Centre, Hackney

Celcon blocks with Thin-Joint technology were chosen for ease of use. Balfour Beatty project manager Steve Penwill has used the system on an extension to his home and was very pleased with the results.

Case Study - Ribbon Court Care Home

The four-storey development comprises 50 one and two-bedroom apartments for residents with special care needs, where the on-site amenities include consultancy rooms, activity rooms, communal lounges, a hairdressers, café restaurant, landscaped garden and a waterfall in the reception area.

Case Study - Sawston Village College Science Wing

The extension provides eight new classrooms to develop the college’s specialism in teaching the sciences to 11-16 year-olds. The first phase to create five classrooms over a 700m2 floorspace was completed within 37 weeks by the Christmas holiday of 2008. The second phase to create three classrooms over a 450m2 floorspace was completed within 27 weeks by the start of the summer holiday. The fittings and furnishings are installed during the holidays.

Fielding Meadow, Leicestershire

All of the 36 homes on the Cawrey Homes Fielding Meadow development are built to level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, making use of a fabric first approach, with H+H aircrete blockwork, coupled with different renewable technologies.

Light Gauge Steel vs Thin-Joint masonry

Davis Langdon were commissioned to undertake a study to provide a detailed comparison between Light Gauge Steel (LGS) Frame construction and H+H UK Ltd thin-joint masonry construction using aircrete units. The study focused on a comparison of costs, together with speed of build, programme, robustness, thermal mass and other benefits of masonry over framed construction.

Lime Tree Lodge, Norfolk

H+H products were selected for this project due to the aircretes high thermal performance which helps meet Passivhaus standards. Passivhaus is achieved by the application of high levels of insulation, avoidance of thermal bridging within the structure, low levels of air leakage all of which are qualities addressed with the use of the H+H range of Celcon Blocks.

Linden Homes Ra Build

The 266 houses in this second phase were constructed using the Ra Build method of aircrete construction with H+H blockwork and Celfix thin joint mortar. This is the 2000th Ra Build job for H+H.

Orchard Close, Wales

Contractor Robert Bishop from RT Bishop, required a swift construction solution as a replacement for timber frame that his team could successfully use to deliver the project on time. H+Hs Rå Build method, using the Thin-Joint System and a combination of H+H Jumbo Bloks and Celcon Foundation Blocks provided the perfect solution.

Oyster Reach, Tankerton

A prestigious development of five luxury apartments constructed to Passivhaus principles using the H+H Thin-Joint System. Masonry Frame Systems specified H+H Jumbo Bloks primarily because it is what was needed to meet the demands of this Passivhaus construction. H+H Jumbo Bloks offer an advanced thermal performance which adheres to Passivhaus standards.

Revolution Homes, Berkshire

Bottle Lane is a private custom build home designed and constructed by Revolution Homes. The four-bedroom, detached house stands on the site of the clients old property which was demolished to make way for a new more acoustically and thermally efficient build. As the client was overseas for the duration of the build, they wanted a company that could offer a full system build package from conceptual design to a finished product.
