Halspan takes its environmental responsibilities very seriously.Reflecting this long-term commitment, all our timber door blanks and cores are made from sustainably-sourced materials, are either PEFC or FSC® Chain of Custody certified and comply with EU Timber Regulations and UK Timber Regulations.

Environmental Management
As well as using only sustainably-sourced materials, Halspan and all it’s particle board and solid timber core mills are certified for Environmental Management in accordance with the ISO 14001 international standard. We’re also ISO 9001 certified for Quality Management.
FSC®The Forest Stewardship Council®
The FSC® is dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management worldwide.Every Halspan timber door blank is FSC® Chain of Custody certified (Look for our FSC® certified products).
PEFCThe Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification
The PEFC – by sourcing PEFC Halspan are supporting sustainably managed forests globally.Halspan timber door blanks can comply with PEFC upon request for PEFC materials (Licence PEFC/16-37-93).
UK Timber RegulationUK Timber Regulation sets its’ goal to eliminate the supply chain for illegally harvested timber. Indeed, UKTR sets out to ensure that timber is sourced and supplied within the laws of the respective country of origin.Under UKTR, businesses trading timber within the UK need to demonstrate source of timber and destination of delivery.Halspan carry out due diligence on all our timber products to ensure the timber they purchase/sell has not been illegally harvested.Every Halspan timber door blank and core complies with UKTR legislation. Regulations: timber and FLEGT Licences.
EU Timber RegulationInternationally, a great deal of work is being done to improve forestry and harvesting practices. It’s recognised that good forest management can contribute to climate change mitigation, and provide environmental benefits as well as social, political and economic betterment.In order to combat the international trade in illegal timber, the European Commission has created legislation to prevent illegal wood from being placed onto the market in the European Union. The regulation came into force in March 2013 and applies to timber and timber-based products that are produced both within the EU and imported into the Member States from outside the EU.Halspan timber door blanks and cores are produced in the EU from sustainable sources and have PEFC and FSC® Chain of Custody certification. Whilst certified timber isn’t exempt from EU Timber Regulation, these schemes provide a straightforward means of demonstrating compliance.
