Graffiti and vandalism present significant challenges for buildings in high-traffic and public environments, particularly where glazing is exposed. This CPD explores the impact of graffiti on building performance, safety, perception, cost and sustainability, and examines how architects can address these challenges through informed design and specification.The session reviews common forms of graffiti damage, assesses the strengths and limitations of traditional anti-graffiti strategies, and provides a technical overview of glass protection films as a preventative solution. It also outlines relevant regulations, standards and fire safety considerations, with particular reference to Approved Document B and designer duties under CDM 2015.By the end of the CPD, participants will be better equipped to evaluate anti-graffiti measures, understand their technical and regulatory implications, and integrate graffiti prevention into early-stage architectural design.

This CPD examines the benefits and considerations of applied window films. This includes looking at the health and safety aspects of window film, as well as selecting the correct window film for your project. It will also cover new technologies such as cloaking technology film and how this can improve data privacy within a working environment. By the end of the seminar you should have a greater understanding of: - Why window film is used and which environments they are used within- How to specify/advise on the correct applied window film for your project- How polarisation works and how this can be applied to cloaking technology film- The orientations that work with cloaking technology film and the LED screen technology

It compares films with traditional glazing, highlighting their cost-effectiveness, ease of installation, and ability to reduce embodied carbon through retrofitting. The session also covers key standards, such as Parts K, M, and B of the Building Regulations, and how films can contribute to BREEAM, LEED, and WELL certifications—offering architects a flexible, compliant, and sustainable solution for modern glass design.

Privacy in open-plan offices is a challenge. While transparency aids collaboration, it also poses risks; confidential meetings and sensitive data can be seen through glass partitions. This CPD explores polarisation cloaking technology, protecting information while maintaining an open aesthetic.
