CoolShaft smoke shaft system

Colt CoolShaft is a combined smoke and day-to-day shaft ventilation system which uses evaporative cooling technology to provide active pre-cooling of the incoming air. This is achieved without compromising the ability of the shaft system to ventilate the common areas in a fire and with exceptionally low energy consumption.
Smokemaster SM5 smoke curtain

A Smokemaster SM5 automatic smoke curtain prevents the movement of smoke and heat generated by a fire from one area to another by channelling or containing the smoke and heat.
The smoke curtain has fixing options to suit all types of ceiling configurations and can be integrated into either a suspended or a solid ceiling. It remains hidden until required.
All Colt smoke curtains conform to EN 12101-1 and are CE marked. They are available with either a D120 or a DH 120 rating, providing protection for a defined period and at a defined maximum temperature.
Smokemaster smoke curtains are well suited to most industrial and commercial buildings as they are unobtrusive, moving to their active position only when needed.
Smoke control in single storey buildings and warehouses

There are various uses to which smoke control systems can be put in the case of a fire in warehouses, factories and single storey sheds:
To facilitate escape by providing smoke free escape routes.
To reduce the likelihood of damage or loss to production or stock.
To enable the fire-fighters to better see the fire and therefore to extinguish it more speedily and effectively.
To permit greater travel distances to exits to be designed in, without the need for compartmentation, resulting in a larger or more open building plan.
A well designed smoke ventilation system should be able to maintain adequate smoke free escape conditions at low level to allow the building to be evacuated with minimum risk of smoke inhalation, injury or death.

AXS 140 AOV smoke ventilator and roof access hatch

AXS 140 is a combined AOV smoke ventilator and roof access hatch designed providing either 1.0m2 or 1.5m2 measured free area in accordance with Approved Document B. It is suitable for use as a staircase ventilator or roof mounted lobby/corridor ventilator and to provide external roof access. It has been tested to and is in compliance with BS EN 12101-2 and is CE marked.

Ventilation systems for car parks and service areas

Ventilation systems for car parks, loading bays and service areas are needed to achieve two objectives. Day-to-day ventilation is needed to control build-up of vehicle exhaust fumes or spilled fuel. Acceptable day-to-day air quality is maintained by removing exhaust gases produced by vehicles and by ensuring that there are no pockets of stagnant air. Smoke ventilation is needed to provide a means of clearing smoke from the car park during and after a fire. This will limit smoke temperatures and structural damage and inhibit smoke spread between floors.

Maximising energy performance and productivity with solar shading

The features and benefits of solar shading systems include optimum performance by reducing solar heat gains whilst maintaining acceptable levels of natural daylight; reduction of cooling loads in summer; reduction of heating requirements in winter; and the potential for striking aesthetic impact.

Apollo natural roof ventilator

Apollo is a natural ventilator providing
both smoke ventilation and environmental
ventilation. If the ATI option is selected, ventilation can continue even in bad weather. If the translucent flap option is selected, natural daylight can enter through its flaps. It has been tested to EN12101-2 and is CE marked.

UL is highly resistant to weather and aerodynamically efficient, though a choice of louvre needs to be made based on the requirements of the project.
1UL is a single bank louvre system designed for screening or cladding applications when rain defence is not of primary importance. 2UL is a double bank louvre system which provides high airflow performance with a good degree of rain defence. 3UL is a triple bank louvre system designed for use where rain defence is of the utmost importance.

FM1 fire curtain

A fire curtain is used where, if there is a fire, it is necessary to create a temporary barrier within an opening which seals off the area on fire. The curtain descends and prevents any fire and smoke from spreading from one area to another. It also allows people access to protected escape routes without any loss of fire resistance.
A FM-1 fire curtain comprises a flexible fire-resistant fabric which is wound around a circular tube. Upon receiving a signal from the fire alarm system or on loss of power the curtain automatically unwinds to its operational position.
FM-1 fire curtains have been tested as fire barriers in accordance with EN 1634-1, providing protection for a defined period and at a defined maximum temperature.
Cyclone induction jet fan

Colt Cyclone is a low profile, high velocity induction fan intended to control air movement in car parks and underground service areas. Cyclone reduces levels of polluted air during day to day use and assists with the extraction of smoke in the event of a fire, directing polluted air and smoke towards the extract positions in a car park or underground service area. It is tested and certified to EN 12101-3.
Cyclone uses tunnel ventilation technology to eliminate the need for costly and bulky ductwork. Compared to ductwork systems, this may save car-parking spaces, reduce running costs and noise, and make the car park a lighter, less cluttered environment.
