The site assembled modular design can work on flat, pitched and barrel vaulted roofs with continuous lengths of up to 200m

Ayrshire College

Ayrshire technical College required replacement of their rooflights which are positioned over engineering workshop areas. The designated areas required good levels of light but with high quality transmission and insulation. The college needed a solution that was easy to install and so project time managed to ensure minimised noise and disruption. A series of Multivault GRP vaults were installed covering an area of approx. 800m2 or 15% of the total roof area providing an economic and yet highly effective daylighting solution.

Ballyseede Castle

Ballyseede Castle located near Tralee, dates back to the 16th century but was transformed in the 1960s into one of Ireland’s most luxurious hotels. As part of a new extension Brett Martin Daylight Systems was called upon to provide an aesthetically pleasing daylight solution for the orangery. Brett Martin supplied a comprehensive Ritchlight skylights package helping to create a light, bright environment for guests and staff, whilst blending beautifully with the character of this stately, listed building. Ritchlight Ultra is a precision-engineered, highly adaptable glazing system, providing specifiers with a versatile way to create architecturally stunning pitched skylights.

BoxPark Marketplace

With the pop-up culture seen as a fast, low-cost solution to revitalising urban environments, Brett Martin Daylight Systems’ lightweight, robust Marlon CS profiled polycarbonate glazing panels have been an integral element in the creation of Boxpark Croydon, a new pop-up mall featuring shopping and dining venues built from 96 stripped and refitted shipping containers arranged around a covered courtyard space for year-round events. The project saw the creation of a transparent roof made up of Marlon CS Longlife panels which can be used to form complete roof coverings or incorporated into any corrugated metal roofing and cladding system.

Cardiff Ice Arena

Marlon Clickfix1040 polycarbonate glazing panels in a range of geometric shapes played a significant role in the design of the Ice Arena Wales, bringing light and exceptional aesthetics to this world-class facility near Cardiff bay. Ice Arena is home to the Cardiff Devils and is a 3,000 seat arena featuring an Olympic standard primary rink for hockey and figure skating. More than 450m2 of Marlon Clickfix RL were cut-to-fit and installed to provide a daylighting solution which offered optimum light transmission, ease of installation and suit the angular metal cladding profile.

Dover Fuelling Solutions Factory

A comprehensive set of rooflight solutions has been provided, including Energysaver factory assembled GRP rooflights, to a newly expanded production facility in Dundee. Brett Martin was selected for this project due to meeting for 3 separate specifications. This involved supplying daylighting solutions to an existing building, new building and link corridor. These rooflight play a significant part in ensuring this facility meets its energy targets, whilst enhancing the working environment. Specifications: Factory Assembled Rooflights: 230m2 of Trilite 3.0 Energysaver FAIRs Vaults: 2 x 8m and 10 m Triple skin GRP Multivaults Skylights: 2 pyramid glass Ritchlights, 2.5m x 2.5m

Hendersons Group Warehouse

In 2017 BMDS supplied Multivault GRP rooflights to a new build, 180,000 sq ft ambient warehouse constructed as part of a growth and expansion redevelopment at the Henderson Group headquarters in Mallusk outside Belfast. The new 12.5million warehouse which incorporates cutting edge design, was designed to streamline logistics and is one of the largest of its kind in Northern Ireland. BMDS supplied Multivault GRP Barrel rooflights to cover just over 2,200m2 or approx. 13% of the roof area – 22 runs extending over 16 metres with a further 2 runs of 8 metres streaming natural light into the group warehouse.

Here East

The former press and broadcast centre in London’s Olympic Park has been transformed into the one of the biggest European tech hubs, with Marlon Clickfix RL glazing system glazed with Marlon Clickfix 1040 polycarbonate panels. One of the challenges for the architect was finding a thermally- efficient rooflight solution which would work at a low 7° pitch. Marlon Clickfix 1040 has interlocking connections that click into place forming glazed areas of unlimited size and shape. It provides a low pitch rooflight maximising natural light achieving the required performance of highly sustainable buildings, and creates a bright, naturally-lit environment.

Hythe Swimming Pool

Hythe swimming pool is based in a coastal location and required a durable solution for its roof refurbishment. The Clickfix RL panel glazing system was selected for this single storey building due to its modern seamless fixing free appearance and superior thermal performance. The required 9m sheet length necesitated the design of bespoke flashing to accommodate more expansion. White panels were utilised to ensure the appropriate amount of light as the Clickfix RL system covers 800m2 or 100% of the roof. The new roof at Hythe illuminates the pool with bright white light whilst also providing the required thermal efficiency.

Leighton Buzzard Station

Mardome rooflights were specified for this very unusual roof layout with its lattice arrangement of rooflights. As only the glazing element of the rooflights needed replacing Mardome Reflex was the perfect solution and technical experts from Brett Martin carried out a site survey and subsequent visit to replace one of the original domes, ensuring a perfect fit before manufacturing 130 Mardome Reflex rooflights for the whole roof. Supplied with clear polycarbonate the rooflights will offer the station co-extruded UV protection which will protect the rooflights for at least 20 years.

With the stadium width 84 metres at its deepest, the transparent roof covers all 54,000 spectator seats protecting fans from the elements as well as ensuring optimum grass growth for pitch perfect conditions.

Middlewich Environmental Hub

1,000m of red and blue double skin FAIRs (factory assembled insulating rooflights) provide an even and diffused daylight spread in Middlewich environmental hub in Cheshire. The hub operates as a multi-use site and the angled composite panels were fitted to a recycling centre as well as a vehicle workshop. The FAIRs were manufactured to to meet the specific light transmission requirements stipulated by the customer and specified to meet insulation fire and safety requirements.
