Alpha machine lay block paving provides a beautiful and speedy solution to a tight site programme.

Alpha machine lay block paving provides a beautiful and speedy solution to a tight site programme.

Brett Landscaping

A housing development in Southminster has benefitted from having an access road installed with machine lay block paving to deliver a speedy and high quality finish in outstanding time. The access road was only 3m wide and by laying the blocks by hand, there would have been only enough room for two operatives to work side by side. This meant the entire 83m stretch of road would have taken three days to complete and would have delayed follow-on trades so the road surface needed to be completed quickly. Brett Omega Flow permeable paving provides the SuDS for the car parks on the Sixfields leisure development in Northampton

Brett Landscaping

The Sixfields development is part of the Northampton Brownfield Initiative where a permeable pavement was chosen for the car park which serves the rugby and football clubs. Sitting on the bank of the River Nene, it was evident that any design had to minimise future risk of flooding if it was to be viable. Brett advised on the use of SuDS to minimise the risk of any future flooding on the site. The two car parks, of 19,000m2 and 16,000m2 respectively, were both constructed using Omega Flow permeable paving. To view the whole case study click the link.

Permeable paving provides the SuDS compliant solution to the car park of a distribution centre in Yorkshire

Brett Landscaping

As part of their flood prevention strategy Bassetlaw District Council required the distribution centre to be fully SuDS compliant . Logistics and warehousing company DB Symmetry requested that the hard-landscaping for their car park must be a permeable solution, so a sustainable drainage system (SuDS) was designed. Permeable paving was chosen as a key part of the overall surface water drainage strategy as this achieved all of the requirements of the planning team, while maximising the use of the land available for the project for the client. Permeable paving provides the SuDS solution for a Social Housing development

Brett Landscaping

Early on in the design of this Social Housing scheme at Stump Cross, Pontefract, it was decided that only a permeable pavement would work as the SuDS solution for this development. As the existing drainage infrastructure in the area was already working close to its capacity any additional run off from this developments could cause surface water flooding. Swales and ponds were not be feasible as there was insufficient space available for them. A permeable pavement was therefore chosen as there was no additional land take involved. Piatto paving brings granite look to Deaconess House

Piatto paving brings granite look to Deaconess House

Brett Landscaping

Deaconess House, a former hospital, dates back to 1894 and the new development retains the frontage of the original building, with a modern construction to the rear. Given the building’s proximity to Holyrood Park, the planning conditions specified the use of indigenous stone for all paving on the project from within 20 miles of the site. However, when the contractor researched the options it was recognised that this was impractical and that Brett Landscaping's Piatto range would provide an equally effective solution to the project’s needs. Cadet offered a unique solution to protect the Victorian bridge structure without compromising the existing access across the bridge. Vale Road bridge had many design aspects which included protecting the structure from the rigours of passing traffic, without reducing the width of the carriageway available for traffic to pass and maintaining access for pedestrians. A further challenge was the effective drainage of rain water build-up to the rear of the kerbs. To view the whole case study please click the link below.
