Protecting People, Plant and Property: How rising bollards meet the challenges set by Martyn’s Law.
BFT Automation UK Limited
The last decade has been a steady rise in the use of vehicles in ram raids and terrorist attacks. Already forced to adapt designs to counter this new threat, architects must now take into consideration the implications of the Protect Duty, or Martyn’s Law. This will require event venues to employ more stringent anti-terrorism measures, including hostile vehicle mitigation. But do we all want to live behind ugly bars and barriers? Rising bollards are capable of stopping a 7-tonne truck travelling at 50mph, and come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and finishes. This seminar (available as both face-to-face and via Teams or Zoom) explores the implications of the new legislation, the different types of bollard available and how to choose the right one for your project, and the standards with which they must all comply.
By the end of this CPD, delegates ought to know:
1. The different types of bollard available.
2. How to select the best rising bollard for your project.
3. How to ensure a problem-free installation – identifying the right contractor.
4. The standards and regulatory compliance.
5. Routine care and common maintenance issues.
This CPD is also available online.
