Hydro-electric scheme - Scotland

OVERVIEW

In January 2017 JKH Drainage Units were asked by Innogy to design a precast structure for a hydro-electric scheme in Scotland.

Because of the remoteness of the site it would have been difficult to construct the necessary structure from in-situ concrete.

The structure was also restricted by the size of crane that could access the site, so there was a 3500kg weight limit to any one component.

Because the sub structure on the site was granite rock, they could not accurately cut a flat foundation.

JKH draw up a proposal using a series of 200mm thick pre-cast concrete panels that could be located onto galvanised saddles and positioned using a steel framework within the sub-base of site poured concrete.

The whole structure was drawn up in 3D using Solidworks allowing the customer to view the designs in high detail from approval through to installation.
