OVERVIEW
When Aquatic Control Engineering (ACE), a company specialising in mechanical solutions for flood defences and biodiversity conservation, faced significant complexity and costs with developing bespoke designs for water control equipment installations, they turned to JKH for help developing a more standardised solution.
Recognising the need for a more efficient and cost-effective solution, ACE sought JKH’s expertise to develop a modular precast concrete headwall system that could address their needs.
The solution
JKH Ltd collaborated closely with ACE to design a groundbreaking modular tilting weir headwall solution. Utilising their extensive expertise in precast concrete solutions, the team at JKH conducted Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis to revise the initial designs to ensure cost effective manufacturing as well as ease of installation.
This system was meticulously developed to comprise a simple panel assembly design to offer adaptability for various water level management situations, as well as the flexibility to align with lift capacity and access limitations presented by even the most demanding of sites.
The resulting modular design allows for multiple options and accessories, making it suitable for a range of uses including habitat creation, peat regeneration schemes, water level management, housing developments, and general drainage.
