Hampden House, Great Hampden, Great Missenden

OVERVIEW

Nestled in the heart of the Chiltern Hills sits Hampden House, a stunning Grade 1 listed country house overlooking 350 acres of historic parkland and beech woods. This breathtaking 16th century house hosts private weddings and events each year.

In 2011, Hampden House was painted using KEIM Granital, in colour 9091, which demonstrates the longevity and durability of KEIM Mineral Paints. As a wedding venue, it needs to look prestigious and required a complete refresh in 2025.

The client, Hampden Insurance Holdings Ltd, contacted KEIM to revisit the country house and recommend the most suitable paint system.

Nicola Young, Senior Colourist at KEIM Mineral Paints created a number of colour sample options to help the client choose a colour to repaint the property, varying from a colourwash finish to flat matt. The client chose a solid opaque finish.

Dave Smith, Senior Sales Executive completed a site visit during which damage was noted to both the facade (down to string course) and to the render. The latter was repaired using lime render before KEIM Soldalit Fixativ was applied to equalise the surface porosity.

A two-coat KEIM Soldalit-ME, in a bespoke colour, was then applied onto the smooth architectural detailing, string courses, quoins, render and roughcast render to create a uniform flat matt finish that will last for another 15 years or more.
