OVERVIEW
Hunter Douglas Architectural contributed to the creation of the new Rheden City Hall, a building designed with sustainability and circular principles at its core. The project reused timber from the former City Hall, combining reclaimed and new Western Red Cedar to create 1,640 m² of elegant Derako® Veneered Wood Linear ceilings. Reclaimed timber, treated with a fire-retardant coating, was featured in the council chamber, blending heritage with modern design, while new timber ensured a seamless look throughout the building.
With refined aesthetics, excellent acoustics, and careful collaboration with the architects and contractors, the ceilings reflect a perfect balance of sustainability, safety, and functionality. The new City Hall stands as a landmark for sustainable public architecture, demonstrating how innovative design and materials can serve both people and the planet.
