The specifcation

The Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council wanted the new school to be fitting for the 21st century and bring them to the forefront of modern-day roofing technology. These requirements were met by BauderSOLAR’s innovative photovoltaic system, which delivers significant cost and environmental benefits, as well as providing an eye-catching visual reminder of the importance of sustainability.

Roof areas totalling 300m² were fitted with 92 PV modules, which were secured to Bauder’s Thermofol Single Ply waterproofing, enabling the new Awel-y-Mor school to generate at least 25.9 Megawatt Hours of solar power each year. The incredible simplicity of the installation also meant that the entire PV array could be installed in just three days ensuring that there was no disruption to the commencing school term.
