68 Broadwick Street

The architects challenged us to create a completely unique reception space, combining a traditional polished concrete floor with a unique Terrazzo border. Broadwick Street in London is a brilliant example of how you can use the versatility of polished concrete to create some really stunning effects.

The space features 85-square-metres of Lazenby’s iconic Polished Concrete in a light-enhancing shade that provides a delicate contrast to the warm timber cladding and contemporary interior design.

Polished concrete is known for its classic mottled texture. Combined with the bright Off White colour, the result is an almost marble-like finish.

It’s also a pragmatic choice for architects. Durable and hard-wearing with a timeless aesthetic, polished concrete is ideally suited to high-traffic commercial spaces.

In addition to traditional polished concrete, Broadwick Street features a stunning Terrazzo border that extends around the curved reception desk, planters and staircase. Totalling 15-square-metres, the Terrazzo is encased in a decadent 6mm brass trim.

After the polished concrete and trims were installed, Lazenby poured a 70mm sub base into the border. At just 30mm deep, the Terrazzo was then fully bonded to the sub base before a one-week curing process and final polish. The concrete has been hand-mixed and lightened to create an almost white background to enhance the bespoke buff aggregate.
