OVERVIEW
Over 1,000m2 of Lazenby’s cementitious Terrazzo flooring was poured in-situ throughout the entrance space. The flooring featured a complex design of three different colour and aggregate combinations, each separated by aluminium rails.
The helical staircase emerges from the Great Hall and extends through five floors of the London building. Its unique design and construction method provides a real statement piece. Bespoke cut polystyrene void former was added to the ramped sub-floor followed by a lightweight, reinforced concrete slab. Lazenby’s hand-mixed 30mm Terrazzo system is the ultra-slim final layer.
The space is finished with a thirty metre long Terrazzo bench to provide the perfect space for students to meet and socialize. A project of this scale and ambition is entirely unique and, for Mace, Lazenby were the obvious choice, achieving a remarkable architectural feat that “exactly matches the client and architect’s vision.”
