OVERVIEW
The upmarket development was built on a sloping site which required an attractive retaining wall.
A large retaining wall was required but space was limited. The retaining wall needed to incorporate corners, curves and steps, as well as supporting an elevated car park above it.
The existing site conditions were far from ideal and required significant remediation works.
Peter Leonard, Quantity Surveyor at Carpenterbuild Ltd commented: “Having no prior awareness of alternative retention methods, we were going to use a Gabion Basket system. We had previous experience using Gabions on other schemes.”
