Manchester Airport

Manchester Airport Group (MAG) is a leading UK airport group that owns and operates Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands airports, together with a significant property business.

In 2011 they began a project of upgrading their entire airport perimeter security fencing and gates to cope with an increase in passengers and estate traffic.

The Brief

Security was paramount when it came to the brief for a new perimeter fence line and physical access control. There are a number of features that have not been included in this case study for security reasons.

• The fence had to have the ability to be erected in a variety of ways, including on concrete, dug in, base plated and ground buried
• Security Toppings were required
• Strong anti-cut wires on any mesh
• Anti-climb properties to prevent scaling
• Cost effective due to the size of the fence line
