-Specifications and Requirements
-The Challenge
When Raybloc was presented with the opportunity to contribute to Fujifilm UK’s new facility in Bedford, the challenge was clear: to develop and manufacture radiation protection solutions that seamlessly merged innovative design and optimal shielding functionality.
The objective was to create an X-ray showroom that not only met stringent safety requirements but also provided an environment of comfort, aesthetics, and convenience for both radiographers and clients to best represent FUJIFILM’s brand and capability.
Installation of Customised Radiation Protection Solutions
Raybloc’s collaboration with FUJIFILM Corporation marked a milestone in the installation of bespoke radiation protection solutions. The process involved a meticulous integration of various components, including oak timber-framed lead doors with laminate faces, and the incorporation of a state-of-the-art Sense-X lead screen. The expertise of Apollo Building Services and MCS Building Services Ltd in installing the X-Ray Screen and Radiation-Protective Doors, respectively, ensured that the solutions were effectively integrated into the facility’s infrastructure
The Solution
Raybloc’s solution involved the creation of radiation-shielding elements that harmoniously blended functionality and aesthetics. The project was completed in two phases.
Phase 1:
In the first phase, we delivered X-ray protective doors, equipped with flush-mounted warning lights to provide an additional layer of safety and our signature frameless X-ray screen that enables enhanced communication and ease of movement for radiographers while maintaining the required level of protection.
Phase 2:
In the second phase, the Raybloc® Screen was upgraded to our newly launched Sense-X® Screen. Additionally, the Sense-X LED lighting was synced with the room lighting to create an ambience effect that not only projected from the screen, but also from the ceiling of the room. This results in a welcoming workspace for the staff and also demonstrates perfectly to visitors how visionary rooms like this can help patients deal with clinical anxiety. Lastly, FUJIFILM branding was added to the Sense-X Screen to add a personalised touch to the facility.
This holistic approach to radiation protection transformed the X-ray showroom into a model of the future for design and safety in radiation controlled areas.
The Benefits of Installing Control Booths and X-Ray Doors from Raybloc
The installation of Raybloc’s radiation protection solutions brought forth numerous benefits. The lead lined doorsets with flush warning lights enhanced safety protocols while maintaining an inviting atmosphere. The Sense-X screen not only added aesthetic appeal to the room but it also offered additional visibility for radiographers and a sense of openness within the X-ray room. The integration of these elements reflected a commitment to the well-being of both staff and clients, setting a new benchmark for projects involving integral X ray protection.
