Freedom in Motion: A Transformational Journey with Innova at Longacre

OVERVIEW

The Challenge

Caring for a growing disabled child like William presents mounting physical and logistical demands. Early on, his mother could manage without equipment, but as William became taller and heavier, manual transfers became impractical and unsafe. His mobility was highly restricted on land, often resulting in discomfort and pain. Public leisure centres lacked appropriate facilities, leaving his family with no viable external options for therapeutic support. They needed a fully accessible, calming space where William could move freely, safely, and with dignity—ideally without leaving home.

Approach

Innova partnered with William’s family from day one to understand his unique needs and deliver a solution grounded in empathy, innovation, and clinical expertise. A decommissioned building on their property offered the perfect canvas for creating a bespoke hydrotherapy environment. Innova’s representative worked closely with the family and therapists to identify the best-fit products—prioritising ease of use, comfort, and safety.

The approach centred on enabling William to enjoy therapy without logistical strain, using a suite of equipment tailored to reduce transfers, enhance movement, and restore family connection through shared experiences.

Implementation

The project included:

  • Hydrotherapy Pool Design: A quiet, private pool designed for solo use, ensuring William could relax without noise, distraction, or danger.
  • Magnetic Ceiling Hoist System: Referred to by the family as “the Porsche of hoists,” this advanced solution offered smooth, automatic transitions from room to room—removing the need for manual lifting and improving flow between therapy stages.
  • Height-Adjustable Changing Bench: Integrated with the hoist system, allowing seamless transitions and reducing stress for support staff and William alike.
  • Ambient Lighting & Bubble Features: Installed to extend use into darker winter evenings and elevate sensory comfort year-round.

The holistic setup drastically reduced manual handling and transformed a corner of the property into a haven of healing and freedom.

Results

  • Therapeutic Freedom:
  • William can now access hydrotherapy at any time, without needing transport or external scheduling. His movement is easier, less painful, and far more frequent.
  • Emotional Impact: William’s wellbeing has improved visibly. His mother describes the experience as “heaven” and speaks to the joy of watching him splash and float free from restriction.
  • Family Connection: The facility allows the family to take part in water-based activities together, lifting morale and creating new shared memories.
  • Client Satisfaction: The family credits Innova with turning possibility into reality. From product selection to technical installation, they felt supported every step of the way.

“I’m so pleased we went with Innova. That was the best thing we’ve ever done.”
