Festival Place welcomes 20 million shoppers a year. A condition survey in 2023 highlighted some of the eight entrance mats weren't meeting the mark. The original entrances were a mix-match of products and fibres with worn and buckled sections. Our long-time install and supply partner, Master Matting, recommended replacing all eight entrances.

Instead of waiting six weeks for replacement European supplies, they suggested INTRAsystems, UK manufactured and delivered in less than one week. Knowing our products so well, they recommended the cost-effective, recycled and hard-wearing INTRAlink². Quick delivery, easy to install and no disruption to trade.

Highly Absorbent

The shopping centre was struggling with moisture transfer from the old Entrance Matting systems, particularly on rainy days. The management team wanted to make sure the new matting would soak up the water and keep the rest of the flooring clean, dry and safe. We compared the coverage and absorption rates of the old mats with INTRAlink² and the numbers spoke for themselves. 90% fibre coverage and absorption rates of 4.86L.m² - nearly 30% more than the previous product.

Practically Perfect

INTRAlink² is a PVC, closed construction system, similar to what Festival Place had installed previously. However, we use 100% recycled PVC and the interlocking tiles are easier to handle, cut and install. Each tile is 250mm x 250mm and we package them in boxes of 24 (1.5m²). Installers can cut tiles to shape on site with a safety knife. So, fitting in revolving doors and around tight angles is less time consuming and less of a headache.

The square format also makes them hard-wearing, with a higher fibre content. Tightly packed recycled nylon (ECONYL®) fibres stand up against multi-directional traffic and can easily handle the millions of feet and wheels. It's one reason they're so popular for retail, education and healthcare settings.

Reliably Smart

They're available in a range of colours, but Festival Place chose Anthracite Grey 607 for a smart look and great at hiding the dirt. But with the closed construction, a regular clean with a rotating brush vacuum will help keep them looking in tip-top condition.

We supply a 5-year warranty as standard, but depending on traffic and care routines, they should last longer than that. However, if sections do become worn or stained, individual tiles are easy to replace.
