Centenary Way

OVERVIEW

Although our clients initially specified Diamond Polished Concrete, we proposed a shift to Terrazzo to achieve a lighter colour and aggregate blend. We created the strikingly minimalist palette by hand-mixing white base colour with fine grey limestone, sourced from Derbyshire. The aggregate has been exposed with our signature ground and polish with the added benefit of achieving a commercially friendly +36PTV rating in the wet.

This entire project was conceived with sustainability and practicality in mind. We used a special low-shrink concrete for the subbase allowing us to cast the floor at just 30mm thick across extra-large joint-free bays. Some bays were cast to almost 100 m2 without the need for joints! With less than half the amount of aggregate and a quick-drying screed containing 30% less cement than concrete, our bespoke Terrazzo installation has serious green credentials. It’s all laid over underfloor heating for maximum thermal efficiency and finished with a low VOC sealer.
