Founded in 1912, The Club relocated its world-class training facility in 2020 in Norwood, Massachusetts. Studio Troika in Boston designed this new Olympic caliber facility. Partner Michael Samra said, “We wanted to make the entrance warm and inviting.” Trespa® Meteon® panels in NW02 Elegant Oak in Satin finish were selected.The Studio Troika team sought an exterior solution that would be both highly durable and low maintenance. Michael shared that they evaluated the total lifecycle cost of materials and knew the Trespa® Meteon® panels would look good year after year. “Knowing the height of the building, there is no one going up that high to maintain it.” The panels were face scored, a cost efficient use of materials, to give the look of siding.

Trespa® Meteon® NW02 Elegant Oak is chosen for the Berkeley House project in Wothorpe. A new departure for a traditional builder who wanted a crisp modern appearance yet using materials with a traditional nature. The use of Wood decors gives a warm elegance to the façade.

Pura® NFC by Trespa brings Pure Delight to Major Shopping CentreWhen the largest factory outlet shopping centre in the North East of England was given a makeover, Pura® NFC by Trespa secured a prominent role in providing the 70-plus retail premises with a fresh, modern appeal to customers.The £3million refurbishment, that included paving, lighting, landscaping and furniture in addition to shop front treatment, was given the go-ahead in 2017. And, says centre manager Jerry Hatch, ‘the overall impact and impression made by Pura® NFC siding was the stand out part of the finished article.”

Trespa® Building Materials Clad Prominent New England LibraryThirty minutes south of Boston, Massachusetts sits the premier Tufts Library, originally founded in 1879. The town was in need of a new library building and determined they would demolish the old structure and start fresh. Building a new library became an opportunity for the town; the building would become the focus of The Landing district within Weymouth, a central area in town in the midst of revitalization. Specializing in education and library design, Tappé Architects was chosen to design the community’s new library and neighboring park. Principal Chris Blessen shared the important role that the new library would serve. “The goal of the design was to create interior and exterior public space to anchor the community.

Snow or shine, Pura® NFC by Trespa withstands the hardest weather conditionsNestled between the majestic peaks of the Elk Mountains in the heart of White River National Forest, Aspen, Colorado is one of the most luxurious ski resorts in the world. The form of the building was created by owner / developer David Grainger with Trespa® products in mind. He says: "Having seen this material used for offices in and around London and major residential apartment buildings, I decided to use the product on the house." He adds: "It was well worth doing, particularly in respect of the low-maintenance requirements of the product."

A winning combination: outstanding weather resistance with the look & feel of wood siding“For a small city like Dopiewo, which is located about 12km west of Poznań in the western part of Poland, a new high school highlights the city’s status as the centre of the‘gmina’ – as municipalities are called here in Poland”, says Bart Kosinski, trespa’s area account manager. “therefore, when the project was initiated a few years ago, the ambitions were lofty, as the city council wanted their brand new school complex to make a clear statement. It had to reflect at first sight the central part it would play in the local education system”.

North of the arctic circle, Trespa® Meteon® panels brave the elementsTromsø, Norway’s northernmost city, is located on an island well above the Arctic Circle. Tromsø has a population of nearly 80,000, and at such an exceptionally high latitude, there are only two other cities of similar or larger size anywhere in the world. Therefore, when Knut Brandsberg-Dahl of Filter/Arkitekter in Oslo decided to take part in the competition for a new school building, he was aware that the project would be unusual in more than one way.“We are a fairly small architectural firm that was founded in 1999, with two partners, Thomas Lærdal and myself, and a total of ten architects. Although we do housing projects as well, public buildings feature prominently in our portfolio – and among them, educational buildings are certainly a forte”, summarises Knut Brandsberg-Dahl. “This focussed expertise is important, because all larger public projects are competitions, and we need both good ideas and excellent credentials to win them. The Sommerlyst School in Tromsø was no exception”.

The villas were developed using modular build with the aim of achieving government sustainability targets. Trespa® Meteon® was used in a radical, colourful way on every elevation of the build, combining aesthetics with sustainability.

Trespa® Meteon® Modernizes 1920s Chicago High SchoolConstructed in 1926, West Chicago High School has seen many renovations over the years. Specialising in Pre-K and K-12 education, DLA Architects developed a plan for future expansion over 20 years ago during the building’s last renovation and saw it through in 2020. The team was tasked to create more flexible space for the school to better align with its current and future needs, all while preserving the historical architecture of the building.

Pura® NFC by Trespa helps modern meet traditional in multifamily residenceIn Seattle’s sought-after Eastlake neighborhood, housing is becoming scarce. The community is sandwiched between the city’s beautiful Lake Union and main freeway, creating a popular destination with limited real estate. Recognizing the need for improved housing in this landstrapped space, Shilshole Development, LLC, undertook construction of a new multifamily residence, the Shelton Eastlake Apartment Complex. Right away the development team realized the success of their project hinged on creating an apartment complex that added both housing and character to the Eastlake community. Multifamily developments have a reputation for focusing on function, rather than form, to maximize profits.

Pura® NFC by Trespa as connecting factor between two building volumesIn close cooperation with Guus Vedder (2•1 Architecten), architect Hendrik Jan van der Valk (Van der Valk Woudst ra) has designed a modern villa, consisting of two main volumes. The villa was for a private client and is located in a rural village in the Veluwe region. One volume is used as living/ dining room and kitchen, while the bedrooms, bathrooms, playroom and technical area are located in the other.The client had a number of explicit requirements for the design of the villa which is located on a large plot in a wooded area. In addition to various aesthetic aspects, the villa had to be sustainable and energy neutral. The facades, roofs and floors were therefore very well insulated and of airtight construction. All window frames have aluminium profiles with optimum insulation and have triple glazing. The whole house is equipped with domotics and all installations are powered by the solar panels that were fitted; there is therefore no need for a gas connection.

Modern New England Home Features Pura® NFC SidingSituated in Burlington, Vermont was a 1.5-acre lot, a property that had been owned by a local family for over 70 years, but the land remained undisturbed and never developed. With the Adirondacks visible off in the distance, this property was known for its prime location and fabulous views; the land was important to the family as well as to the local community. In 2018, the owner decided it would be nice to finally build a home on the land. The goal was a modern home that would complement the surrounding wooded backdrop.

A CLEANROOM SOLUTION DESIGNED FOR THE 'CHAMPIONS LEAGUE' AMONG PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIESThe Group's Kemmlit, a company based in nearby Dusslingen, was founded in 1967. In Germany and throughout Europe, it is one of the leading processors of HPL (High Pressure Laminate) panels; a material that Kemmlit has been using for 27 years. The company's core competencies include the installation of clean rooms, personnel airlocks and changing rooms at the highest level in Germany and abroad.For Ever Pharma in Jena, Kemmlit recently equipped the entire changing room area, personnel airlocks and pass-through cabinets up to cleanroom class B according to the GMP requirements.Ralf Stahl, Head of Cleanroom Division at Kemmlit, gets straight to the point: “Such cleanrooms clearly belong to the 'top class'. Class B - as specified at Ever Pharma - represents the highest level at which personnel still have access to the premises. Above this is only Class A, which must be operated completely free of personnel.” This high standard is an essential requirement for the pharmaceuticals produced by Ever Pharma in Jena: the site specializes in cytostatics and medication for neurological applications. Such high-end products must be manufactured under the highest hygiene conditions.

Contemporary Apartments Developed for Affluent Dallas NeighbourhoodWhile designing an apartment building in the wealthy Highland Park neighbourhood, developer and CEO of VALIDUS development corp. Luis Gonzalez had a vision for something unlike the traditional Dallas home. Creating a Scandinavian aesthetic was desired for the new building. The Normandy building, including 21 luxury apartment units, features contemporary style both inside and out.

Cladding Panels: ''A sense of space and openness''The award-winning design of the Rundeskogen Towers combines innovative forms and materials, while guaranteeing residents and neighbors breathtaking views of the Norwegian fjords.The Rundeskogen Towers in Sandnes, Norway, are an extraordinary example of the novel and exceptional use of space and hybrid construction structures. Located in an area dominated by small-scale buildings, the three residential high-rises stand out by their volume and height. Yet, architects Helen & Hard and dRMM created a clever and distinctive design that integrates them with their surroundings and gives back to the community by creating abundant public spaces.

Stunningly different: a project with a mission in AmsterdamCentury-old, typically narrow brick houses, their gabled Renaissance façades reflected by the Old Town’s ‘grachten’, the ubiquitous canal system – this is the slightly clichéed picture conjured up by Amsterdam, and it could not be further away from bold, contemporary architecture. The Netherlands, though, have been a hotbed for modern art and radical design innovation since the 1920s: we owe to creative Dutch minds, from Piet Mondriaan to Gerrit Rietveld to Rem Koolhaas, some of the most disruptive evolutions in the way we interact with colours, shapes and living spaces. Accordingly, ‘studio thonik’– a new building in Amsterdam that has become instantly iconic – is not nearly as unexpected as it might seem at first sight.It is nonetheless highly unusual in more than one respect. A foray into architecture by a gifted graphic designer who is at the same time the building’s owner, it defied conventions right from the start. A multi-purpose construction with long term, built-in flexibility, it is sustainable not simply by its execution, but by its very concept. And with its dazzling striped façades, it has transformed a small, rather unpromising lot on nondescript Wibaustraat, the main arterial road south of the city centre, into an overnight landmark.

At first sight, this evolution might feel counterintuitive: for decades, larger had been better. Spacious homes and apartments were widely seen as highly desirable, as the prerequisite of well-being, and as an indisputable sign of personal success.Then, several lifestyle and social trends started to converge, transforming a former certitude into a debatable choice. Could it be that when fully considered - the constraints of a conventional lifestyle outweighed its benefits? Was a 30-year mortgage really the asking price for happiness? Didn’t possessions, all too often, end up in clutter? How sustainable were large homes when private housing accounts for about 25 % of global energy consump­tion? Wasn’t the combination of flexibility and freedom the real ultimate luxury?

Combining hygiene, function, ergonomics and visual appeal: a new operating unit shows the wayLocated in the northern part of Baden-Württemberg – the federal state closest to France and Switzerland – Diako Mannheim is one of the major hospitals in this area of Germany. It was founded in 1861 as the ‘Evangelischer Verein für Krankenpflege durch Diakonissen’. Meanwhile, the deaconesses are long gone and the eventful history of the institution – which even includes a temporary relocation in repurposed barracks – has given way to a healthcare facility that caters to 18,000 inpatients and carries out over 12,000 surgical procedures per year.As early as 2012, it had become clear that, as far as the operating theatres were concerned, there was ample room for improvement. The theatres were located wide apart on two different floors, while ancillary areas were in short supply and impractical. As a result, the hospital incurred additional expenses and a variety of inconveniences. To solve these issues once and for all, an ambitious project was initiated: the two operating theatres would be relocated next to each other and complemented by three additional, state-of-the-art theatres. The concept called for a brand new extension: the building permit was requested in October 2017, and the new operating unit was inaugurated in September 2021.

A promising venture : the community healthcare centre in HohensteinIn the small city of Hohenstein, tucked away in the middle of the Swabian Jura, halfway between Tübingen and Ulm in Southern Germany, a recently built healthcare centre is breaking ground in more than one way. The inno­va­tive ‘PORT Gesundheitszentrum’, which has been endorsed and sponsored by the Robert Bosch Foundation, is using advanced technology – including an online eHealth platform – to provide the community with comprehensive medical services.

This private house stands in an exclusive part of Stamford, which is a beautiful historic Georgian Town in Lincolnshire (UK). The architectural style is very contemporary for that region but fits in a unique and attractive way with the surroundings.

Top-of-the-range lab solution for a major new production siteNext to the company’s headquarters in Aalen, 70km east of Stuttgart in Southern Germany, Papierfabrik Palm – one of the leading European manufacturers of papers for the printing industry, corrugated base papers and corrugated packaging – has built a brand-new paper mill. Its scale alone sets it in a category of its own: Palm invested half a billion Euros into the project, and to supply the production process with the required amount of steam, the site relies of the two largest water boilers in the world.This new paper mill, though, is just one of many milestones. New Clubhouse Fits in Perfectly with Historic City Pool to Create a New CenterSpread across 3 acres in the Mission District of San Francisco is Garfield Square Park. A popular recreation hub for the community, the park includes a historically significant indoor swimming pool with its much loved culturally significant murals, clubhouse, basketball courts, and courtyard with BBQ facilities and splash pad. The pool and clubhouse had served the community for decades and were in need of updates to not only meet current code but also changing needs. The joint venture of PTA/TEF Design of San Francisco won the commission in 2016 and was tasked by the City of San Francisco with renovating the historic indoor pool and unifying it with a newly designed clubhouse and lobby.

A trailblazing pre-school – in more than one wayIn Sweden, as in all Nordic countries, education is front and centre when it comes to societal priorities, and – unlike in some other places, where actual action sometimes falls short of intention – the country is allocating resources to the system that fully match its ambitions. This is nowhere truer than in Umeå. Located far up on the Baltic coast, 650km north of Stockholm, the city is home to slightly over 120,000 inhabitants. No less than 39,000 of them are university students!Higher education, though, is only one part of the story. For Jonas Kjellander, “Pre-schools are the most important buildings, because they lay the groundwork for everything that follows. That’s why I have specialised in pre-school concepts”. Based on this rather unique know-how, the architect, who is part of Sweco, Sweden’s engineering behemoth – with over 17,000 employees in 13 countries – spearheaded the team that won the architecture competition for the ‘Hedlunda Förskola’ in Umeå.

At a groundbreaking research facility, a single worktop solution covers the whole spectrumAs the fourth oldest university in the UK, the university of Glasgow, founded in 1451, has a long tradition of fostering the talents of scientists and scholars across many disciplines. It has been home to seven nobel laureates as well as world-famous luminaries, including the physicist lord kelvin and adam smith, one of the founding fathers of modern economics. With the arc, its advanced research centre, the university is addressing the research challenges of the 21st century by opening unprecedented, cross-disciplinary perspectives to world-leading scientists. Andrew Tobin, professor of molecular pharmacology and the arc’s founding director, brings it to the point: “the arc, and the principles behind it, have been a long-term goal of the university. As the UK’s leading organisation for advanced materials research and innovation, the Henry Royce Institute plays a pivotal role in the country’s ambitions to develop groundbreaking materials and technologies, while fostering in parallel sustainable growth and development. Its purpose is to provide industry large and small as well as academia with the capability to develop, make, test and characterise innovative products, components and systems. To this effect, it provides easy access to state-of-the-art equipment worth more than £150m (175m euros) and to a highly trained support team. The Henry Royce Institute, known to many simply as ‘Royce’, operates from its brand new building at the University of Manchester and works in close coordination with eight additional, leading institutions across the UK – the Universities of Cambridge, Leeds, Liverpool, Oxford and Sheffield, the Imperial College London, the National Nuclear Laboratory and UKAEA (UK Atomic Energy Authority) – as well as Associate Partner, the University of Cranfield. The starting point: an awkwardly shaped lot High above the city centre, halfway between the mountains and the sea, there is a building that nobody can fail to notice: 'U Pavayun' proudly showcases the principality’s official colours – white and red – in a way uniquely its own. By combining vivid colours inspired by nature with a bold and modern architectural concept, the building maximises the visual impact of its ventilated façades. To add thermal efficiency to the cladding’s enduring beauty, external insulation has been integrated into the façade system.

Worcester has invested in a new £10m swimming pool as part of the city’s Perdiswell Leisure Centre refurbishment. RCM supplied the colourful Trespa® Meteon® cladding panels to the project, which were used on the outside of the pool area and entrance. RCM also supplied the colour-matched fixings and associated trims and the aluminium support frame system to this worthy project.

Forming part of a £400m Birmingham City Centre scheme the new 17 storey, 250 bedroom Holiday Inn Express forms part of the 2.3m square foot Arena Central mixed-use development.
