Rendered cladding for timber frame houses on these 8 new builds set in the grounds of a Manor House. Using the ProWall rendered rainscreen cladding system. Our ProWall rendered cladding gives a contemporary finish for these spacious familiy properties. We worked closely with this build in North Devon, giving site support at the battening, boarding, and rendering stages to ensure the ProWall system was applied to specification. SAS Europe also trained 15 members of the application team at a day course in our render training centre. Finished with ProRend Colourtex silicone thin coat render, available in various colours and textures.

Project: Steiner Academy, Frome Completed on Site: 2014 Timber Cladding: Welsh Larch This project saw untreated Welsh Larch used in 2 of our standard profiles. All the Horizontal Cladding installed on the project was our Double Chamfer/ Rhombus profile, NWCC1. The Vertical Cladding being supplied in the form of our T&G NWC2 board. Both of these profiles are machined from an Ex 25 x 150mm section size, to the grading criteria of Western Larch as specified by the Architect at Aedas/AHR. Over time this timber will weather to the silver/ grey that can be expected of from Larch.

Ventilated garage doors enable seamless integration of vertical timber cladding

Bespoke garage and car port doors from Rundum Meir, which provide natural ventilation and daylighting into enclosed garage spaces, can deliver a seamless aesthetic result in contemporary architecture featuring vertical timber board-on-batten cladding. This is illustrated at the Abode development in Cambridgeshire, where the architects delivered uniformity across different housing styles using a limited palette of materials. Horizontal and vertical cladding was extended into the doors for the car ports manufactured in matching oak. These ventilated doors enable fresh air and daylight to flow through the car ports from the rear gardens, adding an interesting visual dimension.

Golden Mede - EuroClass B Fire Treated Siberian Larch Timber Cladding

Siberian Larch was supplied for this project in four different half lap profiles, utilising standard widths of timber to retain the value from the timber, and reduce waste – whilst the different widths board create an interesting image over the vast areas of timber cladding. NORclad Grade B was supplied, offering a fair spread of knots, along with the distinctive grain of the species which can be seen across the images.

Timber Cladding: Untreated Siberian Larch was supplied for this project, this will weather down to a silver grey to blend in to its surroundings, and contrast the other materials on the building. NORclad Grade B was supplied, offering a fair spread of knots, along with the distinctive grain of the species. Profiles: Horizontal cladding was a bespoke chamfered profile (Ex 25 x 100mm) Vertical timbers on the building are in a number of dimensions, Ex 25 x 100, Ex 50 x 50mm, and Ex 50 x 75mm.

PEFC- certified Canadian Western Red Cedar was also supplied, this timber was used externally on the project, in a number of widths as seen within the images.

Clapton Villa | Green-roofed, timber clad extension to a Victorian villa - Clapton, London

Architect: Scenario Architecture. This beautiful Victorian villa received an innovative green-roofed extension full of natural light thanks to IDSystems installed bifold doors, gable end glazing, rooflights, window and door. The challenge for Scenario Architecture was to design an extension that was filled full of natural light, took into account the changing floor levels of the property. Under the pitched roof, the gable end glazing has been designed to perfectly match the profiles of the SUNFLEX SF75 bifold doors, whilst the inclusion of a single access door allows the extension to angle away to create a larger kitchen/dining area.

Brimstone cladding at Sylva Centre Grain Store

The Grain Store was transformed with Brimstone cladding and joinery. The renovation of an old grain store at the Sylva Centre provides a vast new workspace for woodworking businesses and skills training. The front elevation is clad in Brimstone, Vastern Timber’s innovative range of thermally modified British hardwoods, made of poplar, ash and sycamore. This is the first commercial project incorporating Brimstone joinery. Windows & doors made of Brimstone Ash were produced by George Barnsdale. Vastern Timber's aim to promote under- utilised British timber aligns perfectly with the Sylva Centre goal of ‘helping trees and people grow together’.

As an experienced project manager, Alex has considerable experience of timber frame projects. His design was for a 3000sq-ft house built to passivhaus standards. The design also featured extensive exterior cladding. Sustainability became an increasing focus as the project progressed. It was this focus that led to the use of Brimstone ash as Alex felt uncomfortable specifying alternatives that were sourced and transported vast distances. In total, 3000 linear metres of Brimstone were used . “I like the grain of Brimstone,” explains Alex Clifford. “The alternative I originally considered had straight grain, but I wanted something more patterned and interesting.”

Cedar cladding for Powers House

Powers House in Devon features cedar cladding, Brimstone ash decking along with stone walling and a pitched Zinc roof. Camillin Denny Design chose Canadian Red cedar from for the external cladding; specifically 95mm x 20mm boards with half lap detail. For the extensive decking around the building they chose Brimstone ash. As Mark Camillin explains “We’ve used cedar previously because we love the way it looks and the way it gradually fades. We wanted the building to be fully clad and we chose a narrower 95mm half-lap board to give us the texture of the shadow gap."

Factory Coated Cladding

Millworks worked with Devlin Architects to deliver a mix of factory finished painted, fire protected and natural weathered Thermowood (Redwood) cladding. Thermowood was chosen due to the stability and ability to take a consistent painted finish, giving a longer service life. Vacuum coating gives the timber a consistent finish on all four sides. Accoya cladding for the Burleigh brewery.co project

Accoya

Accoya was selected as the ideal material to clad this Burleigh Brewery project in Australia. Burleigh Brewing began on 1 July 2006 and immediately set about pioneering the craft beer movement on the Gold Coast. Distributed by Britton Timbers, Accoya was chosen because the project called for a low maintenance, sustainable external cladding with a high-end appearance. Accoya was also ideal due to its natural blonde aesthetic, which was carefully selected to ensure the Brewery logo was as prominent and distinctive as possible. Roughly 4 m3 of Accoya was used with an Integrain coating.

Cedar cladding, the ideal choice for luxury eco-home in Dorset

Fir view is a new-build luxury eco-house set in a wooded area on the Devon Dorset border. Architects Mark Camillin and Liam Denny had a vision for a contemporary design that blended sympathetically with the area of natural beauty within which the plot is set. Getting the exterior facade right was of great importance to them and the authorities and all parties settled on cedar cladding as the ideal option. Mark and Liam decided on vertical halflap cladding and selected our air dried Canadian cedar cladding because of the lack of knots and stability.

New Dawn Homes has chosen Swish PVC cladding for their exclusive, Robinswood Hill Farm development in Gloucestershire. Swish Anthracite Grey cellular PVC cladding was used to enhance the second-floor dormer cheeks and ground floor window bays to its collection of seven, 4 & 5 bedroom homes. Swish cellular PVC is the most efficient material for use at the roofline because it costs roughly the same as timber to install, requires no painting or maintenance and suits the exposed and inaccessible location at and above the eaves. Most importantly, when installed correctly it will last the lifetime of the dwelling.
