Hammersmith Gyratory, ASF Bespoke Stainless Steel Guardrail
Architectural Street Furnishings part of WB White Foundry
ASF were approached to manufacture bespoke stainless steel guardrails for Hammersmith Gyratory. For this project drawings were supplied by the client to work from, although these drawings were design intent rather than working drafts.ASF re-drew to a full working draft, 3D modelled and produced a set of GA drawings for approval.Once approved the guardrails were manufactured.Posts were manufactured form 101mm diameter, grade 316 stainless steel and topped with a machined cap with a shallow coned top and deep decorative recess. Rails were from 60mm diameter grade 316 tube. Posts and rails were polished to a high 2k finish and the capes were left machine finished.The finished product is a very stylish and heavy duty, low maintenance guardrail.

Gateway 12 is multi-million pound industrial development on a c.16-acre site located three miles to the South West of Gloucester, adjacent to the A38 dual carriageway and just one mile form Junction 12 of the M5.For the main structure of the buildings Trisobuild® R32 was used for the roof and Trisobuild® C32 was installed vertically on the walls; Trisobuild® HR50 was used horizontally at the higher level for the soffits in Merlin Grey. The offices area wall elevations were constructed using Trimapanel® insulated panel system.
RUGBY MILL AND RAM MILL, MANCHESTER

Rugby Mill is a 60,181 sq ft new build warehouse. The external building envelope for this facility includes a two-storey office and dock levellers at the rear. Built using 9,000m2 of and insulated panels manufactured using and the front elevation features decorative cornice detail to the top right and top left hand corners of the building, in an agreed contrasting combination of blue colours (Solent Blue, Atlantis, Aquarius, Zeus and Sirius and Goosewing Grey).Adjacent to Rugby Mill, Ram Mill can accommodate up to 100,000 sq ft of occupiable space and has been pre-let. Built to the same design and using our and insulated panels, the front façade for this unit features our insulated panels in a different colour combination and features a decorative cornice detail that wraps around the top corners of the front elevation either side, in a green combination to reflect Pin Property’s distinctive brand (Heritage, Jade, Juniper, Sirius, Zeus and Goosewing Grey).

This has included the installation of stainless steel grating, supplied by Lang+Fulton, as flooring within the window display. Apart from its stylish contemporary appearance, the grating serves as a light-well, introducing natural daylight to the shopping area in the basement.

Clement steel windows were chosen for the refurbishment of this double-fronted office building set within a busy part of the City of London near Smithfield Market. Surrounded by narrow cobbled streets it is situated on the boundary of the Smithfield Conservation Area.Blenheim House Construction (BHC) selected windows from the Clement EB24 range because they best suited the original look of the building and allowed for the maximum amount of light to flow throughout the property. Natural light was an important aim of this high specification refurbishment - central to the building is a mezzanine which creates a dramatic light-filled double height space.The windows are polyester powder coated in matt RAL 9005 (Jet Black) to match the frames as a finishing touch.Matthew Brown, Project Manager at BHC, commented:“We found Clement’s management team to be attentive, promptly addressing queries when raised and offering solutions and advice when called upon. The India Buildings is located on Water Street in the centre of Liverpool’s financial and business district. It was designed by architects Arnold Thornely and Herbert J Rowse, following a competition to design an office block which was judged by the great Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and built between 1924 and 1932 for the Blue Funnel shipping line owned by Alfred Holt.The building’s design is influenced by the Italian Renaissance style and it has several features of the American Beaux-Arts style, including for example the sculptures of cherubs above the windows.Having sustained damage during World War II the building was restored to its original state after the war under the supervision of Rowse, the original architect.In 2017, the Grade II* Listed Building was purchased by Legal & General and it was announced that HMRC would base a regional centre there. Renovation works commenced with the focus on creating modern, comfortable office space while retaining the heritage features of the building.Clement Windows Group was selected to manufacture and install the new double glazed steel windows which match the original single glazed metal windows and improve thermal performance and energy use within the historic building. Almost 1,000 windows from the Clement MW40 range were specified, polyester powder painted in RAL 9016 (White).Alex Harrison of architects Falconer Chester Hall said: “We had the pleasure of working with Clement on the steel window replacements of the India Building refurbishment project. Their performance in every aspect of the work was outstanding, and we wholeheartedly endorse them for any future contracts of a similar nature. North Kent Police HQ: Italia-100. Steel louvred fencing and generator compound.

North Kent Police HQ is a four-storey landmark building of 11,500 m2. In addition to the perimeter fencing, Lang+Fulton supplied the steel louvred cladding panels and support steelwork for the generator housing. The panels were made from Italia-100 which is an extremely robust louvred material, providing 100% visual screening and a high level of security. Italia-100 was considered to perfectly complement the overall architectural design as well as providing the required functionality at a sensitive site.

The Brewhouse, formerly known as Farsons Brewery was one of the first and finest examples of concrete-reinforced Art Deco buildings on the island of Malta. The building was founded and designed by Lewis V Farrugia and William Binnie and originally opened 73 years ago in June 1950.Now a Grade II listed building The Brewhouse has been part of a €86 million redevelopment project, reimagined by world-renowned London based ritchie*studio. Covering over 7,000 sq m of industrial space, the building now includes a unique mix of office, food and beverage, retail, visitor experience, and events space over seven floors.In a building of such historical and architectural significance the new windows not only had to look as close to the originals as possible, but also meet stringent requirements for thermal efficiency, as the building was designed to meet the strictest of environmental codes. A 19th century Listed Building, St Paul’s Church, has a prominent position at the top of St John’s Hill in Battersea. Current owners, The James Laurence Group, worked alongside the London Borough of Wandsworth Planning Department to agree how best this historical building should be restored and provided with a new lease of life. Clement were chosen to supply all the steel windows and conservation rooflights.
The bespoke demands of the project required Clement to use two steel window ranges. Both W20 and EB24 were fitted to create the beautiful shaped windows which include club heads.
Industrial Strength Stainless Steel Sinks For State Of The Art Fire Station

Made-to-measure brushed satin stainless steel sinks and worktops, from GEC Anderson, have been installed in the breathing apparatus rooms, kit cleaning rooms and kitchens of the new Winchester Fire Station.The station relocated from its home of 74 years at North Walls to its new state-of-art facility inEaston Lane, Winnall,Winchester. The new five-bay fire station is operationally and strategically located on the outskirts of the city on a major access route, close to the M3. The new facility can accommodate 70-plus personnel and provides a continuously crewed facility as opposed to the previous just day-crewed arrangement, thus providing faster emergency cover over a greater area.Freestanding worktops, totalling more than 10 metres, were installed in the breathing apparatus (BA) room and kit cleaning area of the fire station. Industrial sized sinks were included to provide an effective washing facility for the fire crews specialist equipment. Sarah Collins, architect for Hampshire County Councils Property Services Department said, The specialised sinks were chosen for their ability to cope with an environment of high usage. We wanted a material that was robust enough to take the everyday knocks and last for the lifetime of the building. GEC Anderson sinks certainly met this requirement and are performing extremely well.

Waitrose’s Distribution Centre at Bracknell delivers to more than 60 stores, handling up to 150,000 cases of chilled products. The new warehouse was conceived to a ‘green’ design; generating 20% of renewable energy on site with waste heat and office cooling recycled from the refrigeration process, efficient lighting and low carbon emissions. In keeping with the concept of sourcing natural materials, a Roma-3 mild steel grating fence in a galvanized finish was specified for the boundary demarcation.

The owners of this four storey, semi-detached, Victorian home have totally transformed it to create a wonderful, contemporary space, full of character, colour and texture.The works undertaken included the demolition of the existing lower ground conservatory and the construction of a full width rear extension. The new space provides a large kitchen, dining and sitting area, but also retains the connection to the front snug. A two storey extension was formed along the side return, providing a boot room and utility space on the lower ground level and a cloakroom and WC on the upper ground level. A bespoke, black steel door screen from the Clement EB24 range was designed to form a glazed elevation facing onto the raised garden from the kitchen. The feature doors, along with other elements, such as the wide oak timber flooring, Bauwerk painted walls and a specialist kitchen provided by Daulby and Tickle, have created an incredible result.The Architect, Daniel Harris said “We’ve worked with Clement Windows on several residential projects, this one being the most complex. The process from initial sketch design through to installation was excellent. Clement produced highly detailed drawings and were very responsive throughout the development of the design. The installation team worked in close collaboration with the Contractor and ensured all elements of the openings were prepared and ready for installation. Portavadie Marina Resort: Steel louvred fencing and compounds to screen service plant and wheelie bins

Lang+Fulton were asked to supply louvred screening to provide shelter and a visual barrier for the café and outdoor pool areas at the Portavadie Marina Resort. A 2.5m high screen of Italia-100 panels was installed to provide 100% visual screening. The louvres have a free area of 29%, which helps to reduce wind loading, but, in order to cope with potential storm force conditions, the RHS posts were specially designed in accordance with BS EN 1991-1-4. A store area for bins and a secure compound for service plant fored an additional part of the contract. The steel louvres were polyester powder coated in a muted grey (RAL 7015) to a marine grade standard of finish to blend with the surroundings and withstand the harsh coastal climate.

ASF were asked to manufacture tree grilles in the design of the ASF 3000 in stainless steel, but with structural design and calculation attached that met an 8 ton point loading, so that the grilles would be suitable for drive over by 15t+ street cleaners. ASF worked with site and our own structural engineers to produce grilles that met and exceeded the required standards.The top 'face' of the grille bars were also castellated to increase grip on the surface of the grilles.The grilles also hosted large uplighters that also allowed for an 8t point loadingThe grilles were manufactured in grade 316 stainless steel to these standards and finished passivate dipped, offering a stable finished patina that will last for many yearsThe grilles were manufactured to these standards
Clement replace steel windows at landmark Grade II listed Old Marylebone Town Hall

Clement Windows Group have replaced the original steel fenestration at the Old Marylebone Town Hall, recently leased by the London Business School from Westminster Council on a 35 year renewable contract.
In order to increase teaching facilities by 70 percent, the building has undergone a major £60m refurbishment and Wates Construction were chosen as the Main Contractors to undertake the challenge of joining the two iconic buildings in an eclectic mix of the traditional and contemporary. The new building, designed by architects Sheppard Robson, is named the Sammy Ofer Centre in honour of the late Sammy Ofer KBE.

The frontage of the Ocean Terminal shopping centre in Edinburgh has received a radical makeover as part of a major investment to increase footfall by enhancing the visitor experience. The extension has been covered with STEREO-KINETIC cladding; hundreds of freely-moving stainless steel sheets suspended from grating panels. Gusts of wind, traffic, even people walking by cause the metal rectangles to ripple in an ever-changing display. The kinetic artwork has been designed in such a way as to allow the passage of natural daylight through the underlying window openings on the second floor level.

W20 range for the Comet Works in Birmingham’s Princip Street.
The original warehouse buildings in the city’s former Gun Quarter have been converted by building re-animator Javelin Block into 20 impressive residential units, including lofts, apartments and mews houses. The Clement W20 range was specified for its ability to provide an almost exact match to the existing metal windows while offering modern advantages such as double glazing and a very long-lasting polyester powder paint coating requiring minimal maintenance.

After many years of being out of use, the former police HQ (CID) building on Bridewell Island in Central Bristol has been renovated and is now the new YMCA Bristol hostel.
John Perkins Construction carried out the work along with Ferguson Mann Architects and assistance from the Bristol City Council Conservation Team.
Preserving the beauty of this Grade II Listed Building, which dates back to 1928, was paramount although it was vital that the completed building offered a modern specification for 21st century living.

ASF Steel Quayside Post with Rail & Tension Cables, Stockport

This was not actually a quayside application, instead the quayside profile was chosen as the curved profile doesn't create a 'natural ladder' and better discourages people climbing over from a pedestrian area into traffic.The curved profile was set up to have 2 solid rails and 4 tension cables which were used to bridge the gaps between the main rails equidistantly.Laser profiled steel posts with knuckles for rails and flanges to host the cables were manufactured as bespoke solutions. The outcome is a successful balance between a utilitarian piece of street furniture and a product with a decent amount of design and architectural integrity.
Resin Bound Gravel Driveway Transformation | Riviera & Steel Blue PermaBound Surface

In this case study, we delve into a PermaBound driveway installed by GR Groundworks who were tasked with replacing their customer's worn-out driveway with a beautiful resin bound gravel surface. Continue reading to discover the entire process of creating a magnificent driveway.After carefully browsing the bespoke PermaBound sample case and inspecting each blend, the customer confidently chose Rivieria as the primary blend and Steel Blue for the border and pathways alongside their house. These beautiful selections were made carefully to ensure they complemented each other whilst enhancing the property's overall aesthetic.The GR Groundworks team started the project by excavating and removing the existing, visibly deteriorating driveway.Once the old surface was cleared, a strong hardcore foundation was established. Block paving edges were then laid to form a step at the front door. On to the hardcore, a concrete sub-base was then laid, offering a solid surface for installing their PermaBound surface. To accommodate the installation of two resin bound gravel blends side-by-side, a durable aluminium edging trim was fixed to the concrete surface, creating a crisp yet discreet separation between the two colours.With the thorough groundwork completed to a high standard, the installation of the PermaBound surface could commence.The team prepared the PermaBound installation perfectly, stacking up each separate mix: four bags of specialist stone, a high-quality PermaBound resin binder and a bag of sand.One member of the GR team managed the mixing process using their SoRoTo forced action mixer. For each mix, they added BoundFast Catalyst to the resin binder to accelerate resin curing times in colder weather. They combined the gravel, catalysed resin binder and KLCP sand in the SoRoTo mixer, ensuring each batch was mixed for precisely the same duration.The mixed PermaBound material was then carefully transferred to a wheelbarrow by another team member, transported to the designated installation area and roughly spread out.The third team member then took the lead, hand-troweling using The Resin Bull's 500LT double-handled trowel to craft a well-compacted and level PermaBound driveway. New Clement steel windows for Alfred Hitchcock's Grade II listed house

Situated in Shamley Green, Surrey, Winters Grace is a beautiful Grade II listed property in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Winters Grace was the home of celebrity film director Alfred Hitchcock at the height of his Hollywood fame. The name of the house came from his two favourite actresses, Shelley Winters and Grace Kelly.Alfred Hitchcock and his wife purchased the property in 1928 for £2,500. The building was originally a Tudor farmhouse, dating from the 16th century. Over the years the house has been renovated on various occasions, but after planning requests were approved in 2012 the current owners carried out major works to update this very special property.Clement were chosen by Godalming firm O&D Construction to manufacture and install the windows. Trevor O’Brien from O&D commented: “Every steel window in Winters Grace was bespoke and many required different window furniture selected by the client. There was also a combination of clear and leaded light glazing. All of this amounted to quite a complex order for Clement. We found them easy to deal with and they delivered high quality products to the agreed programme. Replacement steel windows, doors and interior screens for picture perfect Arts and Crafts family home

It was a pleasure for all involved to work on this outstanding project, an original Arts and Crafts home which has been impeccably refurbished.The recent works included extending the house, as well as opening up and changing the layout. The interior has been modernised with a contemporary touch, but cleverly retains and enhances the home’s character. The interior design of the whole home is stunning. The bedrooms and bathrooms have been individually designed and are unique to their user. Mural wallpapers, vibrant pops of colour and striking, high quality fixtures and fittings help achieve this.A combination of leaded EB20 steel windows and W40 steel doors with genuine T bars were chosen to replace the external fenestration. The new windows and doors have slim, elegant frames but bring the benefit of improved thermal efficiency and security. Internally, a bespoke W20 door screen has been used to divide the kitchen and dining area.Both the client and architect are delighted with the outcome. Steven Harp from Harp and Harp said: “This project involved a delicate balance of modernising a home that had been barely touched in a century for 21st Century family life whilst trying to retain the beautiful Arts and Crafts character and charm of the original house. The new doors and windows by Clement were a perfect product to fulfil this brief, providing modern standards or thermal comfort with an aesthetic and quality that blended seamlessly with the elegance of the original metal windows that were still on the house.”The client said: “I was initially unsure about changing the fenestration and doors in our property, as they are such an important part of the building’s character, history and aesthetics. However, from our first meeting with Clement Windows, who were recommended by our building surveyor, I knew I needn’t have worried. They talked us through the different options in detail, provided extensive designs (and were always prepared to amend and refine these subject to our thoughts!) and also worked seamlessly with our architects to ensure that all we asked for was delivered and more. The finished product far exceeds any expectations that we had for windows and doors that matched our original steel windows and doors, now giving us the perfect look for the house with the added bonus of double glazing and additional safety and security. Their communication throughout has been excellent and we have felt looked after every step of the way. Installation was done ahead of schedule and the only issue we’ve had post installation has been dealt with efficiently and they have always had someone available to pick up the phone to us and come to site when needed. Really cannot recommend this wonderful company enough, for both their products and the overall experience. Thank you!”
Over two hundred new steel windows manufactured for Grade II listed Town Hall

The early 20th century saw the development of a distinct architectural movement often termed ‘Stripped Classicism’. Running in tandem with the Modernist Movement of the Bauhaus School, the movement strove for bold massings, severe angles and a stylised reduction of classical elements. This style was frequently chosen by governments when designing official buildings.Perhaps the best known example of this type of architecture in the UK is the Grade II Listed Waltham Forest Town Hall, the headquarters of the London Borough of Waltham Forest Town Council. Designed by architect Philip Hepworth, construction of the building began in 1938 but was interrupted by the Second World War and so not completed until 1942. In 2019 the council approved an extensive programme of renovation works to the Town Hall which included the replacement of all the original steel windows. Clement W20 steel windows were chosen as the right product for their quality. The new white windows include both top hung and side hung opening casements with complementary fittings in a dark bronze finish.Senior Project Manager at Waltham Forest Town Hall John Cattermole said:“The team at Clement provided a great service in supplying new windows as part of the Town Hall refurbishment. Very specific aesthetic and energy performance criteria needed to be met when it came to the window replacement. The W20 windows supplied by Clement were able to meet all of these requirements. Despite the project being on site at the height of the pandemic, the windows were delivered to programme which enabled seamless installation. Now the building has been brought back into use really positive feedback has been received from both staff and visitors.”

A great example of 1930s Art Deco architecture, The Douglas Building sits on Great Titchfield Street in London’s West End. Formerly known as The Media Village, Douglas House was acquired by serviced office providers The Office Group (TOG) from landlords The Langham Estate in 2019. TOG together with Note Design Studio transformed the building with a colourful concept that blends the distinctive 1930s features and gives a sense of fluidity, openness and light throughout.As its former name suggests this area of London is a hub for local media and IT businesses operating out of the West End and the brief for the building was to create a flexible workspace where people can feel stimulated by their environment leading to greater productivity. Wellness was also a central focus and the building includes an oxygen room, a parents’ room and a roof terrace which are all integral to enabling and inspiring everyone who enters.Well ventilated and an abundance of natural light have become buzzwords in the COVID era and the more than 300 new steel windows from the Clement EB24 range which were chosen by office fit out and refurbishment contractors Parkeray perfectly facilitate both. Polyester powder coated in Pure White and furnished with Warren handles in a satin chrome finish the windows lend the building a contemporary look on the outside as well as supporting the 21st century ways of working inside.Peter Clement, Chief Executive of Clement Windows Group, commented:“As with all prestigious window replacement projects of this magnitude Clement took part in a competitive tender process. The stunning building is formed of ten different sized trapezoidal blocks constructed using pigmented, self-compacting concrete and recently listed in The Times ‘Top 50 Galleries in the World’.
The continuous stainless steel worktop installed behind the main serving counter of the Café Bar incorporates sinks, plinth, cupboards doors and splashbacks, all in brushed satin stainless steel.
ASF Art Deco Stainless Steel Railings, Bradford Town Hall

ASF were approached by Bradford Council with drawings of a complicated art deco railing design. ASF worked to these drawings to produce a fully fabricated, fully welded set of railings for the area around Bradford Town Hall. The railings are manufactured in large section, heavy duty marine grade 316 stainless steel that was then painstakingly hand polished to give a satin brushed final look. The railings are sited around garden areas, along walkways and a shorter version was manufactured to run along a wall top. The end product is a very robust, visually stunning railing that requires little maintenance.
Riser Doors and Access Controlled Doors for Multi-level Data Centre

We were approached to design & manufacture a range of steel fire-resistant riser doors and personnel doors for Europe's most advanced data centre, located in Canary Wharf, London.This 8-storey building offers 73,400 sqm of space - they needed simple yet secure riser doors to provide fire protection to the internal ducts, containing all the cabling and plumbing required in a sleek, discreet solution that provided maximum access, performance and safety.Alongside the riser doors, Eurobond designed & manufactured personnel doors that could be electronically controlled to control the access and provide an audit trail of personnel movement.The 2 key elements of this project were the riser doors - and the sheer volume required to cover the 8 levels and the access control requirements that had to be well planned and coordinated by Eurobond, the security contractor, end-user and architect.
Former Church gets new lease of life with new steel windows and doors, after being renovated into four superb homes

A chapel was first built at Swan Hill in the town of Shrewsbury in 1767. In 1868, this was demolished and replaced with the current building; schoolrooms were then added in 1880. Charters Property Ltd who specialise in property development, consultancy and project management, recently purchased the deconsecrated church and have transformed the building into a prestigious development of four fabulous homes.Sensitivity was key when renovating the property and the majority of the original features have been preserved. Original stone walls, lintels and cills have been repaired and impeccably replaced. The walls and roofs have been insulated and energy saving measures implemented to create a comfortable, efficient living environment.Although it was possible to restore some of the original fenestration, double glazed replacement steel windows were still required throughout the building. Clement were thrilled to manufacture these new steel windows and doors. Various Clement ranges were used to meet the different criteria required for the project. For example, the Brooking range was used for the beautiful arched head windows on the front elevation as it would best replicate the originals which would have been silicone fronted. EB16 was used for other windows where silicone fronting was not required and W20 was used to make the steel doors. In total over thirty individual windows were specified, all in various shapes and sizes.Clement Conservation Rooflights were also specified, which bring masses of light in through the beautiful, high ceilings.James Charters, Director of Charters Property said “We were very pleased with the attention to detail and finish of the steel windows, Clement took ownership of their section of the project and were able to deliver a complex scheme on time and to a very good standard. In the heart of Bristol’s City Centre lies The Pithay, now known as Programme. This immense building, originally built in the 1960s was tired and required refurbishment. After being acquired by Resolution Property in 2016 a plan was developed by Buckley Gray Yeoman, based on Resolution’s ambitious brief to revitalise the building.
Clement Windows Group was chosen as the preferred company to manufacture and install the 510 new steel windows required. Clement were thrilled to win the job, particularly as the current Chief Executive Peter Clement’s father had installed the original windows back in 1966!
Open mesh steel balustrades, walkways, stairs at Bradfield College Greek Theatre: DemiAlto-55×110/50×5

Open mesh steel balustrades, walkways, stairs and an agora now provide a safe and spectacular descent into the arena as part of an ambitious restoration project of the 1890 amphitheatre at Bradfield College.
The theatre performs triennial Greek plays and celebrated its re-opening with a gala performance of Antigone in May 2014.
The balustrade panels were made from DemiAlto grating with bespoke aperture of 55x110mm. The panels were installed without posts and were fixed through plates, mounted below the finished floor level. The grating was made with a suitable section of bearing bar to take the potential crowd loading.
Jaguar Land Rover, Body in White Building, Castle Bromwich

The Body in White Facility is an extension (60,000sqm) at the Castle Bromwich site of Jaguar Land Rover. This new facility utilises an interesting blend of Trisomet and Trimapanel roof and wall cladding and also benefits from the Colorcoat Renew transpired solar collector system.
Steel and Mesh Partitioning at TJ Morris Automated Warehouse in Amesbury

Earlier this year Troax UK Ltd. were approached by Swisslog and their client TJ Morris, who trade throughout the UK as Home Bargains to assist them in the implementation of a large scale automated Warehousing System in a new distribution centre at Amesbury.
The materials handling equipment installation, Swisslog’s largest in the UK this year, included pallet and light goods systems (incorporating racking, cranes and conveyors), EMS monorail system, and Swisslog’s innovative CaddyPick semi-automatic case order-picking system, the first of its type in the UK.
