Deeside Leisure Centre - Transpired Solar Collector Cladding

Deeside Leisure Centre is the National Centre for Ice Sports in Wales, and during a major building envelope refurbishment utilised TATA Steel Transpired Solar Collectors as part of its renewable energy transformation to improve buildign performance and reduce operational costs in order to reduce the centre's carbon footprint.The south-facing elevation of the leisure centre was over-clad with a Trisobuild® C32 profile as part of the Colorcoat Renew SC® solar air heating system. Using 216m2 of Colorcoat Prisma® in Slate Grey, the micro-perforated Trisobuild® C32 fascia was installed easily over the existing insulated wall cladding. Trisobuild® R32 profile manufactured from Colorcoat Prisma® in Oyster was additionally installed over the leisure centre’s existing roof cladding.In its first full year of operation at Deeside Leisure Centre, Colorcoat Renew® delivered 47 MWh of heat. This equates to 218kWh per square metre of the installed solar collector area. By gaining fuller experience of system control and operation, Deeside Leisure Centre personnel in conjunction with Tata Steel were able to extend the Colorcoat Renew SC® system operating hours to optimise use of the available solar radiation.In its second full year of operation the system delivered approximately 53 MWh of renewable heat energy at an average yield of 244kWh per square metre per year. This means that over a two-year period the Colorcoat Renew SC® system delivered an average of 50MWh of energy per year at conversion efficiencies (solar energy to useable heat energy) averaging in excess of 70%.
Charming cottage style house re-vamped with EB24 steel windows

EB24 cottage pane style steel windows featuring the G+ system with a Fenestra joint were chosen by the client to replicate and replace the original windows in this beautiful 1930s private residence.
The open-sided loggia leads out to the garden - Clement were able to manufacture this screen in the EB24 window system to match all other fenestration.
The new EB24 windows to the feature stairwell window allow lots of light into the centre of the house. The original timber surrounds were in good condition throughout the property and so were retained by Clement to house the new steel windows.
Bonhams Auction House bids…and buys steel windows from Clement!

Bonhams is a fabulously idiosyncratic 1930s building, situated on prestigious New Bond Street, in West London.
The building is Art Deco in style, listed and within a Conservation Area. Architects Lifschutz Davidson & Sandilands led a £30million restoration project and sensitivity was key. The work included replacing the original steel windows on the front elevation facing Woodstock Street and Blenheim Street.
Clement W20 steel windows were chosen to match the design of the existing windows. The new windows were fitted with toughened, laminated glass and silicone fronted using dark bronze silicone (to replicate the early putty fronting).

This project involved the demolition of an existing two storey extension to the original house which was built around 1840 in the Barnsbury Conservation Area in Islington in North London. The interior layout was unsuitable and the owners wanted to bring more natural light and views of the garden into the space. Clement provided the stunning EB24 steel windows and doors which provide a sharp contrast to the oak boarding and make the extension look as if it is floating, enabling excellent views across the garden and surrounding area.

Naturally this was an incredibly sensitive project for Clement. This Listed Building is of great architectural significance and the fact that we would be replacing metal windows, some of which were over 170 years old, meant a great deal of planning and thought went into deciding the correct specification.
Clement’s EB20 range of steel windows was specified by the architect to best replicate the original windows, while still improving the thermal efficiency which was so important for the building’s residents, the religious order of Saint Bernard.

Balancing Barn featuring Reynaers CP 155-LS Lift & Slide aluminium window system

The non-profit organization Living Architecture has realised four special holiday homes across England, each one is an extraordinary example of contemporary architecture, designed by leading architects. The most spectacular of the projects is the ‘Balancing Barn’ in Suffolk (Uk), designed by the Dutch bureau MVRDV. In the 30-metre long house, which juts out 15 metres over the edge of a rise, Reynaers CP 155-LS (Lift & Slide) was used for the large sliding windows. The large protruding section meant that it was possible to place another large window in the floor as a complement to the architectonic spectacle.

This North London family home has undergone a total transformation by our client Sara-Int Renovations Ltd. Two existing extensions have been demolished, the front entrance has been repositioned and the lower ground floor entirely rebuilt. The terrace off the living room was also reconstructed and now benefits from a spiral staircase which connects to the garden.
The newly designed house showcases various styles of bespoke Clement steel window door screens and partitions, all with genuine T bars.

Replacement steel windows, doors and interior screens for picture perfect Arts and Crafts family home

It was a pleasure for all involved to work on this outstanding project, an original Arts and Crafts home which has been impeccably refurbished.The recent works included extending the house, as well as opening up and changing the layout. The interior has been modernised with a contemporary touch, but cleverly retains and enhances the home’s character. The interior design of the whole home is stunning. The bedrooms and bathrooms have been individually designed and are unique to their user. Mural wallpapers, vibrant pops of colour and striking, high quality fixtures and fittings help achieve this.A combination of leaded EB20 steel windows and W40 steel doors with genuine T bars were chosen to replace the external fenestration. The new windows and doors have slim, elegant frames but bring the benefit of improved thermal efficiency and security. Internally, a bespoke W20 door screen has been used to divide the kitchen and dining area.Both the client and architect are delighted with the outcome. Steven Harp from Harp and Harp said: “This project involved a delicate balance of modernising a home that had been barely touched in a century for 21st Century family life whilst trying to retain the beautiful Arts and Crafts character and charm of the original house. Deny’s Holland House, located in London’s Camden Road was the subject of a recent and total refurbishment by specialist contractor, ITC Concepts.Within the specification were stainless steel worktops to a total of 13 kitchens. Each kitchen is designated for shared use by student occupants of the various apartments. As such, the need for a durable, safe and hygienic facilities lead to the specification of seamless worktops with integrated sinks and anti-drip edge profiles. GEC Anderson were able to produce the prescribed configurations and detailing that were called for. Part of the Melia Hotels & Resorts Group since 1999, Melia White House is situated in a striking Grade II listed Art Deco building close to London’s Regent’s Park. Following discussions with Camden Planning, the Clement EB24 range of new steel windows with welded G+ multi pane system was installed. In total nearly 800 windows were installed in two phases requiring the Clement team to work to an exacting schedule.
Fine steel windows retain the unique original character of this stunning property

This fine house was built in the 1920s, one of its features was the unusual ‘chequerboard’ black and white design of the original windows. The clients wished to replicate this, which required selected opening windows to be powder coated in black so as to contrast against the white outer frames. A magnificent 24-pane bay window is a prime feature of the house and shows off this unique design.
The clients chose windows from Clement’s EB24 range with rectangular leaded lights. To provide added security, all the windows and doors were fitted with Clement’s multi point locking system.

Just 100 metres away from the Royal Courts of Justice in London stands 188 Fleet Street, which until recently was the home of bankers Coutts & Co. The 35,000 sq ft building, purchased for £11 million, has been recently refurbished by HD Architects to house a publishing company.
The renovated office benefits from a number of striking internal steel screens which feature throughout the office and contribute to the amount of natural daylight that filters through the space.

The unusual organic way in which the architect has stacked the two modern buildings with near-transparent residential layers resembles the structure of an animal skeleton. Resin Bound Gravel Driveway Transformation | Riviera & Steel Blue PermaBound Surface

In this case study, we delve into a PermaBound driveway installed by GR Groundworks who were tasked with replacing their customer's worn-out driveway with a beautiful resin bound gravel surface. Continue reading to discover the entire process of creating a magnificent driveway.After carefully browsing the bespoke PermaBound sample case and inspecting each blend, the customer confidently chose Rivieria as the primary blend and Steel Blue for the border and pathways alongside their house. These beautiful selections were made carefully to ensure they complemented each other whilst enhancing the property's overall aesthetic.The GR Groundworks team started the project by excavating and removing the existing, visibly deteriorating driveway.Once the old surface was cleared, a strong hardcore foundation was established. Block paving edges were then laid to form a step at the front door. On to the hardcore, a concrete sub-base was then laid, offering a solid surface for installing their PermaBound surface. To accommodate the installation of two resin bound gravel blends side-by-side, a durable aluminium edging trim was fixed to the concrete surface, creating a crisp yet discreet separation between the two colours.With the thorough groundwork completed to a high standard, the installation of the PermaBound surface could commence.The team prepared the PermaBound installation perfectly, stacking up each separate mix: four bags of specialist stone, a high-quality PermaBound resin binder and a bag of sand.One member of the GR team managed the mixing process using their SoRoTo forced action mixer. For each mix, they added BoundFast Catalyst to the resin binder to accelerate resin curing times in colder weather. They combined the gravel, catalysed resin binder and KLCP sand in the SoRoTo mixer, ensuring each batch was mixed for precisely the same duration.The mixed PermaBound material was then carefully transferred to a wheelbarrow by another team member, transported to the designated installation area and roughly spread out.The third team member then took the lead, hand-troweling using The Resin Bull's 500LT double-handled trowel to craft a well-compacted and level PermaBound driveway. A GEC Anderson stainless steel counter and splashbacks were recently deployed in the new meeting room and ancillary facilities at St Mary’s Church, Wivenhoe. The historic Parish Church of Wivenhoe is thought to be built on Roman foundations and is the oldest remaining building in this small riverside town in Essex. Against this historic background, the new space, designed by Inkpen Downie Architecture, provides a light and airy addition that includes a small kitchen and servery. Stainless steel was specified for the curved counter and for the splashbacks within the kitchen itself. The specified units were supplied and installed by GEC Anderson, under the supervision of local contractor, Bakers of Danbury.“This was a nice project to have been fortunate enough to be involved with and, in my opinion, is a great example of how well new can sit with old. Price, sandbox, climbing frame — the city's playgrounds are being beautified

This year, the playgrounds in Kazincbarcika are being beautified again. The refurbishment across the city's 22 playgrounds began this spring with the replacement of rubber coatings and the refurbishment of sandboxes, followed by the necessary repairs to equipment and structural elements. The work is expected to be completed by autumn.With the arrival of spring weather, many are eager to spend time outdoors, and families with young children enjoy spending time on playgrounds. Among the city residents we surveyed, many consider the area around the Boating Lake a prime destination due to its proximity to nature and the presence of a playground nearby.It is important that children can play in the safest, well-maintained environment possible. Barcika Park Nonprofit Ltd. is responsible for the operation of 22 playgrounds, which include 220 play equipment. The company's staff continuously repair any detected faults and deficiencies, and they annually review the condition of the playground equipment. Stowford Mill, built in 1787, is one of Devon’s oldest historic industrial sites to still be expanding.Because of its iconic features and characteristic atmosphere, Stowford Mill has long been established as one of the trendiest places to work, eat and shop, bringing commerce and prosperity to the surrounding area, and forcing the town to expand to make room for tourists who just never wanted to leave.Part of this expansion will eventually include Burrington Estates’ eight-acre vibrant community of contemporary new homes. This new development, for which the main contractor is URBN, is due for completion in 2023.Started in March 2018, the existing homes already include Alumasc Rainwater Infinity Steel gutters and downpipes, specified to provide eco-friendly, discreet and resilient water management that will last. Crucially, this system was favoured to the use of plastic systems, to meet the demand for a readily available product that was both environmentally- and price-conscious.As the new development creates a unique new environment in which to live, work and relax in the midst of the historic area, the most important part of the project was to keep the best of the stunning architectural heritage already there, whilst finding innovative ways to incorporate the latest modern building design. Helping to bridge this gap between the historic and the modern, AWMS offered a solution.“Alumasc systems were chosen as it was the project’s requirements to specifically use steel for gutters and downpipes,” David Loader, Key Account Manager at Alumasc, explained.

Twickenham Studios was established in 1913 and is one of the UK’s oldest and most celebrated film and TV studios. The Lounge is the Studio's new rooftop bar. This fabulous facility is accessed through brand new Clement steel screens. Made from strong EB24 steel sections, they are robust, but also incredibly slim and elegant. The bespoke doors have genuine T bars and a high glass specification, including Guardian Sun Guard offering solar protection and an argon gas filled cavity which improves thermal efficiency.

MINSTHORPE LEISURE CENTRE

Wakefield has had a sporting boost with the construction of its new Minsthorpe Leisure Centre which was opened February 2018, after the 14-month project was completed on schedule. Facilities at the centre include a 25m, six-lane swimming pool, a 60-station health and fitness club and a group exercise studio.The project cladding design underwent a value engineering programme and the originally specified product was changed to include our Trimapanel® smooth faced insulated panels for the external building envelope.

ANTWERP PORT HOUSE

Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, the new landmark Antwerp Port House comprises of a new highly architectural four-storey extension positioned above a restored former fire station. Providing 12,800m2 of office space, the project has given the Port Authority a single headquarters building for the first time.ComFlor® was the preferred flooring option out of five put forward, based on its light weight and cost. The system also provides the required strength, could achieve the required load and span requirements and offered a fast build time.5,000m2 of ComFlor® 80 in 0.90mm gauge, as well as a quantity of ComFlor® 60 in a 1.20mm gauge for the sloped stairs, was used to deliver the flooring solution, all supplied by Dutch Engineering.
