A GEC Anderson stainless steel counter and splashbacks were recently deployed in the new meeting room and ancillary facilities at St Mary’s Church, Wivenhoe. The historic Parish Church of Wivenhoe is thought to be built on Roman foundations and is the oldest remaining building in this small riverside town in Essex. Against this historic background, the new space, designed by Inkpen Downie Architecture, provides a light and airy addition that includes a small kitchen and servery. Stainless steel was specified for the curved counter and for the splashbacks within the kitchen itself. The specified units were supplied and installed by GEC Anderson, under the supervision of local contractor, Bakers of Danbury.“This was a nice project to have been fortunate enough to be involved with and, in my opinion, is a great example of how well new can sit with old. They wanted to implement their office design and colours on to our partitioning system, giving them a fun and vibrant look to the space. Our solution was to use our Double Glazed Quartz system paired with our timber doors. This is the perfect system to meet their requirements as our Double Glazed Quartz provides a high acoustic performance, reaching up to 55dB.

Those lucky enough to be staying the night or two are shown to a sumptuous B&B suite upstairs.January 2020 saw Byfords renovate the ‘conservatory’ area of the restaurant, adding an impressive open marble-topped serving bar, behind which are positioned coffee machines and everything needed to make the ever-popular hot drinks throughout the day. One element of this key area that also needed upgrading was the water boiler. To design with people at the heart, acoustics and aesthetics played a key role in the system specification for this project. Helping to achieve the forward-thinking brief, Komfort’s Polar 54 slimline double glazed partitioning, acoustic Sonik doors and bespoke pivot doors were installed.Polar 54 was specified as part of the design due it to its slimline frame and acoustic ratings of up to 47dB (Rw); providing a flexible design solution that doesn’t compromise on performance. This Aerospace project utilised the whole Troax Commercial Partitioning offer. Utilising our Single Skin and Double skin steel partitioning. Using full steel panels, Steel glass steel panels and steel mesh steel panels, this project truly encapsulated all different bespoke offerings. Troax Lee grid ceilings were also installed on this project and half height partitioning also to section off certain areas.

To meet the brief, our Project Specification team met with Tapper Interiors to understand the design and performance requirements they required from their new premises. It was agreed that Komfort’s Polar Single Glazed partitioning and double glazed Sonik Doors with the Kross Glaze applied bars would deliver on the aesthetics, but also the performance. These systems were installed on the front reception and meeting rooms.Our Polar Single Glazed system was selected for its proven and reliable performance credentials and ease of installation. In conjunction with this, our double glazed Sonik Doors were installed to enhance acoustic performance levels of up to 38dB (Rw).This style glazing has dominated the commercial and residential market trends over recent months with its contemporary Art Deco feel. To meet the client’s design brief of an industrial style environment, our Kross Glaze bars were applied to both the inside and outside of the Polar Single Glazed partitioning and the Sonik Doors.The end resultThe project was completed to a high specification, meeting performance requirements and design ambitions. The design requirements to resist flooding meant Polar single glazed with 30 minutes fire integrity was installed. Komfort’s Polar single glazed partitioning was a large contingent to the interior design of the lower ground floor. Polar single glazed minimalist form is designed with the minimum of components, thus facilitated speed of erection without compromising structural stability and rigidity. Komfort’s 3000 fire doors were installed on meeting room doors to meet stringent safety requirements.

An innovative technical training centre, iMet provides high-level skills solutions for the built environment, manufacturing and technology sectors. This new facility offers intensely flexible space thanks to a number of advanced moveable wall systems, installed by Style, allowing staff to rapidly adapt rooms to meet ever-changing daily requirements. Two DORMA Variflex partitioning walls combine to sub-divide a large training area into two or three discrete classrooms. A third Variflex wall creates two smaller training rooms located on the other side of the building. Exceptional acoustics of 55dB Rw ensure training sessions can run concurrently.

To meet the modern and collaborative design requirement, whilst also serving the function of private spaces, Komfort’s Kross Glaze 600 full transom glazed partitioning system and door sets were installed. Also, to complement the office design for both aesthetics and performance, a mixture of acoustic and feature reeded glass was installed to suit the independent office briefs.

Holland had to mount its largest-ever security operation when it hosted the third Nuclear Security Summit at the World Forum in The Hague in March 2014, with 13,000 police officers, 3,000 soldiers and 4,000 military police mobilized during the summit.Organisers had to guarantee the security of the world leaders from 53 countries, including event sponsor US President Barack Obama, and up to 3,000 journalists without unduly disrupting the day-to-day lives and business of local Dutch citizens.The SolutionDutch police turned to a British high-security fencing systems manufacturer with a growing international reputation as the go-to company when world leaders gather and the hosts need to guarantee their protection.Zaun installed 30km of fencing to secure the London 2012 Olympics including VIP emergency gates at the Olympic Stadium which were dubbed the Obama Gates.Last year it provided the same service for the G8 Summit in Northern Ireland and the influential meeting of global leaders and the world’s commercial, political and financial powers at the Bilderberg conference at The Grove in Watford.Zaun worked with long-term partners Hardstaff Barriers and Highway Care to design, manufacture, install and decommission the temporary high-security cordon around the summit, which included 13 gates and almost 3km of fencing, much of it designed to mitigate the attack by hostile vehicles or protesting mobs of people.Debates within the security cordon – 1.8km of SecureGuard and 1.1km of its RDS Rapid Deployable System – focused on how to lock up the world’s nuclear materials more securely so they would not be so easy for terrorists to steal: a field again where Zaun has helped in securing the nuclear industry.

Wolvercote Primary School, Oxfordshire, first contracted Style to install a folding wall in a classroom in 2015. This proved so useful that when the need arose again, the teaching staff insisted on the same product. Working with architect SixPC and contractor Wensley Group, Style’s team recommended the same Stylefold 120 folding wall but, with an endfold configuration rather than centrefold arrangement, giving added space when the wall is not in use. Boasting an impressive 46dB Rw acoustic rating, the partition enables the school to run adjacent classes either side, or quickly open the room up into one large space.

81 Piccadilly, London, as a project presented a unique opportunity for Komfort to showcase their extensive product range and design capabilities in a complex commercial interior fit-out. The project was executed under a design and build contract, with Thirdway as the main contractor and Level Best Solutions as the sub contractor. Komfort being selected as the preferred partner due to their reputation for flexibility and their wide range of high-quality partition systems.

The Olympic Delivery Authority turned to Zaun to secure the near 20km boundary of the Olympic Park. A further 1.5km of Zaun fencing provided a ‘ring-within-a- ring’ around the Olympic Stadium. Zaun worked with Olympic Park contractor Skanska and stadium contractor BAM Nuttall to install 3.6m high fencing above ground, topped with 1.2m of electric fencing, with security properties specified by Olympic security advisers.

Installation completed of 3 number MG200 sliding folding partitions with integral glazing. With this project being over budget for the client ModernGlide were able to offer our range of veneer effects laminates instead of a hard wood veneer to give a saving to the client.The sliding folding acoustic partitions were designed and installed to sepperate the busy worship and social space. This allowed for 1 larger usable room and then to be sepperated with the use of the MG200, each system were manufactured with a access passdoor. Each MG200 system offers a access door panel to get to one side of the opening to the other as standard. Our flush lever door handle has been designed to comply with the DDA regulations. Due to the high level of foot traffic within these areas the MG200 system was ideal as each panel edge being protected with a satin anodised aluminum profile. Manufactured panels have a different level of acoustic reduction, but all of them provide the kind of flexibility needed to work perfectly within any office or commercial environment following a professional installation from ModernGlide. Because there is no need for a structural head support, this makes the MG200 series perfect for smaller openings. The versatility of our sliding folding wall partitions continue through the format of slimline stacking. This means that when the wall is not in use, it will take up minimal space in your environment.

Due to an increase of migrants trying to cross the borders illegally, there was a need to improve the fencing around the port to ensure people who did not have the correct paperwork or permissions to travel across the border were kept safe and out of harm’s reach whether it’s those attempting illegal breaches into the port site or those responsible for preventing them from doing so.The fencing was designed to prevent migrants from trying to stow away on trucks; usually, this would happen as the truck slows or comes to a stop, and the migrants would run and get inside the trucks to hitch a ride across the border.A migrant camp nearby, which it is reported housed more than 10,000 people, ensured a constant threat of illegal migrants trying to cross the border. Many displaced migrants congregate here in an attempt to cross the borders by illegal and dangerous means. People smugglers were a constant problem, many promising migrants jobs and security once they had crossed the border.The SolutionZaun HiSec 358 Fencing was installed along both sides of the main road into the port, which aimed to prevent the migrants from getting onto the vehicles as they slowed or came to a halt. This anti-climb mesh fencing system features 12.7mm x 76.2mm tight mesh apertures, which prevents people from getting a foothold and scale the fencing to get over and prevents objects from being passed through the fabric. It also provides resistance to cutting by conventional hand tools and is employed extensively in higher security applications supported with detection and surveillance technologies.In addition to the anti-climb mesh, Zaun’s Flexible Security Topping (FST) was also installed to the top of the fencing to ensure that anyone who did somehow manage to scale the fencing could not get a grip over the top of the fencing. FST is designed in such as way what it moves as people try to climb it. Installed with concertina wire, this provides the port with a fence that works as a visual deterrent and a practical one.High-security temporary fencing and barrier systems, including SecureGuard, were also installed around the port, which provides high security, a movable border that can not only be easily converted into a PAS68 HVM perimeter but is also movable if the perimeter needs reducing or expanding for any reason. This movable barrier system also featuring FST and concertina wire as a topping for an additional deterrent.

The White Rose Office Park in Leeds; is a purpose-built 27-acre business park owned and operated by Munroe K. In 2014, they unveiled a £12m office for the global banking giant HSBC.Utilising in-depth knowledge, that Munroe K had about their client and the local area; the project had a number of specific requirements that needed to be addressed from the start.The BriefSecurity and Aesthetics were the two key areas taken from the client’s requirements for their car park security fencing. These included the following:A fencing system that would provide open ventilation for the car park.Additional high security fencing to the rear of the car park due to the construction of plant and control equipment compounds.Anti-climb and anti-cut properties to all fencing systems.Aesthetically pleasing without compromising on the inbuilt security.After working through the wide range of car park security fencing systems in the CLD range, the client selected Safeogril Open Mesh Fencing for the front of the car park and Securus 358 Anti-Climb Mesh Fencing System to secure the rear. They required the front of the car park to look visually pleasing and; at the same time, fit within HSBC’s brand to complement the new offices. Alongside the aesthetics, the architects wanted the car park security fencing systems to still encompass a wide range of security features in order to keep the car park secure.The installation was completed by Davison Fencing, a member of CLD Systems Approved Contractors, working with ourselves and the architects for the duration of the installation process.

One of the UK’s largest utility companies required adequate security protection to their portable water sites. Water is treated from the local river supply at the site, which then supplies the local area. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the site is protected from any trespassers or any other miscreants who may be up to no good. Sites of this nature must be kept safe and secure to ensure that the water supplies to the public are kept as clean and safe as possible. The site is operated 24/7 and required additional security support to ensure the large site is kept safe and secure.Project Brief for Water Treatment Works SecurityThe site is required to be protected in line with the company Risk-Based Approach (RBA) and security requirements from DEFRA with recommended security upgrades to the physical perimeter security fencing, video surveillance systems (VSS), access control and intruder detection systems.Perimeter security fencing was required to be upgraded to at least LPS 1175 SR2 (B3) level with detection and access control and careful consideration to the surrounding forest, home to several animals, including Wild Boar. This causes several problems for the site, including damage to the existing fence and potential water quality issues. In addition, the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) are particularly interested in the vermin and pest control for the site, so designing the security solution had to consider this.The SolutionBinns Security was appointed as principal contractor for CDM and project managed the whole project from start to finish, including coordinating works. Based on the site's requirements, Zaun’s HiSec Super SR2 fencing was selected to upgrade the existing non-rated perimeter fencing and gates to LPS1175 SR2 standards, providing the client with perimeter fencing system with a guaranteed delay of at least 3 minutes.Designed with a height of 2.4m as a minimum with a 358 anti-climb mesh configuration makes it very difficult to scale and prevents climbing aids. To combat vermin and pest control, the perimeterfencing is also required to be buried at 300mm, which stops the vermin and also prevents burrowing from any potential intruders.Both pedestrian and vehicular gates were also upgraded to LPS1175 SR2 to match the fence line and provide operational access without compromising the site's security. This single layered LPS1175 SR2 rated fencing system was accompanied by Harper Chalice’s perimeter intrusion detection system (PIDS) FenceSecure, which provides an early warning for any unauthorised access.
