The Old War Office - Refurbishment

The Old War Office - Refurbishment

RYNO

The Old War Office is a magnificent refurbishment of Winston Churchill's headquarters during the World War II. The sensitive restoration of this Grade 2 historic building includes a 125-room world class Raffles Hotel and 85 luxury residences, along with restaurants, exclusive bars, a Spa and Wellness centre. Referred to as London’s anticipated destination, this architectural landmark opens its doors to the public in Summer 2023.RYNO’s involvement in the scheme included providing the paving and substructure to the Centre triangle Courtyard and the Penthouse Roof Terraces. The triangle Courtyard was finished with a RYNO Quadro porcelain range and supported on our TerraSmart Rail system. The system uses a double lattice structure to provide superior support to the pavers even around the complex curves of the planters on the courtyard and penthouse terraces. The design and detailing of the build-ups from concept to completion has been brilliant, fully complementing the building’s magnificent heritage and unique character.RYNO worked very closely with The Gardenists to ensure the rail layout and build-ups were designed to absolute perfection. Seeing is believing and as Calvin Dalrymple, Specification Manager at RYNO, testifies “to come to the site and see the results…, they really just speak for themselves. Knowing and understanding the coordination that's gone into this whole project and now to see it looking so fantastic has really been a huge reward.” Home to Winston Churchill and David Lloyd George, the Old War Office was designed in a trapezium shape to maximise the use of the land in Whitehall. Of the 25 million bricks that make up the building, the first was laid in 1901: the building was completed in 1906. For all Bond-fans out there, the building has featured in the background of many films: its first Bond-appearance was in 1983.

Dorma Variflex Manual Acoustic moveable wall - Glasgow, Rangers FC - Edmisston House

Style - Moveable Partition Specialists

Glasgow’s Edmiston House is a state-of the art facility that incorporates the Rangers Football Club museum, a two-storey Rangers FC store and a spacious events area. Partitioning experts, Style, worked with architect, Keppie Design, and contractor, Sharkey to deliver flexibility to the function space, installing two Dorma Hüppe Variflex moveable wall systems. Cleverly designed, the walls meet to form a T-shape, allowing the area to be divided into two individual rooms linked by an external corridor. For maximum functionality, both rooms have pass doors, fitted with push-bar panic hardware to meet evacuation regulations, giving entirely separate access. The Variflex walls offer a superb 57dB acoustic rating which enables concurrent events to take place undisturbed.A truly world-class resource, Edmiston House is not just for Rangers but for the local community and the city of Glasgow. The highly adaptable event space can be used to host seminars, conferences, gigs, exhibitions, awards’ ceremonies and as a fan-zone on important match days.“This is a great example of where moveable walls can be combined to create a really flexible room configuration,” said David Louden, Style’s director for Scotland.“As the room can often host lively events, the acoustic rating is also a huge benefit as it means two events can be hosted without interfering with one another. “The classic Pearl Grey III finish on these moveable walls also works well, offering not only an adaptable space but a stylish one too.”Style is the UK’s leading provider of moveable, partitioning and folding walls and is the exclusive UK partner to Dorma Huppe, Skyfold and SWG.

dormakaba UK & Ireland Ltd

A secure and flexible solution with DORVISIONAs part of a programme of reducing maintenance costs whilst improving security across its stadium and ancillary club buildings, Blackburn Rovers FC has launched a new “open and closed doors” policy. As part of the policy, the football club has installed DORVISION, an innovative GPRS based door controls system developed by dormakaba, global leader in the development of door technology products and systems. Enabling the remote opening and closing of multiple doors from one central location, the system has enabled the Football Club to significantly achieve its goals of reduced costs and increased security.dormakaba’s contribution to the projectAn extensive review of the way the club manned the many entrances associated with its estate and the costs involved with using staff to maintain security, highlighted the rising costs associated with manually unlocking and locking its doors plus emergency and regular maintenance visits. Requiring a solution that would cut man hours associated with manually opening and closing doors as well as reduced service costs, and having been satisfied with the dormakaba automatic door controls used throughout the stadium, Blackburn Rovers Football Club turned to the company’s innovative DORVISION solution.DORVISION was installed onto the existing twelve sets of doors which included dormakaba’S automatic sliding door operators ES200 and ES90 and the electro-hydraulic swing door operator ED200. These were located at various parts of the stadium including entrances for fans and players, a reception area and a retail shop. The club had the additional requirement for a retail shop, located offsite in Blackburn city centre which also required a remote opening, closing and locking facility on the existing dormakaba automatic doors

CLD Physical Security Systems

In 2023, CLD Systems embarked on a remarkable project that showcased its expertise.Tasked with transforming the home of West Ham United FC at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park’s London Stadium, a prominent stadium hosting Major League Baseball London Series fixtures, CLD Systems demonstrated its commitment to excellence and delivered a significant enhancement to the stadium’s infrastructure. This project commenced with CLD Systems being appointed by a pitch installer, the key entity responsible for the stadium’s transformation. CLD Systems’ primary role was to provide a robust fencing system that would enclose the perimeter of the baseball field. This system not only served as an integral structure to form the field build but also had to withstand the impact of professional athletes running at full speed and occasionally climbing the fencing to catch a ball. Additionally, the fencing system provided support for the installation of padding, ensuring player safety, and acted as a platform for advertising and marketing purposes. The efficiency and professionalism of all teams involved were evident throughout the project. Completed within a remarkable 18-day timeline, the stadium was decommissioned and made ready for the next event in under five days. The impact of the project was reflected in the remarkable attendance figures, with over 110,000 spectators witnessing the grandeur of the revitalised stadium. The highest attendance record was set on Saturday, with 54,622 spectators, which was surpassed the following day when Sunday’s attendance peaked at an impressive 55,565."We are proud to have been part of the MLB World Series at the London Stadium project, contributing our expertise in security fencing to enhance the safety and integrity of the venue.
