All these spaces have a sound optimisation of up to 18dB reduction and provide comfort underfoot.

Warwick Gates, also known as Austin Heath is a Continuing Care Retirement Community within Warwick. This impressive new build development has been officially awarded the “Most Outstanding New Retirement Village Design in the UK” in 2015. The £65 Million development offers exclusive one and two bedroom homes for the over 65’s with a range of facilities on-site, including a ‘wellness spa’ and relaxation room, gym, deli shop, restaurant and community rooms.The project has been designed by Tyack Associates to be domestic in scale and village-like in character with Assisted Living Apartments arranged in a series of courtyards and terraces. The architecture of steeply pitched roofs, bays and balconies are central motifs throughout the various building types, with materials such as timber windows and doors, plain tiles, red brick and boarding giving the architecture a warm, rich domestic character.As you would expect for such a prestigious project only the highest quality products are acceptable. Arden Windows were proud to secure PH2 of the project through evidencing the high-quality standard of their Hathaway Flush Casement Windowsand Stratford Residential Doors. Both products are manufactured in their state of the art factory in Coventry within an ISO9001 Quality Management and ISO14001 Environmental system and fully meet the high-performance specification and accreditations demanded by such a high-level client. Windows and doors are supplied fully factory glazed and factory finished and are Secured By Design certified.Working in collaboration with the main contractor Engie, Arden successfully completed the installation of the windows and doors for PH2 in early 2019. The client and contractor were so impressed with the quality of the product on PH2 that Arden were awarded the contract for the supply and installation of windows and doors to PH3 of the project in January 2020. Rooflights deliver top class performance at new-build educational facilityBrett Martin supplied new-build Tauheedul Islam School with a combination of Marvault vault rooflight systems and Glass Link rooflights meeting no less than 2 design solutions.The Marvaults were installed over the stunning refectory in lengths of more than 15 metres and spans of 2.3 metres, where large continuous runs were needed.These vaults provide the optimum combination of light transmission and UV protection and play a crucial role in reducing demand for electric lighting as well as lowering CO2 emissions and running costs. A series of 8 premium Glass Link rooflights then, which met the requirement for high light transmission and thermal performance, were fitted to flood the multi-sports complex with natural daylight. A laminated inner pane also ensures the safety of those below.Both rooflight systems deliver exceptional levels of daylight into the school optimising internal environment conditions. They play a crucial role in both the aesthetic and thermal performance of the school whilst having a positive impact on students’ wellbeing.

Soundis were required to supply and install the Absorb-R GypLine αw acoustic plaster to the underside of the central staircase and to various meeting rooms around the BSKYB TV Meeting Centre.Offering unrivalled levels of sound absorption...The project presented challenges, programme constraints and critical interfaces with Mechanical & Electrical trades all of which were dealt with by the site and installations team in a professional manner.The Absorb-R GypLine αw finish offers unrivalled levels of sound absorption but also ensures walls and ceilings are clear of panels and visible acoustic solutions, providing a virtually seamless monolithic surface for walls and ceilings in a choice of RAL colours.This was ideal for the BSKYB project team as it complied with all of their requirements and expectations. Absorb-R GypLine αw is now being specified and utilised in a large number of office, hotel and leisure projects throughout the UK.

JUTA UK is delighted to have provided Crufts with an outstanding synthetic surface for such a prestigious and well respected event within the Dog Agility community. For a long time we have been noticing common weaknesses of classic sports surfaces – too much hardness or softness, high moisture levels, dust, mud, durability, maintenance needs and constant play characteristics. With JUTAgrass all these issues are a thing of the past. JUTAgrass was installed throughout the show including the main arena, and the ‘Young Kennel Club’ agility area. We also supplied the press/interview area also to keep up the professional theme.

Kingham Hill School was originally built by the Christian philanthropist Charles Edward Baring Young in 1886. Today, with just over 340 pupils, it caters for both girls and boys aged 11-18. When it was decided to replace and re-develop the main sports hall at Kingham Hill, the aspects of quality, performance, looks and durability would be pivotal in the final flooring specification. The school turned to international flooring specialist Gerflor to supply 770m2 of its world renowned Taraflex® Performance vinyl sports flooring in Blue and Pink to provide the high performing, multi-use solution it was seeking.

There are three hotels in the Resort, with about 1,750 rooms in total. Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, a 400 room Victorian-era themed hotel inspired by Disney's Grand Floridian Spa Resort and the Parisian Disneyland Hotel. Disney's Hollywood Hotel, a 600 room art deco style hotel themed to 1930s Hollywood glamour. Disney Explorers Lodge, with 750 rooms. It features an exploration theme with four main areas: Polynesian, Asian, South American rainforest and African plains. Lorient supplied Batwing® acoustic and smoke seals to all three of the hotels across the Disneyland Resort.

Eurosafe Solutions undertook the challenge and provided a safety solutions to Scotland’s Largest Art Installation, the Kelpies. Working alongside the main contractor on the project, SH Structures, Eurosafe Solutions supplied and installed an internal ladder within each of the horse heads, one 19 meters high and another 21 meters high whilst also providing rope access assistance to the installers of the structures external cladding. The ladders provided by Eurosafe Solutions consist of multiple sections of Glideloc “Y” spar ladder sections, with a pivot section at the front of each which can be locked to prevent unauthorised use.

In 2018 South Ayrshire Council appointed main contractor Portakabin to build a proposed new state-of-the-art Early Years Centre in Ayr, Scotland. The £2.2 million Cherry Tree Early Years Centre development now provides the largest modular modern learning environment in Scotland. Ensuring that children and staff would have a safe and comfortable environment was at the forefront of the specification process and needed to include the best quality flooring possible. The final choice of products was awarded to international flooring specialist Gerflor, who supplied 300m2 of their Taralay Impression Comfort and award-winning Taralay Impression Control products.

Howe Green access covers were selected for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s studio theatre renovation project ‘The Other Place’, in Stratford-Upon-Avon. The covers were required to provide routine and emergency access to underfloor ducting services throughout the building. Howe Green supplied a number of 7500 Series Medium Duty Floor Access Covers. The access covers are ideal for areas that require heavy loading as they are highly durable. Main contractor, BAM Construction, fitted the panels on a suspended concrete slab. Once installed, they were infilled with K-screed followed by a resin finish.

Following the brief outlined by the water treatment plant the proposal adopted for implementation was for the creation of secure access control. Bi-Folding Speed Gates topped with razor wire were supplied to each of the main entry and exit points to the site. These were supported by PAS 68 rising bollards and rising arm barriers with synchronised operation and traffic light signalling. The gates and barriers were flanked by runs of Jacksons Securi-Mesh® fencing to provide a separate pedestrian entrance to the facility, while static PAS 68 rated bollards were additionally deployed to manage traffic within the site.

Both the changing rooms and staff areas contain over 100 Prospec supply and installed Marathon wet use laminate lockers. Prospec Marathon lockers are designed specifically to withstand the rigours of a busy leisure centre. The installation also included other products from Prospec’s versatile Marathon range such as Marathon Conform fully framed cubicles, bespoke solid surface vanities, Cabrillant shower cubicles and both wall mounted and double island bench seating. Prospec worked closely with the specifying architects Roberts Limbrick, main contractor Pellikaan Construction, and leisure operator Places for People Leisure.

Albion Stone were able to supply the desired quality of finished product within the contract programme. The New Independent Whitbed specified for the main flooring provided the aesthetic qualities and character required for large areas of floor in a luxury development of this kind.New Independent Whitbed was selected for 1860m² of flooring, 454 linear metres of stair treads and 1,300 linear metres of skirtings. Two fireplaces were also produced using New Independent Whitbed as well as the bath surrounds and bath steps. Independent Grove Whitbed was selected for internal wall tiling and Bowers Roach for feature panels on the external facades.

Challenging brief The CLD team worked closely from the initial design stage to ensure they met budgets and a challenging brief: to create a fencing design that was attractive and fun whilst providing optimal safety for the school and its 200 pupils. CLD supplied the Dulok Wavetop system for discreet but robust security, the Dulok Rebound system for high performance sports fencing and locking gates with a Slidemaster main gate. A unique multi-coloured ‘pencil’ fence was also added marking out the play area with large pencil-shaped posts with wooden tops that can be re-painted by the children in any colour.

BACKGROUNDThe University of Birmingham is a world top 100 public research university located in Edgbaston. The University required a refit of their entrance hall and foyer for the main entrance and had strict tender criteria, with requirements for superior performance ratings for fire and acoustics.BRIEFWorking closely with main contractor Bouygues UK, MIDDAS conceptualised a bespoke solution for the foyer and main entrance hall that would easily meet the strict tender criteria. The glazed panels and doors would be integrated into third party walls, so the team also needed to coordinate with the incumbent door automation and access control company to ensure all components were engineered to the correct specifications.  SOLUTIONMIDDAS supplied M100 full height fire rated glazed panels and associated framework, with integrated fire rated door sets. In-built connections that did not require any additional site preparation or modifications to function properly were incorporated alongside the required fail-safe protection and finger guards. The offsite manufacture and clean lines provided by the MIDDAS flush fitting solution meant the University realised some additional benefits. Building access for students and staff was required during the refit, and with its pre-formed opening, the MIDDAS panel construction lent itself to quick on-site assembly and minimal disruption during installation. The new bi-panel glazed system enclosed the steel framework, so students could no longer leave items on the glazing rail.

Stratum helped create a healthy and fresh environment in the specialist research laboratories based at the world-renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital. The space would be heavily used and the nature of the work in the labs required the floor to be hygienic, seamless, easy to clean and with high resistance to chemicals. The design of the building allows the public to see through the windows into the laboratories from street level, meaning aesthetics were equally as important in product selection as functional properties. Stratum installed 800m2 of Pure Design – Bolidtop 525 with integrated skirting throughout. Solution-      Joint free makes for a very hygienic solution, with integrated joint free skirting adding to this.-      Close co-ordination with the contractor, enabled the structure to be sufficiently progressed early in the programme. This allowed the resin to be installed early and fully protected in ample time for the lab benches to be installed over.-      Electrical Floor Bokes, seamless skirting.Result-      The resin flooring installed here is an excellent addition to this multi-award winning building.  “The Bolidt resin provides the perfect seamless floor finish in the main laboratory spaces within the Zayed Centre for Research. These are most visible laboratory spaces within the building, both internally and from the public realm, and a choice of floor finish was important. As well as giving the right visual appearance it provides the functional properties required for these hard working spaces. Pre-installation samples of the resin flooring were tested by the client user team and passed on all technical requirements. The resin floor is used in both dry and wet areas of the laboratory and is easy to maintain. This significant project was the restoration and extension of a 1976 Basil Spence building in the City of London. This original structure was designed for The Salters, an 800-year-old livery company. It combines post-war bold brutalism with a world of ritual and tradition and its associated memorabilia.InterLace designed, manufactured and installed electric roof blinds for the light and airy atrium, and hand-operated roller blinds in offices.

The Anchorage Gateway in Salford Quays is a new multi-storey building in the centre of Salford. The main wing is 29 storeys high whilst the lower tower tops out at 19 storeys. The ground floor contains almost 400m2 of commercial space and the upper floors contain 290 residential units and 800m2 of amenity space.The building is reputed to be one of the highest brick clad buildings in Europe, Kinlan Brickwork being specialist sub-contractor.Domis Construction is the main contractor on this scheme. URSA UK Ltd was chosen as the preferred insulation manufacturer. We supplied over 11,500m2 of 100mm URSAPAN BLACK - a unique glass mineral wool rainscreen cladding insulation slab;·      Euroclass A1 fire rating (non-combustible).·      Thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/mK.·      BBA Certified. Kate Fox, Area Sales Manager for the Midlands stated, ‘Following the success of this initial partnership URSA are now the preferred supplier of rainscreen insulation and our products have been used on Fifty5ive Queen Street in Salford with others in the pipeline including Derwent Street’.

In the heart of Blyth’s impressive harbour development, The Commissioners Quay Inn sought out a soundproofing solution, to improve the noise quality within the rooms. Allowing customers enjoy a better night’s sleep, as noise was able to spread to the rooms above.Upon being called from main contractor Bowmer & Kirkland, we won tender to supply 1,358 m2 of 50mm FFT3 Soundis Acoustic Battens including 10mm Soundis Rubber Acoustic Resilient Layer. To reach required Part E of Building Regulations, but also to improve noise quality and allow for creating a void for any under floor applications, such as cables.

GEC Anderson stainless steel worktops and units were recently specified within the heart of historic Lancaster Castle.Until 2011, the castle was used as a working prison and courtroom but an ongoing modernisation program is now underway. Educational and visitor facilities to this important legacy make the historical facts available to everyone. Building Design Partnership were employed to deal with this work and GEC Anderson worked with main contractor, Manchester and Cheshire Construction. A continuous stainless steel worktop with integral sinks and stainless steel supports was supplied and installed by GEC Anderson. The unit was tailored to fit within the original, angled, stone wall.

Fleet Street in the City of London has long been known as the historic home of the British press. Number 53 is a Victorian terrace, with a striking front tiled facade. Thornsett Group, working with architects Capital Architecture, has recently converted the property into five luxury residences, plus ground floor retail space. We were appointed to design, supply and install 26 traditional box sash windows for the main elevation, with an acoustic performance of 45 dB Rw. For the rear of the property we provided 24 inward-opening timber tilt and turn windows, plus lift and slide patio doors.

The Hilda Besse building at St Antony’s College, Oxford, one of the country’s best examples of Post-War architecture, has been refurbished by award-winning architectural and heritage consultancy practice Purcell. As part of a sensitive renovation to enhance the original architecture and ensure the building’s sustainable future, Junckers solid wood flooring was fitted throughout the common rooms, kitchens and the dining hall. Informed by historic drawings and photographs, Purcell specified a dark wooden floor, reverting to the original finish found in the building. Junckers Black Oak plank flooring was fitted in a bespoke geometric pattern designed by the architect, complementing the elaborate ceiling features. Junckers’ Approved Flooring Contractor V. A. Hutchison Flooring sampled the bespoke pattern on site and created all the joints and cuts with their own bespoke methods, specially adapted for such intricate work. The result is an elegant floor fit for purpose, offering both a grand impression and a durable floor surface. Junckers Black Oak is made by mimicking the natural process known as ‘bog oak’ where timber left submerged in bog conditions takes on a rich, dark colour. The colour is drawn deep into the wood, unlike a surface stain. This unique method enables sanding and refinishing of the floor without loss of colour. Specifying a solid hardwood floor for the Grade II listed building ensures longevity of both design and use. A Junckers floor has a long lifespan and will last for generations. Part of the refurbishment and conservation work included improving the building’s sustainable performance as well as the wellbeing of staff and students. A solid hardwood floor from Junckers is one of the most sustainable flooring surfaces available. Junckers has completed EPDs for its wooden floors to ensure all elements of the supply chain, from raw material sourcing to production and distribution, adhere to strict sustainability standards. Wood is naturally low in embodied carbon and can easily be recycled at the end of its long life. Wooden floors contribute to a healthy indoor environment by maintaining an even temperature and counter-acting static from electrical appliances. All Junckers wood floors carry the Danish Indoor Climate Label, ensuring there are no chemical substances in the flooring which adversely affect the air quality in a room. The main contractor for the project was CBRE. 

Perimeter fencing for a national distribution centreAs part of the development of a new national distribution centre, IAE Fencing Division supplied it’s Zebex fencing system to secure the perimeter and internal areas of the site.2000m of FencingThe supply included over 2000m of fencing, which enclosed areas containing the main distribution warehouse, company office, staff car park, and company vehicle maintenance yard.Safety & SecurityPerimeter fencing is included to prevent accidental ingress and deter malicious intruders.The site has the potential to be very dangerous, as there are lots of heavy good vehicles and forklifts moving around. The perimeter fence provides a significant boundary, preventing members of the public from accidentally entering the site, and channelling site visitor to designated access points. This is important as the site owners are liable for the safety of anyone on the site, and one of the most effective ways to protect people is to make sure they can’t access potentially dangerous areas to being with.The fence also provides a significant obstacle, acting as a deterrent to more malicious intruders such as thieves and vandals and reducing the likelihood of costs associated with theft and damage.Flexible SystemIAE’s Zebex is a flexible system that can be adapted on site to most ground conditions.The distribution centre included many areas of uneven ground with extended sections of the site boundary including substantial inclines.The Zebex system was simply stepped using the pre-drilled holes in the posts to account for the undulating ground.Zebex Site GatesTo complete the perimeter around the site IAE supplied several gates clad with Zebex mesh panels for a consistent look with the rest of the perimeter, including pedestrian access and main goods vehicle entry points.Specifying IAE’s Zebex Perimeter FencingZebex Perimeter Fencing is one of IAE most popular fencing system and has been installed on hundreds of sites across the country. We were commissioned to supply and install cloakroom fittings and a bespoke ‘classpack’ package for a four-classroom extension at Hillside School in the north-east of Scotland... all to seriously tight deadlines.Portlethen is one of Aberdeen’s fastest-growing commuter towns and, within two years of completion, the local primary school needed space for more pupils... quickly. What’s more, the four-classroom extension had to be completed while the existing school and nursery operated as normal.Boyco were approached to simply provide fixed furniture and equipment but, instead, proposed a fully managed, supply and installation service that would ease the pressure on main contractor Bancon Construction. Our end-to-end package included the design, manufacture and installation of a bespoke system of cloakroom fittings, teacher walls, kitchen units and height-adjustable worktops.Challenging lead times were made more difficult by the coronavirus pandemic and new construction site rules. However, we put together a plan of works for accelerated manufacture and installed the systems in just two weeks at the end of 2020. Originally the European headquarters of Lehman Brothers until their insolvency, it was then acquired by JP Morgan in 2010.InterLace designed, manufactured and installed luxury sheer and blackout curtains to boardrooms and executive suites along with electric curtain tracks. Offices have new, and also refurbished existing blinds throughout.

Cambridge Judge Business School was founded on the Grade II Old Addenbrooke’s Hospital site originally constructed in the mid-eighteenth century, in the historic centre of Cambridge. This new Centre reflects the evolving culture of the University through the changing requirements for learning environments.InterLace designed, manufactured and installed electric and hand-operated roller blinds to provide user controlled and automated shading in teaching and lecture spaces.

Five new towers at the University of Brighton’s Moulsecoomb Campus are now protected by a fault-tolerant network of MxPro 5 fire panels from Advanced.The 13 networked MxPro 5 panels have been installed to protect the five student accommodation towers varying between eight and 18 storeys, which will provide more than 800 student bedrooms as well as ground-floor fitness facilities and amenities for the students’ union. Responsible for the fire system design, supply and commissioning were West Sussex-based Southern Fire Alarms (SFA) Ltd, who installed the equipment alongside mechanical and electrical engineers J&B Hopkins.The fire system is integrated with multiple third-party interfaces, including automatic opening vents (AOVs), sprinklers and access control. Careful consideration was given to the complex cause and effect programming that needed to be applied across the site. Each building is configured with a six-minute investigation period, with sounders on the floor of origin initiated after a single device activation. A single subsequent device activation will escalate into full evacuation of the specific tower. A master key switch has also been introduced, to allow for full evacuation of all towers if required.

Pure Design – Bolidtop 525Colour – S 7500-N with textureless anti-slip1300m²Installation dates - July 2021 (10 days) Museums and performing arts venues are subject to intensive use by millions of shuffling feet, day in day out as well as heavy loads from equipment and installations. Stratum were chosen to prepare and resurface 1300m2 of the existing floor to the iconic main space of the Roundhouse, in Camden, which had endured 15 years of heavy use. The building is a heritage site, originally built as a steam engine shed, therefore our flooring needed to meet the functional requirements for the users but also sensitively fit in with the history of the space and its aesthetics. The surface needed to be hardwearing allowing for large scale builds for various productions, involving plant use, installation of temporary structures, staging etc. We sanded back the entire floor, repaired the damage and installed Bolidtop 525 over the top with textureless anti-slip coating. Challenge-      Working within an extremely busy venue with a tight time scale and no room for error.-      Being a heritage site we would need to be mindful of the original structure of the building-      Large footprint spanning across the main space of the venue.-      No dust creation allowed due to sensitive electrical equipment. Solution-      We agreed a slot and timescale to carry out all of the works in 10 days. We programmed out the works for the customer and provided them with daily updates.-      We used the highest grade dust extraction equipment. We ensured that labour and materials were all available in a timely manner.Benefits/Installation-      The customer was able to select the same smooth, matt appearance they had before but with a different colour choice and the addition of our new tried and tested textureless anti-slip coating.Result-      After 15 years of heavy use this magnificent heritage site has a seamless, durable and safe floor reinstated to provide the functional qualities required for many years of intense footfall and wear the performing arts industry creates. The floor sympathetically compliments the building with a simple, matt finish. "We used Stratum to floor the corridors and they did a great job. The Olympic Delivery Authority turned to Zaun to secure the near 20km boundary of the Olympic Park. A further 1.5km of Zaun fencing provided a ‘ring-within-a- ring’ around the Olympic Stadium. Zaun worked with Olympic Park contractor Skanska and stadium contractor BAM Nuttall to install 3.6m high fencing above ground, topped with 1.2m of electric fencing, with security properties specified by Olympic security advisers.

When the last remaining building of Birmingham’s first gas works was bought by the Church of England, they were aware that, when newly constructed in 1818, its main function was the supply of gas to illuminate the dark streets. Now redeveloped into a vibrant church named St. Luke's, Gas Street it offers a different kind of light to the people of the city.In its new role, the former Gas Retort House now has a growing congregation of over 300, mainly comprising of young people and students, who are led by The Revd. Verdo, Kew BridgeEcoWorld BrentfordCemfloor Level PlusA luxury development of apartments, shops, restaurants, parks and offices situated next to Brentford Football Club in West London.Cemfloor Level Plus was chosen for this project as the contractor required a screed that could be installed at low thicknesses. Cemfloor Level Plus was supplied by Capital Concrete and installed by Advance Screeding UK ltdClose to the River Thames, and next to Brentford football club in West London, Kew Bridge is a selection of beautiful new homes, as well as shops, cafes and restaurants. It is part of the wider Brentford regeneration project, and developed by EcoWorld.There are a total of 6 blocks on the site, and Cemfloor was the screed of choice for the main contractor.The main contractor had problems with the floor levels on site, so Cemfloor provided a thin screed system to work alongside the unique low profile UFH system; a castellated mat system installed onto Superfoil insulation. The UFH system was supplied by Compact Underfloor Heating. The complete floor build was only 45mm in depth and included acoustic insulation, thermal insulation, castellated UFHsystem, and Cemfloor Level Plus.Advanced Screeding installed Cemfloor Level Plus throughout the development. In total 800m3 of screed was easily pumped to height, over 11 floors without issue,providing an excellent, fast drying low profile floor, and saving significant time on the project.As Cemfloor Level Plus is a ready mixed solution it removed the need for any site mixing, material storage and material disposal from the site. Given the volume of screed required; if a self leveling compound product was used this would have equated to approx. 55,000 x 25kg bags of material having to be mixed on site.
