Some of our most important public sector assets are held within the healthcare system so choosing the correct specification is critical. Often these buildings host patients or the latest medical equipment, and this centrally funded NHS project at Chase Farm Hospital was no different. This particular project hosted an array of plant and equipment for the NHS and our lightweight DANOPOL HS 1.5mm mechanically fastened membrane was chosen as the waterproofing system to be installed onto the structural metal deck. The scheme also featured a tapered insulation scheme in partnership with Kingspan Insulation designed to 1:60 falls and 0.30 w/m2 K u-value. When installed to structural metal decks, all the mechanically fastened components are mechanically fastened to the crowns only, so careful consideration must be made to ensure that any mechanical fasteners coincide appropriately. A project-specific wind uplift calculation was completed by our technical team which provided detailed instructions and fastening patterns for the mechanical attachment of both the waterproofing membrane and tapered insulation scheme. Because of these restrictions the only drainage and protection board suitable within the system was Bauder’s Versicell 20, which is just 20mm in height but can withstand extremely high loading. The surface of the deck consists of three distinct finishes; permeable paving on the ground floor patios and walkways, artificial turf featuring fibreglass planters to serve as a communal garden and rubber mulch to create a play area for children.Balconies and communal walkways were waterproofed with Bauder’s cold applied reinforced waterproofing layer; which is extremely fast curing and can withstand foot traffic within an hour of being installed. Two ranges of Furnitubes’ products have been selected for the deck area at HereEast, London business space and headquarters for BT Sport. The RailRoad range of seating and integrated planters is employed where the furniture can be placed on a more or less permanent basis and Ribbon XL seating modules are used where they need to be moved more regularly. The unusual Ribbon XL kissing seat, with two backrests facing opposite directions, and the two-person high-back recliner are the initial products used. Steelwork was finished in a dark grey PPC to match the metalwork on the Broadcast Centre.

Neaco’s glass balustrade and aluminium grille systems are once again proving their value in contemporary design schemes following a specification at Fawcetts Yard, a development of luxury homes in Harrogate. Designed by Bramhall Blenkharn and built by HACS Construction, the select development comprises four stylish three-storey homes alongside a workshop/studio. The balconies on each home feature Neaco’s Techdek decking as well as their Elan semi-structural balustrade system with aluminium stanchions and handrails in a grey powder coated finish. The result is an attractively minimalist aesthetic in keeping with the development’s modern design and finish.

Union Wharf is a two tower residential development in Greenwich, London. A 23-storey Roof garden makes the most of the breath-taking views of the London skyline.Designing and specifying products for a 23-storey high terrace comes with some key issues which must be addressed. One of which, the Terrafina decking overcame due to its easy clip system making it a doddle to install and overcome this problem.Another, was to ensure a solid base for the artificial grass and planters to be fixed to. This was however, something Raaft had planned for and the Floor structure panels was an easy solution to this.

2-6 Cannon Street is a high-end new build commercial office building located in the City of London. Alfresco Floors were commissioned by Frost Landscape Construction to supply and install the GRAD decking and rail systems, which were supported by the Buzon pedestal system. This was a particularly challenging project as steel planters were strategically located in the middle of the roof terrace so installation had to be carried out around the numerous planters. The finished outdoor space at 2-6 Cannon Street provides office workers with a unique roof top terrace.

Accoya selected for the cladding & decking of the new Forest of Genetic Resource Department, Korea. To date, this project marks the largest wooden scale structure in the whole of Korea. Because of this iconic status the construction had to ensure that the most advanced materials such as Accoya were chosen. Due to the project being 4 storeys high Accoya was selected for its extreme durability & stability. Designed by IDS architects, Accoya was also chosen because of its natural & bespoke aesthetic. Due to Accoya’s light appearance the cladding could be painted to satisfy the designers requirements.

The Queensferry Crossing is a stunning piece of modern engineering. Spanning the busy Forth Estuary near Edinburgh on the east coast of Scotland, it has a total length of 2.7 kilometres, making it the longest three-tower cable-stayed bridge in the world. The crossing’s road deck is made with over 35,000 tonnes of steel, that was manufactured in China and the UK and transported to Scotland by sea. With our coatings protecting four of the world’s ten largest cable-stayed bridges – the steel manufacturer Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (ZPMC) knew our coatings were ideal for the job.

The client was looking to replace an old wooden walkway. Their contractor recommended iDecking because of its low profile aluminium substructure and composite boards which require far less ongoing maintenance. The installer removed the old decking then used Wallbarn’s heavy duty MegaPad pedestals to underpin the iDecking rail system. These were screwed to the concrete lintels before the aluminium under rails were screwed into the pedestals. The laying pattern followed the architect’s original design, drawing the eye down the length of the walkway. This job took 2 weeks to complete and the client is delighted with the results.

Project involved decking a 350m2 the rooftop of a commercial block in the heart of the city. The owners wanted to create a roof terrace for staff. The customer chose the iDecking complete solution for it's superior look. Installation was carried out on an inverted roof. The contractor laid down a double layer of our aluminium frame onto Wallbarn MegaPad pedestals which provide a stable footing for the framework. The composite Moor Oak boards were stamped into position. Installers were able to achieve a great finish by accurately cutting the boards to fit neatly to edges and corners.

The Bauder Hot Melt Bakor 790-11 EV with Polyester reinforcement creates a resistant monolithic waterproofing membrane whilst the Bauder AP2 root barrier provides resistance to the system allowing for a green roof to be installed above. As stated by BBA certificate 06/4350, this system provides a durable waterproofing solution for the service life of the structure that it is incorporated in. The resultOn completion of the waterproofing elements the roof was leak tested to ensure the roof’s integrity. The TCRC then installed the Bauder green roof components; PE foil, FSM600 protection membrane, DSE40 drainage layer, filter fleece and over 300 tonnes of Bauder intensive substrate. Finally, Rowland Gold turf was then installed with a drip line irrigation system installed under the turf. An urban regeneration project in Longford is the latest of a series of outstanding bridge projects to use Neaco’s Neadek aluminium decking. Almost 20m long and 4.7m wide at its widest point, the Camlin River Bridge is a footbridge featuring a unique curved ‘bow’ design by Kenny Lyons architects. Neatdek features a contact area of 74% on the surface yet drains water efficiently and its swage-locked construction enables high structural efficiency. The system has an anti-slip surface for increased safety and aluminium has an A1 Fire Rating – the highest achievable score for non-combustibility.

We supplied and installed our Spectrum nylon-coated balustrades with glass infills and Neatdek aluminium decking with alternate inserts on every balcony. Frosted glass screens were also supplied between balconies to provide an element of privacy for the occupants. A spokesperson from ENGIE says, “Neaco offered an excellent service from start to finish. They had the task of designing and installing their product to the existing structural steel which they carried out with very few issues and all modifications were handled by the teams promptly and efficiently, so that our programme was maintained throughout. Overall, the service provided was outstanding”.

The meticulous refurbishment of this Grade II Listed landmark provides a stunning range of luxuriously specified apartments. Buzon UK were specified to install the PB pedestal system to support two large (220sqm and 180sqm) hardwood decked outdoor terrace areas. This project was particularly challenging due to the many curved planters, upstands, steps and seating areas but the PB pedestal range can be adjusted from 28 to 965mm to create different height levels and the ergonomic design makes it easy for accurate and effective installation. The finished private roof terraces provide residents with the perfect outdoor space.

Sitting opposite the former BBC Television Centre and adjacent to Westfield Shopping Centre, this exciting new development includes 10.4 acres of open space in the form of a new public park for White City, 1500 new homes including affordable housing and commercial premises. Buzon UK were specified to install the Buzon DPH pedestal system under a large area of timber tiered seating, creating the perfect space for the local community to enjoy. Buzon pedestals were also used in the construction of various external stage decks, bench seating and large terraces within the commercial area of the development.

Eagle House is a leisure development consisting of 84 modern 1 & 2 bedroom apartments at the Lexicon in Bracknell. This 4,500m² redevelopment is part of the Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, costing £240 million to construct this leisure development, including shops, bars, restaurants and leisure facilities.Cellecta DECKfon 26T was used in this development as the ideal acoustic overlay treatment to improve the performance of the original structural timber decked floor. The tongue and grove edge detail make it quicker and easy to install, saving time and money.Thomas Homes was awarded the contract to redevelop this leisure development within the ring in Bracknell.

The development of 33 King William Street provides 227,000 sq ft of stunning office space and a quarter acre roof top garden. Buzon UK were specified to install the Buzon pedestal system to support Iroko timber decking and a large area of paving to the spacious roof terrace creating a fantastic relaxation space for the office occupants to enjoy. Buzon pedestals are seriously strong, simple to install and are capable of supporting loads of more than 1000kg per pedestal so were the perfect choice of raised floor support system for this complex exterior terrace of contrasting materials.

When The Oval cricket ground recently underwent a major extension, Bostik was on hand to provide subfloor preparation products and technical advice to ensure the flooring couldbe installed to the highest possible standard in time fora high-profile event.The iconic south-London venue is home to Surrey County Cricket Club and frequently hosts international matches and tournaments. The Oval was seeking to add two new upper-tier decks that would increase its capacity by 4,000 seats, as well as a new hospitality area including lounges, a roof terrace,a retail space, a new ticket office and more.

Our client designed and built a spectacular contemporary new home. He decided to include a sauna to complement his level deck central bathtub in the master bathroom. The brief was to create a light modern cabin with clean low iron glazing to the main facia. The space allocated was wide but shallow and the challenge was to achieve a cabin which appeared spacious and comfortable for the two occupants to enjoy together. We chose a free standing, multi- climate heater around which carefully designed bespoke benching was constructed in smooth blond Aspen to match the deep horizontal wall boards.

Battersea Power Station is one of London’s most iconic buildings and remains one of the city’s best known landmarks. A vibrant new community is being created offering the best retail, office, leisure and green space plus unique homes designed by internationally renowned architects, Foster + Partners and Gehry Partners. Working with Maylim, the Buzon pedestal systems have been specified for a multitude of areas across this 39-acre site, for use with timber decking, planter units, seating units, paving and grating. IKOpro Acrylic Roof Coat has been used to provide a quick (taking only 4 days to complete) and seamless waterproof solution to a leaking roof at Bellman’s Auctioneers & Valuers in West Sussex. Contracts Manager for M Holmes Construction (contractor) admits that it was much less labour intensive than traditional roof refurbishments. He said, “The beauty of this system is that you don’t have to re deck the roof, unlike some alternative liquid systems. A disused rooftop was earmarked for conversion into an outdoor eating and leisure area for staff. Wallbarn’s unique iDecking system was chosen to deck the terrace. Comprising of nine shops and several residential flats, properties 29-47 High Street Polegate required a full roof refurbishment after complaints of water ingress into the residential buildings. Proteus Waterproofing conducted a thorough survey which revealed that the existing roof build up, made up of a timber deck and 2-layer felt, had been previously repaired but was now at the end of its serviceable life.Being a residential building with a combustible deck, protecting individual properties from internal fire spread was a key consideration. Compartment walls were identified allowing Proteus Waterproofing to provide a solution that would meet regulatory guidance relating to the junction of compartment walls and roofs in Approved Document B whilst meeting the needs of the client.Proteus Waterproofing specified their robust reinforced bitumen membrane range of Proteus Pro-Felt®, including a bespoke hybrid insulation approach, where instead of a full replacement consisting of entirely non-combustible insulation, a scheme was designed to meet the requirements above and either side of the compartment walls, offering the client the most cost-effective solution possible that would also mitigate any unnecessary increase of weight loading elsewhere on the roof.High Performance WaterproofingThe waterproofing and existing deck were stripped back and re- decked with 18mm plywood. When removing the existing waterproofing, our approved contractor, carefully recorded the exact location of the party walls as no drawings of the upper story flats were available.Proteus Pro-Felt® SA AVCL was used as a vapour control layer to allow for the application of the hybrid combination of 150mm Proteus Pro-Therm PIR insulation and 150mm Proteus Pro-Therm Mineral Wool insulation. A thermal calculation was undertaken to ensure that the final result met the requirements of Part L of the National Building Regulations. These were both adhered with Proteus Pro-Bond Foaming Adhesive. Over 100,000 Ancon Rebar Couplers were used to support the concrete of one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in the world. Reinforcing bars which strengthen the concrete deck, towers and end piers had to be reliably, mechanically connected end to end throughout the structure. To perform this hidden, but vital structural task, Bartec Plus Parallel Threaded Couplers were selected from the comprehensive Ancon range. Various types and sizes, to match rebar diameters from 12-40mm, were supplied, with the three largest sizes being used to join reinforcement running the full height of the three 680ft support towers.

Stopgap 700 flexible smoothing underlayment and Styccobond F41 carpet tile tackifier have been used in the refurbishment of a thirty-year-old Routemaster bus to create a library for children at Tolworth Nursery. On the top deck of the bus, Stopgap 700 flexible smoothing underlayment was applied over a firmly secured plywood subfloor. On both floors, Styccobond F41 carpet tile tackifier was used to install premium fibre-bonded carpet tiles. Styccobond F66 solvent-free contact adhesive was used to install carpet tiles on the bus’s staircase. Stycco Flex, a rapid-curing flexible adhesive, was then used to attach the aluminium stair nosings.

One Tower Bridge is a mixed-use development by Berkeley Homes. A total of nine blocks make up the development, containing 396 residential units, commercial and cultural spaces, a single storey basement area and a 20 storey residential tower block with roof top area. Buzon UK were commissioned by Maylim to supply DPH5 and BC5 adjustable pedestals, which were used across the entire project to support numerous decking areas, fencing, step and riser units and a wide range of bespoke seating. The random shaped pavers required a complex spacer tab layout, achieved effortlessly with the unique BC System.

The scheme includes infilling one third of Alexandra Dock with 780,000 m3 of material and reclaiming 7.5 ha of the river to create a new 650m quay wall, which can accommodate three offshore wind installation vessels.Construction will also involve dredging a new berth pocket, completion of earthworks and surfacing, building internal access roads and service networks, construction of a new Roll-on / Roll-off ramp and demolition of some existing buildings.Our Hody system was used in the 3 Primary Substations on the site to create the first floor decks of the steel framed buildings within the Alexandra Dock project.

Degaflex Fire Rated Roofing system providing a watertight finish, either smooth or textured. This installation was required to overcome a long standing issue with water ingress / leaking through the roof.The building was an outhouse in Snodland, Kent. The roof had been leaking for some time, Degaflex was installed onto a felt substrate by London GRP Roofing Ltd.Stephen Knuckey, the Director of London GRP Roofing Ltd. posted on LinkedIn ‘Our #Degaflex overlay. Safe to say I’m extremely pleased with the finish on this. Being a felt overlay and turning out this smooth, I’ll be looking forward to applying it directly to an OSB deck.’

Stretto-11 grating has been incorporated into the facade at Here East, the former Olympic Broadcast Centre. Soffit and cladding panels made from Stretto-11 have been used around the central entrances of the 280-metre length of the building and within the recessed openings. The contemporary exterior, featuring a glass frontage with digitally printed ceramic frit, is punctuated by nine projecting and three recessed balconies. These break up the colossal scale of the building and introduce an intense orange accent. Lang+Fulton also supplied decking for the projecting balconies made from PL-66×11 pressure locked heel-proof grating.

The 2,500m2 basement extends beyond the property where a blue-green roof will be created over a suspended podium deck to form part of the garden. The Triton team worked closely with waterproofing and blue-green roof design specialists, EPG, to create a waterproofing strategy and utilised a comprehensive Construction Quality Assurance protocol agreed between Triton and EPG. The Triton team had been called in by main contractor, Era Build Ltd, to replace a previous supplier who had been unable to provide a warranty. After detailing was complete; Triton Approved Contractor, Cast Contracting Ltd (CCL), installed the systems.

More than 3,500 square metres of façade panels protect travellers from wind and rain in a new car park at Milton Keynes Central Station. Round, laser-cut perforations let in light and ventilation to car park decks, while solid and mesh panels complete a design that is both practical and visually striking.“The façade definitely met the design (brief); maybe even more. The client was impressed and so were we,” said Goldbeck project manager Stanislav Stanchev. “But apart from the finished product, I was most impressed with the Maple teams onsite. Communication was good too; everything I needed was answered very quickly.”

Neaco have supplied a contemporary balustrade specification for a 60-bed residential care home in Barrow. The £7m Parkview Gardens care home has replaced four older Cumbria Care homes as part of a wider modernisation programme of care for older people in the Barrow area. Architects Alston Murphy Associates specified Neaco’s powder coated aluminium balustrade with glass infill panel. The building was designed to provide outdoor space on every floor, including first floor terraces featuring Neaco’s glazed balustrade installed to an extended height to provide additional safety. The terraces also include Neaco’s Techdek aluminium grilles as terrace decking.
