Thehome is specially equipped with 63 en-suite rooms and adedicated dementia area, with 26 rooms for residents whorequire specialist support.Royal Star & Garter’s aim was to make sure that every roomwas specially equipped to suit the individual resident’s needs.Therefore, the access control solution had to reflect thisethos. With this in mind, Allgood Tio supplied and installedan advanced access control package, containing proximityreaders, proximity lever handle sets, safety sensors andautomatic door operators.Allgood Trio worked with Scurr & Partners Architects toprovide a low key, yet highly secure access control package,that allows staff to control the access given to residents,without causing any disturbance or confusion. This met RoyalStar & Garter’s idealogy of having a secure building, whilstmaintaining it’s homelike and comfy atmosphere.Royal Star & Garter’s dedicated dementia area required anaccess control package that kept within the main interiortheme, that used contrasting colours to help residentsnavigate their way round the building. Allgood Trio wereespecially asked to provide a practical and aestheticallypleasing lever handle set, that would suit this contrast,whilst maintaining it’s homelike atmosphere. Taking this intoconsideration, we supplied our Salto lever handle set with41020 FSB lever handles; combining Salto’s efficient softwarealongside FSB’s ergonomic lever handles, in a polished brassfinish.

Superdry’s new flagship store in Oxford Street London, is a 29,000 square foot UK hub for shopping, wholesale, and brand ambassadors. We had the pleasure of working with the team at Technical Signs where together we designed and manufactured a bespoke pull door handle that fitted Superdry’s criteria and specification, encompassing their brand and values whilst also remaining practical.Bespoke 2.5M full height antique brass pull handles with the Superdry logo engraved were the final product which were hand crafted for the all of the exterior doors.

The amazing transformation of a former public toilets into a stunning detached property couldn't get much closer to the coast! Nestled on a cliff edge with stunning views out over the famous World Heritage Site of Charlestown Harbour, 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel Hardware was a must.Throughout the build, the homeowners selected a number of products from our BLU range including the HAB7 Offset Rectangle Pull Handles, HQ4 Stainless Steel Butt Hinges, SST91 Casement Window Stay and the KM060 Mitre Lever Door Handle to provide the style and aesthetics required.As the property owner said, “It was an absolute no-brainer for us to choose blu products to use at our Loo With A View conversion! The handles, hinges and other hardware are of the highest quality, in addition to the fact that they look stunning, with their sleek lines and elegant finish.“We wanted to use products that wouldn’t rust, and wouldn’t need to be replaced in a few months, or even years down the line, and we have great faith that we have made the right decision!”

GEC Anderson's Decimetric range of stainless steel worktops, sinks, base cabinets and wall cabinets were the preferred choice of architects Curl La Tourelle in the 1.8m sports hall project at St Michael's RC High at Garston, Hertfordshire.The specialist sinks, base units and wall cabinets were used in fitting out the new First Aid Room and P.E Staff Office. The MFU1200 door hardware was used for a walk-in closet door in the entrance area of a private residence. The goal of the product was to create a hidden door.In this article, the benefits and objectives of this product will be explored. However, the MFU1200 allows the door to slide open laterally, maximising the space available in the closet.Maximum 70kg for heavy doorsThe door used in this project has a door height of 2700 mm, a door width of 1200 mm, a load capacity of up to 70 kg and has passed 100,000 open-close tests*, making it suitable for marble doors such as those used in this mansion.In addition, the sliding mechanism is equipped with dual dampers. Facade systems from Technal helped the University of Leeds to set a new benchmark for student accommodation in the city. More than 3,00sqm of Technal glazing systems for the Charles Morris Halls were fabricated and installed, and the £21m student halls of residence comprises of two half-hexagon buildings sited around a central landscaped courtyard, providing 457 hotel-style study bedrooms.The challenging glazing specification involved the construction of large oriel glazing bays that project 300mm in front of the cladding, and contrasting projecting bays to the corners of the two buildings. The oriel bays provide a different architectural feature and an alternative to more conventional recessed panels of glazing. The floor to ceiling glazed units, which maximise natural light were constructed using aluminium curtain walling inset with top-hung casement windows. These were fabricated and installed into the bays in more than 30 different sizes to create a less regimented appearance for the building envelope. Laminated glass with coloured interlayers adds further interest to each facade - in panels of green where the glazing is set into red brickwork on the external elevations and orange for the courtyard elevations to complement the cream-coloured brick cladding. Long runs of curtain walling using 1500mm modules enclose the common room and the link bridge between the two accommodation blocks. The window units in the common room are linked to the air conditioning system, which allows them to open automatically according to CO2 levels. All other opening units on this scheme are operated by low-level levers to allow anyone, regardless of any disability to open the windows.

This contemporary office washroom and changing area features innovative materials and bespoke accessories combining to create a unique space. Washroom's full height Alto toilet cubicles, faced in Formica F6209 Prestige Walnut Laminate, were finished with bespoke architectural pull handles in stainless-steel plus thumbturn mortice locks in the same finish. The shower and changing areas were fitted with bespoke Alto cubicles, large enough to accommodate both a shower and dry changing area. Each cubicle door was faced in FENIX NTM matt laminate in blue and completed with architectural door handles, thumbturn mortice locks and stealth self-closing pivot hinges.

Clement was thrilled to be asked to manufacture the new steel windows and doors for this spectacular Arts and Crafts style house in the Hampstead Garden Suburb. The new leaded Brooking windows and W20 steel doors, look just like the originals – perhaps even better! Hampstead handles were chosen for the windows and Kensington handles for the doors. They were all polyester powder painted in RAL 9005 Jet Black to match the frames. Our client is really pleased with the end result and said:“We placed a large order with Clement of double glazed leaded doors and windows. From start to finish we received a first-class service and the product quality and finish is superb.” 

The strong interlocking capabilities of Tobermore’s Toberloc block paving proved to be the ideal solution for Daniel Hurd Associates who required a product that could handle regular pedestrian and vehicular use at this Sainsbury’s branch in Cheltenham.

Completed in November 2014, the Four Seasons Dubaisits beside Jumeirah Beach, just ten minutes fromDubai’s famous commercial district.California based architect WATG worked alongsideinterior designer BAMO to create a resort heavilyinfluenced by mediterranean architecture and the hotel’sseaside location. For example, the lobby sits underneathan octagonal dome finished with gold leaf that enhancesthe natural light coming through the windows.Each of the 237 guestrooms come with a balcony,offering panoramic views of the sea or the city’sextravagant skyline, punctuated by the world’s tallestbuilding, the Burj Khalifa.The luxury hotel required a tailored package toensure it’s aesthetic flair was complemented bythe door furniture.The intricate detail on the Royal Suite doors wasmatched by custom made lattice pull handles in a pewterfinish (far right image), whilst the rest of the suite andpublic areas were supplied with pull and knob handles ina co-ordinated bronze finish.In contrast, the hotel opted for a polished finish in thepresidential suite, with nickel and stainless steel thepreferred materials. A full spectrum of door furniture wasapplied including lever handles, lock cases and doorclosers, all supplied in the desired polished finish.

Project BackgroundDesigned by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid in 2004, before London won the bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics, the London Aquatics Centre is an indoor facility with two 50-metre (160-foot) swimming pools and a 25-metre (82-foot) diving pool. Its iconic wave-like roof sweeps up from the ground and was inspired by the fluid geometry of water in motion, creating spaces and a surrounding environment in sympathy with the river landscape of the Olympic Park.Project SolutionPowrmatic Wall Opensky louvred ventilators were at the heart of the smoke and natural ventilation system at the London Aquatic centre in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, east London. The ventilation systems were designed and installed by Air Design Systems Ltd.The wall mounted Opensky louvred ventilators are used to provide a high-free area at the back of the stands for heat exhaust and smoke extract. The units were double-stacked and provided with a white polyester powder-coated finish.Air Design Systems Ltd also made provision for the control system that included local control panels, electrical wiring, override switches and full commissioning and demonstration of the system.Project ResultTested for use as smoke ventilators to BS EN 12101-2, Powrmatic’s Opensky ventilators can be roof or wall mounted for exhaust or inlet and can be supplied with a hinged base for use as an access hatch. They have been specifically designed for both smoke and heat exhaust and natural ventilation applications and combine an attractive style with a discreet, low profile.

An urban luxury conversion in the heart of Nottingham City Centre. This project involved the contractor converting a commercial building within a conservation area into luxury apartments.There were various design issues that needed to be overcome, including curved on plan bays. The curved bays required a bay pole system to allow the installer to gain the necessary shape profile.An added challenge was window size. There were a number of large, multi-part windows in apartments accessed via tight staircases and small door openings. To overcome this we made some of the larger units in kit form and sent one of our experienced fabricators to site to assemble them in situ.A key requirement was noise abatement which was achieved with acoustic glazing and an optimal 100mm air gap, adding - on average - 35DB of noise reduction on top of that provided by the primary windows.The end result were minimal profiles matching original sightlines, coupled with significant thermal and acoustic performance improvements. 

For pristine sound, a manufacturer of hi-fi amplifiers relies on air springs from ACE. This effectively eliminates disruptive ambient vibrations that enter the demonstration room from a neighbouring workshop and disturb the listening experience. The PLM-1 air springs, which have a low natural frequency of 3 Hz, are used as a bearing in the hi-fi rack for decoupling. ACE was able to prove the effectiveness measurably with the company's own app VibroChecker PRO. In the meantime, the manufacturer offers the high-end amplifiers optionally with the air springs and the app from ACE to the end customers.

Revolving doors from dormakaba act as a lobby reducing noise, dirt and drafts in Emirates Arena. The KTV automatic revolving door can limit warm air loss and cold air intake – vital on the Velodrome’s exposed site - helping to reduce the building’s energy consumption and costs.

Our year’s of experience in the Ironmongery trade has stood us in good stead, working with Ruddy Joinery and Ballymore (ECCOWorld) we were asked to produce the full Ironmongery Schedule, which included a bespoke handle suite, specifically for this project.

For us, creativity and sustainability in design and architecture are of great importance. We believe more and more people should be aware of the opportunities that new technologies can provide them, so we asked our partners to share more on the role of innovation in the pursuit of sustainable development, and guess what? Our carbon-neutral functional paints make it to the list. A smart home can also help reduce our carbon footprint. This can be done technologically - by integrating a variety of sensors (for indoor air quality, carbon monoxide and dioxide, proper lighting, temperature, etc.), as well as by integrating more innovative interior solutions - the use of carbon-neutral writable whiteboard paints, such with magnetic properties or interior paints that purify the air. One of the last such examples are our carbon neutral functional paints. ESCREO whiteboard paint gives people the chance to optimise unusable surfaces - which are otherwise so attractive, especially for the little ones! The creation of writable whiteboard surfaces frees us from the need to invest in other tools for organisation, planning and drawing, so we reduce our consumption of hard-to-renew resources and those that often cannot even be recycled. Soon we will be taking it to a new level by launching an air purifying paint - ESCREO Clean Air - a non-toxic environmentally friendly interior paint that purifies the air in any room. The ingredient in the paint is an enriched natural mineral that attracts and neutralises harmful air pollutants, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs), odours, airborne chemicals and CO2.

The recently completed architectural façade, designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris May, stands as the newest landmark in the Brentford skyline. Cloaked with an array of carmine, red, grey, and brown perforated triangles, it creates a striking 3D diamond effect on the north, east, and south elevations of the car park.Each panel consists of eight powder-coated triangles, initially assembled into a prism offsite for safe handling. During construction, the onsite team opted for a more efficient approach by constructing the full panel before affixing it to the building's exterior. This tactical shift led to the completion of the façade a week ahead of schedule.Nick Coles, the operations manager at Maple, lauded the development, stating that it exemplifies the company's ethos of thinking smarter, sharper, simpler, and safer.Located on a 12-acre former industrial waterside site, the car park is integral to Ballymore's broader vision for the development of the Brentford neighborhood, known as 'The Brentford Project.' This ambitious scheme encompasses the creation of various residential, retail, and leisure units.This collaboration with Ballymore marks our inaugural project together, adding to our distinguished portfolio of renovated car parks, including the Spitfire-inspired Smithfield MSCP and the award-winning Chester Northgate.

Emrys Architects were appointed by Berners & Wells to design this mixed-use development located north of Oxford Street in central London. The building sits across 2 different streets, the lower two floors accommodate flexible retail and restaurant space and the upper floors high end office space.The building has been designed to respond to the historic Character of the local area, some areas were partially demolished while the Edwardian facade on Wells Street was retained, repaired and extended. Portland stone and teal glazed-brick detail was used to create seven two-storey high arches showcasing the grand entrances to the offices and retail units.The ironmongery brief centred around replicating the arches present in both the external entrances and the courtyard, this distinctive shape was also used in the vision panels on a number of internal doors. To fulfil this brief, we worked closely with the architect to design and manufacture bespoke arched push plates in Flat Matt Black(FMB). Where required these were paired with complimentary D-shaped pull handles and simple accessories finished to match. All other ironmongery was finished in FMB including hinges, door closers, signage and accessories.Photography: Neil Kenyon

Located in Edinburgh’s prestigious Charlotte Square,these former National Trust for Scotland offices havebeen refurbished and redeveloped into commercialaccommodation.Originally designed by Robert Adam in 1791, the restorationof these 6 A-listed townhouses sees the architecturalintegrity of these neo classical facades, fully restored. Aswell as restoring the buildings exterior and interior, MorganMcDonnell Architects have also redeveloped the areabehind these old Georgian houses, linking the 3 centraltownhouses to a contemporary lightweight glass and ETFE(a fluorine based plastic) covered courtyard to provide32,000 ft2 of grade A office space.The balanced contrast between the old exterior andmodern interior is reflected throughout the building’s fabric,especially it’s ironmongery. A traditional oval design wasapproved for the knob handles as it provided the mostgrip available. A polished chrome finish was chosen asMorgan McDonnell Architects wanted a modern feel to thehardware whilst being traditionally sensitive to the age ofthe building. Initially Morgan McDonnell Architects wantedto use lever handles, but due to the listed status of thebuilding and the design of the doors (many of the originaldoors were refurbished) a knob handle was deemed themost suitable.Working with Morgan McDonnell Architects, Allgood Plcprovided a combined ironmongery and access controlpackage that included: hinges, door closers, locks, kickplates, signage and concealed electromagnetic locks. Allitems Allgood provided were delivered on time and withinthe clients budget.

The Vaughan Way development in Leicester features state-of-the-art apartments above a two storey car park. While this gives residents the best of both worlds – city living and parking in a limited footprint – it represents a challenge for developers in the form of thermal bridging.Most car parks feature open walls to allow adequate ventilation of exhaust fumes, so the separating floor must be well insulated to prevent warm air from the flats escaping into the car park below. With this in mind, main contractor Winvic approached Knauf Insulation for advice on the best insulation to specify in order to achieve the specified U-value of 0.2 W/m²K.Knauf Insulation’s Technical Support Team conducted U-value calculations to determine the thickness of Soffit Linerboard required. They then worked closely with Winvic to provide technical advice to ensure all design considerations were addressed.Soffit Linerboard is a robust Rock Mineral Wool slab. It is a high-performance thermal insulation and offers excellent sound absorption to provide high levels of sound reduction; something residents will appreciate when their neighbours are parking below.Soffit Linerboard is also non-combustible, with an A1 Euroclass Reaction to Fire Classification, essential to comply with changes to the building regulations, as Vaughan Way will be more than 18m tall when complete.Soffit Linerboard is one of more than 40 Rock Mineral Wool insulation products produced at Knauf Insulation’s Queensferry plant. It is manufactured with ECOSE® Technology, Knauf Insulation’s unique bio-based binder that contains no added formaldehyde or phenol. It is made from natural raw materials that are rapidly renewable, and is less energy-intensive to manufacture than traditional binder, so it is more environmentally-friendly.Products made with ECOSE® Technology are soft to touch and easy to handle. They generate low levels of dust and VOCs, and have been awarded the Eurofins Gold Certificate for Indoor Air Comfort.The insulation was delivered direct to site by distributors Encon in Nottingham and was installed by sub-contractors L Reynolds.From the additional warmth, to noise reduction and improved safety, adding Soffit Linerboard to the separating floor between the car park and flats will make city living even more pleasant for the residents of Vaughan Way.

May 6th 2023 will see the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. At ASH we also have royal connections and last year completed a project on the historical grounds of Caernarfon Castle in Gwynedd, North Wales. In April we took the opportunity to go and visit the site and it exceeded expectations. They have merged the old with the new in creating a impressive area for visitors to enjoy the views of the grounds. The timber deck area encompasses large bronze sculptors including one of hands cupping coins and the cascade down the timber steps. We manufactured and suppled a bespoke version of our ASH145 pull door handle in Bronze Patina. These handles had a added curve on the bottom end creating a double ski effect mounted on to our bespoke plates which are recessed into the structure of the door. Céline Hallas, a Danish visual storyteller and founder of paint company 'color connaisseur', is quite passionate about hues. Her love of colours is strongly visible in her heritage apartment located in Nyhavn, one of the oldest neighborhoods of Copenhagen.She has transformed the stunning apartment into a symphony of chromatic colours, that despite their boldness works in perfect harmony. This vibrant living space surely makes a strong case for saying 'yes' to more colour. Pieces from iconic Danish designers like Arne Jacobsen and Poul Henningsen plays a reliable supporting role to the bold splashes of colour. For the doors, Céline has chosen the AJ97 lever handle in polished brass from d line. Charles de Gaulle Airport is the largest airport in France and one of the busiest airports in the world. The aim of the project is to extend and modernize the airport facilities to be able to accommodate a larger number of passengers and increase the air traffic to reach the milestone of 80 million passengers per year. Effisus Ecofacade solution was the integrated solution to ensure water and air tightness of façade’s connections in Terminal 2B.

Indoor Climate and air quality control to manufacturing facility

Improved handling efficiency, better utilisation of space and enhanced safety have been achieved by Bott Limited following the installation of a Mezz Lift from Penny Hydraulics to lift loads from ground floor to a mezzanine in the stores at its dedicated commercial vehicle conversion workshop facility.

The museum receives 6.7 million visitors per year, many of whom use the Great Court restaurant. A complete refurbishment of the floor was required to handle this highly trafficked area. Products used: ARDEX PSRS, ARDEX A 35, ARDITEX NA, ARDEX X 77, ARDEX-FLEX FL

Architect/Designer: Chu AssociatesLocation: LondonProject Overview: Complete refurbishment of existing high-end client meeting suite, scope included a complete ironmongery package for all new full height timber & double glazed doors.ServiceFull hardware scheduling & bespoke design service.Project Details3v worked closely with Chu Associates on this project to provide discreet stainless steal ironmongery that enhanced the beautiful full height walnut doors and thin profiles double glazed doors.As well as providing complete hardware scheduling for the whole project we also worked with the team to customise both the size and finish of one of our existing pull handles. These custom made 1800mm straight pull handles with Firenze black leather grip were coordinated well in advance with both the joinery and glazing contractors to add the perfect finish touch to this high-end design scheme.

A recently completed residential complex in the centre of London is where you will find this magnificent building which has been finished to the highest standard. The reception area is welcomed by a circular entrance with a pool of water at the centre. The stone that's been used is a pale cream and the metal work is a light bronze. We provided the pull door handles which complement the colours and materials used. The have been finished in a dark bronze adding a dramatic entrance across the front of the building and on the main entrance. You can find a range of finishes which we offer across a range of products. The front of the building benefits from planted up areas which breaks up the hard lines, this along with the curved stone seated areas creates a pleasant place to sit and sip a coffee. There have also made great use of lighting in the main lobby area and the reception is grand and welcoming. The style of our handles used are Ash 103.

The British museum has seen a number of additions over the years,most recently the £135 million world conservation and exhibitionscentre which was completed in 2014. The brief required a particularfocus on creating an environmentally sustainable building with amodern interior that could hold exhibitions, as the museum did nothave enough space for them.The British Museum was conceived in 1753 after Sir Hans Sloaneexchanged his vast collection of artefacts with King George III for£20,000 to ensure that he left an inheritance for his children. Itopened it’s doors to the public in 1759 and has remained in thesame location in Bloomsbury ever since.The main building exhibits landmark architecture inspired by theGreek Revival. To fit the 19th and 20th century design of the site,the architects Rogers Stirk Harbour worked with Mace group tobuild the new conservation centre using steel frames and Portlandglass and stone, easing the transition between the exterior of themuseum and the new development.With a public building of this magnitude, there is a high amount oftraffic around the building so it was imperative that the ironmongeryperformed to the highest level. For this reason, Allgood suppliedthe highest quality hardware including: triple knuckle hinges, floorspring units and mortice locks. We specified the hinges as they aremade from 316 stainless steel and come with a 25 year guaranteewhilst the other hardware items have a ten year guarantee. We alsosupplied our Modric lever handles on mostof the doors as they aretested to grade 4 against BS EN 1906 and would provide the doorswith the highest quality and most durable handles.As science and research are at the core of the new development,the building needed to be modern, functional and sustainable.We were able to meet the sustainability expectations as all of ourstainless steel door fittings are made from 62% recycled materialsof which 95% can be recycled at the end of the product’s life.Additionally, our packaging is also made from recycled material andcan be recycled once it has been used.The World Conservation and Exhibitions centre has now been openfor 6 months and has further enhanced the British Museum’s statusas a world class institute.
