To coincide with the launch of Morrison’s ‘M Kitchen’ range, a state-of-the-art Taste Kitchen has been constructed at the supermarket’s headquarters in Bradford. An existing kitchen was fully refurbished to create the facility which is used to trial food products for the new range.

A keen cooks kitchen with a large island and the finest Gaggenau ovens form an integral part of this design. The stunning kitchen also incorporated a fabulous dining and living area, which created a wonderfully atmospheric central space.

Tool & Gauge Kitchen is a café and shared kitchen facility located within the new Frome Business Park in Somerset. The team at Interaction has designed a contemporary social space where people can eat, drink and connect, with a modern monochrome design that respects the building’s industrial history. It was important that the flooring offered a practical surface with plenty of character and a sense of intrigue.

The kitchen is regaining its position as the centre of family life. Kitchen designers now create modern shapes and realise innovative functions. However, kitchen planners often lack practical experience with technical innovations, particularly when these innovations are from the field of electrical installation technology.

Living room and kitchen form a single area in many modern homes and often feature open-plan design. People cook where they eat and eat where they live. The owners of the 150 m2 period apartment in Paris had a clear concept: Kitchen should be located close to the living room or, better still, be an integral part of it. To fulfil this wish, Dutch firm i29 interior architects designed a kitchen island that's really a piece of furniture. Unusually high MDF panels pivot easily and slide into the recess thanks to pivot/slide-in hardware HAWA Concepta 50.

An extensive refurbishment to this family home included this beautiful open plan kitchen. The contrasts of the sterling grey, the graphite of the island and the stainless steel of the Gaggenau fridge, freezer and wine climate cabinet compliment each other very well in the light airy room.

Hard wearing luxury vinyl tiles from Polyflor’s Affinity255 PUR collection of high-design wood effect flooring were recently chosen for the refurbishment of Enfields Kitchen, a student run restaurant at Gateshead College. Affinity255 PUR luxury vinyl tiles in the popular Huckleberry Oak design were installed by local flooring contractor Floorstyles-Direct in the restaurant’s dining area. Situated at Gateshead College’s Baltic campus, Enfields Kitchen is a contemporary restaurant where all the food is made and served by students enrolled in the college’s hospitality and catering courses.

Cross contamination is a concern for any food prep area dealing with raw meats. With the help of BioCote Technology (found in BioClad products) restaurants can ensure they uphold the highest level of hygiene within food preparation areas. The antimicrobial technology works 24/7 to eliminate the threat of harmful bacteria such as E.Coli. At the Paris-Le Bourget airport, Air Culinaire Worldwide has just moved into its new kitchen. The kitchen, corridors, locker rooms, preparation rooms (hot and cold) and the storage rooms were fitted with Altro Stronghold 30 on the floor and the Altro Whiterock White on the walls.

Bioethanol fires require no chimney or flue, give off no harmful emissions and are 95% energy efficient. They are available in a large selection of designs for living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms and gardens. A good example is the home of Bury resident Anthony Norman, who chose an Italian kitchen and a British made bedroom from local dealer Icon, both featuring table-top bioethanol fires. Anthony and his family were convinced that they would make exciting additions to their new kitchen and master bedroom. Ebios bioethanol fires are made in Germany and distributed by DRU in the UK.

Monks Lantern is a very upmarket property which was completely refurbished by Royalton Limited with stoneCIRCLE manufacturing and supplying the stone. All floors and staircases were fitted with marble or limestone tiles, the bathrooms were fitted with bookmatched marble panelling and vanity tops, the pool area had limestone tiling, coping and slate tiled walls and the kitchen worksurfaces were a mixture of quartzite and Caesarstone quartz.

International bathroom experts Villeroy & Boch have been commissioned by Hotel La Tour, Birmingham to remodel all of their en-suites and public wash-rooms. Working with pHp Architects and interior design Adrian Coleman, Villeroy & Boch have updated the 4* hotel with sleek wall-hung sanitaryware and contemporary surface mounted basins; choosing pieces from their Loop & Friends, Momento, Squaro and Subway collections. In total 550 pieces were installed, completing 174 bathrooms in the hotel.

Improving hygiene in IWM's kitchens

This study aimed to compare levels of bacterial contamination isolated from surfaces in a busy kitchen situated in a UK care home. The study’s main objective was to compare bacterial contamination on the antimicrobial wall cladding with other surfaces in the kitchen. The care home kitchen had been fitted with BioClad PVC wall cladding at the time of construction in 2011. All walls in the rectangular-shaped room were fitted with BioClad from ceiling to floor. The antimicrobial performance of the wall cladding was to be appraised according to the findings of the study.

As part of the ‘green’ refurbishment of the Accor Vacation Club Apartments, GWA Bathrooms & Kitchens supplied highly-efficient fittings and fixtures to complement the greater environmental awareness of the new design. Improved water conservation was achieved by installing the latest in efficient flush systems and reduced flow tapware in all the bathrooms and kitchens.

Heavy-duty safety flooring with enhanced slip resistance from Polyflor’s Polysafe Apex range was recently installed in the busy commercial kitchen at the Radisson Blu Hotel Athlone in Co. Westmeath, Republic of Ireland. Polysafe Apex vinyl safety flooring in the Chromite shade was chosen for a 450m² kitchen area which caters round the clock for guests at the 4 star rated, 128 room hotel by the River Shannon. Purchased from Provincial Floorcoverings Ltd, the flooring was fitted by MJ Flooring Contractors in Athlone in four sections to minimise disruption to the daily operation of the kitchen.

This SieMatic S2 kitchen sits in a recently remodelled contemporary home. The large extension gives an abundance of light to the open plan living area whilst the kitchen occupies part of the original structure. Using a mixture of graphite grey high gloss and titan pine laminate cabinets, Glacier White Corian work surfaces help to balance the darker area with the new bright living space. The result is a surprisingly light and airy kitchen set around a large, dominant central island with seating on one side. The use of Miele appliances and a downdraft extractor finishes off this room well.

A new, pitched roof extension to a private residence in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex now incorporates a stylish, modern kitchen and a family dining area complete with a lovely garden aspect. The installation of an impactful and contemporary Pitchglaze roof window from Glazing Vision, has enhanced the quality of light in the kitchen and provided for spectacular sky-only views.

Our antimicrobial wall cladding was specified for the multi-million-pound project to develop four commercial kitchens at SW19 to serve the thousands of guests, players, and VIPs who attend The Championships each year. Working alongside a number of contractors, we were heavily involved in the refurbishment of the kitchen and food preparation areas, where over 1000m2 of cladding was installed in Spring of this year.

In this City Penthouse Apartment designed by Doone Silver Kerr architects, our bulthaup b3 kitchen includes a combination of both alpine white and flint matt lacquer furniture. Worktops are 10mm thick composite stone and the 90mm bartop is Alpine White laminate. The kitchen is open to the living space but tucked neatly below the skylight to the rear of the space. This project was part of a total renovation of an existing property, with the kitchen being part of a new, contemporary extension created in the old garage. A large open kitchen with lots of storage and a work/prep area suitable for a client who needed two sinks, ovens and dishwasher. Not only practical for day to day use, but also stylish and part of a larger open plan living space.

Following Ryebrook Resins’s successful installation at the London St Pancras Grand Champagne Bar, Searcys who operate on the top 3 floors of The Gherkin building contacted us once more to install our Ryeflor RT liquid polyurethane based floor finish to their 140m2, 39th floor restaurant kitchen in a dark grey colour. This rapid curing environmentally friendly finish is ideal for operational kitchens where down time is at a premium.

A range of acoustic ceiling products from Knauf are controlling noise in new classrooms, corridors, halls and kitchens of the St Richard Reynolds Catholic College in Twickenham.

The bulthaup b3 kitchen in this Chelsea Town House blends anodised aluminium units in sand beige for the base cabinets with rough-sawn oak, white stained tall cabinets to give a warm, calm aesthetic. The kitchen opens to a dining living space which leads on to the garden via glazed sliding doors. Worktops are composite stone and the appliances are by Gaggenau. 9 of Howe Green’s 5000 Series floor access covers were specified for Hotel Du Vin’s French Bistro in Cambridge, the 9th in its UK chain and the first with an open view style kitchen. The requirement was for an access solution that would ensure that essential services were hidden from public view but that they could be easily and quickly accessed for maintenance or repairs. The 5000 Series blend seamlessly with the flooring and are perfectly flush with their surrounding helping to prevent any slips or trips, ideal for a busy kitchen.
