This was a major refurbishment and landscaping project for an office development in the City of London. A podium deck had been re-waterproofed and the area landscaped, by contractor Scotscape, with a mixture of hard surfaces, grass lawns, planters and borders. Wallbarn has a very wide range of pedestals for a variety of applications. So we were able to supply exactly the right pad to best support the 6 x 2” joists the landscaping contractor needed to hold their decking boards. The timber joists were fixed into a frame and rigid insulation placed into the cavities between the beams.

Chippenham Pit Stop is a family-run motorway service station on the M4, incorporating offices and modern meeting facilities. In order to complete the redevelopments, the site required a modern-design led carpet tile that needed to be fit for heavy contract use. Heckmondwike supplied its Odyssey commercial carpet tiles, which provide a uniquely creative finish to any development. Perfect for architects, developers and designers, Odyssey is a distinctive fibre-bonded carpet tile that delivers both style and substance. It can also be paired with Supacord for break-out areas.

St Vincent’s is a day centre and hostel, and Head Office of ‘The Passage’, London’s largest voluntary resource centre for homeless and vulnerable people. Established in 1980, The Passage provides resources which encourage, inspire and challenge homeless people to make lasting and long-term changes to their lives. Since its inception, The Passage has helped over 100,000 people in crisis. Officially opened in May 2016 by The Duke of Cambridge, St Vincent’s Centre has been recently refurbished providing an uplifting environment in which to help people transform their lives.

The high performance attributes of Johnstone’s Trade’s products have helped to deliver an unbeatable finish for new state-of-the-art police training facilities. Johnstone’s Acrylic Durable Matt was used to provide the hardwearing finish required in the office areas, while Johnstone’s Acrylic Eggshell was applied in the staff shower areas as it is resistant to condensation.The floor of the impressive ballistics training area was painted with Johnstone’s Two Pack Epoxy Water Based Floor Paint. Johnstone’s Two Pack Anti-Graffiti Finish was applied to the concrete interior walls of the custody cells.

When it came to Ty Oriel (‘Gallery House’ in Welsh), the brief was ambitious. Architects Nic Downs and Carolyn Merrifield wanted something sleek but striking. Eco-friendly, but instantly classic. A family home that was angular and modern, but that could simultaneously blend with its more conservative suburban surroundings. And they were that demanding for a very good reason. The house wasn’t just for anyone. It was theirs. Clean and minimalistic, the resulting build is stylishly open-plan, incorporating an office and an art studio as well as four bedrooms, all south-facing to maximise natural light.

Ogilvy & Mather UK is a global advertising & marketing agency based in London. They offer integrated marketing solutions with a focus on measurable results. For their offices at Sea Containers House, extending over several floors, the project included high quality filtered drinking water systems for staff and visitor refreshment. The highly respected facilities manager Anabas said that they regard the product as very best quality and reliable with an excellent service package as back up. In addition, they said, the Billi engineers are professional, friendly and carried out the installation and commissioning efficiently and on time.

In March 2017, Perkins+Will relocated to The White Chapel Building in Aldgate. The new office space is an exemplar of workplace design as well as showcase for firm’s values. Most importantly, their aim to be LEED Gold and one of the first Fitwel certified projects in Europe, this project had very specific requirements:to create a flexible space that allows for agile working, collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst the staff. The company approached Billi UK with a clear objective:an energy-efficient boiling, chilled and sparkling system with a sleek design to match their contemporary break out areas.

Pioneer Square is a mixed use retail and leisure development in the the heart of Bicester in Oxfordshire, anchored by a Sainsbury’s superstore and including a 7-screen cinema, offices, library and hotel.As a regeneration project within the city centre, it included a 526 space car park over two levels. Lang+Fulton supplied 134 panels of Terra-34 open mesh grating to act as a security barrier over an area of 1010m2. In addition, 85 panels of Italia-100 louvres in various dimensions were supplied to cover an area of 231m2 which required visual screening.

A landmark in the regeneration of Spitalfields,The Steward Building is situated within the historically and architecturally interesting Artillery Passage Conservation Area.The site required the highest quality stainless steel louvre as a street front cladding, providing ventilation and visual screening, on two elevations of a prime office development.The design, which was developed by Lang+Fulton, featured recessed supports for the panels and incorporated a sliding door with concealed gate hardware to achieve a seamless aesthetic.The louvred panels were made from DeltaBox/SS-90 a pressure locked stainless steel product.

The stunning and historic Royal Opera House has become a popular attraction for opera lovers wanting to experience world-class performances. It underwent a major refurbishment by Architecture office Stanton Williams, who unveiled their plans to upgrade the entrances and public spaces. We worked with the architects and recommended the use of our flagship INTRAflex XT Entrance Matting to help trap the dirt and maintain the internal aesthetics of the building. The unique Entrance Matting which is cut into the stone at the iconic Royal Opera House not only enhance the reception but also prevents slips and trips.

Nestled between listed buildings in the heart of London with views over St Paul’s, this 108,000 sq ft cutting-edge office building was designed for maximum sustainability. In designing the building, PLP Architecture was mindful that their spatial and material approach should also be directly informed by these prestigious adjacencies. With sustainability and heritage at the forefront of the design, we worked with Aedas Architects, to specify INTRAform Double Module Entrance Matting with a bronze anodised finish and anthracite fibre insert for the 10,000 sq ft grand entrance. Crown House is a change of use project from an old 1960s office block into modern student accommodation and highlights the opportunity to repair and refurbish concrete structures to provide much needed housing for local communities. The refurbishment and repair approach is of course, significantly greener than a complete demolition and rebuild, particularly in a busy town location such as Brighton. The concrete surveys found issues with the underlining substrate, including carbonation, so the project required a specification which would ensure protection of the concrete, in addition to a pleasing aesthetic finish for the client and student residents of the new block.

The Science Village at Chesterford Research Park is a thriving scientific community, home to ultra-modern and energy-efficient laboratory and office space within the attractive setting of open parkland, an arboretum and lakes.Vehicular circulation, parking and pedestrian circulation were important to the scheme and formed the main body of the external works.The architect Davis Landscape Architecture selected a number of Marshalls’ flag and block paving products for the scheme - Saxon and Keyblok.The hard landscaping perfectly complements the state-of the- art facilities but doesn’t detract from the beauty of the landscape with a carefully selected palette of materials and colours.

BP's progressive new workplace features a creative combination of carpet four Milliken design collections to creative impact and visually zone the building. Beyond zoning, the stunning colour specification, effective use of colours transitions, mix of square and plank tile formats and installation as rug insets, make this a truly inspiration office environment. Metal Technology products have been used to give a stunning facelift to an office building on London’s Edgeware Road. The refurbishment design by Architects AWW (Atkins Walters Webster) specified a high performance façade system engineered to reduce air leakage and exceed current insulation values. Commenting on the scheme, project architect Mark Alker Stone said: “AWW is refurbishing this prominent building to provide a contemporary building as a new landmark within Colindale that benefits the local area in terms of its architectural quality, energy performance and contribution to Edgware Road.”

Schlüter-Systems provided a variety of trims and movement joints to ensure a damage-free finish for the tiled walls and floors of high-end residential project, Landmark Place. The 280,193sq ft Barratt Homes development has an enviable position on the north bank of the River Thames, near the iconic Tower Bridge, and boasts 165 one-bed suites, one, two and three bed apartments and penthouses across 10 storeys. It replaces Sugar Quay, a 1970s office building built for Tate and Lyle, which was purchased by CPC Group back in 2012.

The vibrant city of Amsterdam has a stunning new architectural highlight. Discover De Boelelaan, a modern building containing both residential and office space. The feature that really sets it apart is a magnificent rooftop garden. Safety barriers are an essential feature. Q-railing’s Easy Glass Pro glass balustrade system offers maximum transparency with the highest standards of safety. In this case, the balustrade is frameless, with a minimalist U-shaped stainless steel Q-railing profile on top. The 245 metres of glass railing also provide a useful wind break.

Burberry has opened a new flagship store in Shanghai, China. Its eighth location in the city and the largest so far.The new store was inspired by 121 Regent Street, the brand’s global flagship store and is all about bringing London to Shanghai. That means driving home the brand's heritage through British-made décor, craftsmanship and materials while matching the Regent Street location.The space reflects the architectural design concept developed by Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey.Albion Stone supplied Basebed blocks to EDM for the internal and external clad

Located inside in Reading, Fora have opened their first flexible workspace outside of London. Planet worked with ISG and Piercy & Co on the internal glazing requirements for the new location. Planet’s LOFT54 partitioning was specified for the rentable meeting rooms and offices. The demountable partitioning was paired with Planet’s IsoTec doorsets which are a perfect aesthetic match for the LOFT system. LOFT100 was used for the first and second floor meeting rooms, due to its excellent acoustic ratings. The glazing consists of two layers of glass, 12.8mm and 14.8mm, which combined reached a 54dB Rw rating.

Much of it built in the early 20th century, Islington Square is the transformation of the Royal Mail’s North London Mail Centre. The 4.5 acre complex features a breathtaking development characterised by three statement residential buildings. Islington Square is a love letter to the original great post office buildings.With debonair charm and à la mode finishes within each of the apartments, new life has been breathed into this Edwardian-meets-21st-century development. Majestic were invited to supply Ponente and Rio screens as well as fully recessed Odessa sliding doors.

Gateway 12 is multi-million pound industrial development on a c.16-acre site located three miles to the South West of Gloucester, adjacent to the A38 dual carriageway and just one mile form Junction 12 of the M5.For the main structure of the buildings Trisobuild® R32 was used for the roof and Trisobuild® C32 was installed vertically on the walls; Trisobuild® HR50 was used horizontally at the higher level for the soffits in Merlin Grey. The offices area wall elevations were constructed using Trimapanel® insulated panel system.

Brookfield is a recent acquisition that the University of Leicester is developing to offer supplementary and upgraded teaching facilities and office accommodation for support staff. When selecting seating for the scheme, landscape architects Barry Chinn Associates truly embraced the modular concept of RailRoad, so much so that the setting out of the perimeter planting beds was dictated by the seating sizes. Three separate seats were supplied, each comprising different radii modules that introduce a refreshing informality to the courtyard. The seating is further enhanced by the addition and informal placement of backrests, armrests and tablet surfaces.

The project for the offices is positioned at one corner of the existing production building. For acoustic reasons, the volume is detached and surrounded by gardens and planted facades.For the façade and to mark the identity of the brand, 3dny Studio got inspired by the relation with the fashion industry of the company using leather jackets fringes as reference.Behind this curtain facade, the volume is fully glassed. Our B-Box roller shades are used to protect the large openings over the triple height of the hall. In association with a Polyscreen ® 351 in White color, it maintains comfort and views and become part of the graphic façade.

Over 10,000 square metres of the Thermo Ash 'hidden-fix' system were supplied for various external areas on the Turbine Halls of the iconic Battersea Power Station including the private roof terraces and balconies of the sky villas on the roof of the building, and roof terraces of the commercial office spaces.The use of the Grad system not only created stunning areas, but contributed to significant savings on the labour cost of installation.The installation of Thermo Ash used Grad aluminium rails with factory-placed clips for perfect alignment, placed on Buzon UK's PB range of pedestals where required.  

HAUSER is a traditional supplier of turnkey refrigeration systems, for example in the form of refrigerated shelves, counters and freezer cabinets. Besides its headquarters inLinz, Austria, the company also operates a plant in Budweis, Czech Republic. An office building was equipped with ceiling and floor systems from Lindner. In cooperation with the local partner Konstruktis Delta s. r. o., Lindner Plafotherm® DS 320 Type 1 metal ceilings with integrated heating and cooling functions were supplied. With regard to the floor systems, LIGNA and NORTEC raised floors were used.

The Assembly Rooms is a new office block development on a site of a former 1870’s cinema situated on Werter Road, just off Putney High Street.Living Concrete team used an innovative concrete application technique to create ultra-sleek custom-built reception desk for Morgan Cox at Assembly Rooms. A special mix of spray concrete in Mist colour was applied onsite to MDF frame, seamlessly achieving a very complex and detailed design.In addition two large planter units with sitting benches were constructed and finished in the same style.

The Monmouthshire Building Society (MBS) is a leading financial services provider, that wanted to create a unique and welcoming office space in an historic building in Cardiff that they had recently acquired. High on the specification agenda was the need for extremely high quality, fit for purpose floorings and accessories. These would be supplied by Gerflor, the international flooring specialists and Gradus, a leading UK manufacturer of Flooring Accessories.The world class products specified as part of this iconic refurbishment included Creation LVT, Tarasafe Vinyl Floorcoverings, & for the complete package Gradus Stair Edgings, Floor Trims and Boulevard 1500 Barrier Matting.

Over the past two years, The Pattern Shop has undergone meticulous restoration to provide stunning and sustainable office space. The structure of the building provides more than 3,000 square metres of adaptable office space with southerly views across the River Tyne.We have been working alongside Workwell Furniture to manufacture and install Heated Z Lockers for users to store personal belongings and allow commuters to dry damp garments.Throughout this project, our team provided and installed 6 heated Z lockers to accommodate 12 users. Z-shaped lockers are an excellent choice if space optimization is key to your design. These lockers have a small footprint but maximised internal space. They can comfortably hold large personal items as well as hanging items just as clothes. The specifications of the Z Lockers were 1775mm high, 350mm wide and 450mm deep with perforation, to allow the air to flow around the lockers.The stunning Z Lockers were manufactured with an aluminium carcass, and stainless steel frame, suitable for environments with high humidity. The laminate was in beautiful ‘Pleated Teak’ from the Helmsman laminate colour chart. The carcasses of the lockers were powder coated in the Helmsman metal colour range ‘Smoke’, to create an aesthetic locker. Project detailsDerby City Council’s new Innovation Centre is at the heart of Infinity Park, Derby’s new 250-acre commercial and technology park.Designed to embrace the characteristics of transport engineering, the centre will play a vital role in supporting companies in the aerospace, automotive and transport industries by helping existing companies to grow and new ones to develop. Project overviewThe Innovation Centre demonstrates its environmental credentials through a number of sustainable features to reduce the carbon footprint. These include GDL natural ventilation products to help provide efficient heating and cooling.GDL worked in conjunction with Derry Ltd to provide and install Intelivent Wall Units and Penthouse Turrets.Designed to meet the ventilation demand of the occupied spaces, our in-house design team assisted making the correct system choices. Our Intelivent products are particularly effective in offices, seminar rooms & workshops where occupancy levels vary throughout the day and a controlled ventilation rate is required.Benefits of using GDL Products on the projectThe Wall Units allow a controlled environment by allowing natural fresh air to enter the building via external weather louvres. The £44m state of the art Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC) brings together world-leading expertise in brain mapping with the very latest in brain imaging and brain stimulation. This multi award-winning project is home to the Clinical Research Facility and is part of Cardiff University’s Maindy Park site.The new building is four times larger than the old facility, meaning staff from different departments now benefit from being housed under one roof, allowing for increased collaboration and innovation. Research carried out at the centre aims to help scientists understand the causes and find treatments for brain changes that lead to disordered cognition and mental health issues.This hub offers a range of facilities including an NHS standard medical suite with drug trial unit, specialist scanning suites, laboratories, office accommodation and large seminar facilities within an open-plan environment. For the interior, architects, IBI Group, chose rich materials such as wood, bold colours and geometric shapes which were complimented by Lusso’s glass partitioning. This has created a professional yet welcoming space. In keeping with the design, Lusso 105 double glazed frameless partitions were installed for offices and meeting rooms.  Fitted with interstitial blinds, users can create privacy whenever needed. The use of glazed partitions also makes best use of the natural light and creates an inclusive space. Lusso also installed bespoke high acoustic glazed vision panels with specialist glass for the scanning suites. The overall effect is an inspirational space for research and innovation at an international level.

The JV40Bis office building, located between Calle Josefa Valcárcel and Calle Telémaco in Madrid, features more than 8,700m² distributed across seven floors. Thanks to its architecture comprised of classic lines, this building by the architect Francisco Mangado provides a striking contrast to the glass facades of the adjacent office buildings.The main architectural goal was to create a healthy work environment, prioritizing the well-being of workers in terms of visual, thermal and acoustic comfort. This aim was achieved and the building was awarded LEED Platinum certification, issued by the U.S. Green Building Council. This certification classifies the project as a sustainable, energy-efficient construction with reduced emissions and a satisfactory indoor environment; in this case, this leads to comfortable workspaces.All this is, in part, thanks to the more than 700 Bandalux Premium Plus shades that guarantee optimal solar management given their minimum gap (space between the fabric and bracket). These technical shades integrate well with the restrained, timeless aesthetics of a large, diaphanous space that encompasses work zones, relaxation areas and leisure spaces in which the user adapts solar incidence to the requirements of any given moment.The Polyscreen® 550 fabric in White Linen can block up to 96% of sunlight and it provides the visual and thermal comfort necessary in the workspace. Its high energy performance leads to savings in terms of heating and air conditioning. It is fully recyclable, free from substances that are harmful to health, and it preserves the indoor air quality, having been awarded the Greenguard Gold certification.

Located in Anglesey and operated by Bangor University, Menai Science Park is the flagship building for Wales' first dedicated science park. The facility is built to BREEAM Excellent standards and comprises of 5,000 sqm of offices, laboratories and workshop space for up to 700 people - from start-up businesses to large corporate companies. The building's structure features a striking white continuous flowing ribbon that forms wall, floor and roof surfaces and wraps around the glazed facade to the front elevation. The two-storey entrance connects to the main three-storey, traditional brick cavity U-shape building,m which houses the laboratories and offices and features a facade that encloses an open courtyard. Aluminium curtain walling from Technal was installed and spans 74m x 11m. This had to follow the curvature and flow of the ribbon at the point of fabrication. The key area for this facade is the first floor horizontal and sloping ribbon - the curtain walling continues behind the Corian rainscreen. One particularly challenging detail is the 6m glazed linking walkway that connects the innovation area to the brick-built main building. Designed with a double-pitched roof, the curtain walling follows the long contours across the two pitches of the roof at an angle. This involved calculations and modelling to accommodate the difficult compound angles to ensure the desired architectural intent was achieved. Throughout the building, aluminium casement windows have been installed, some as inserts within the facade including automatic opening vents, and to the courtyard elevations. Completing this contemporary outdoor space, the windows are complemented with timber rainscreen panels.
