At the beginning of 2016, they started a major refurbishment of their head office. With around 700 employees, they were facing an issue how to meet the demand for hot and chilled filtered water across the three floors. A cause of staff frustration can be the inability to get a drink when they want it, and through the unique energy efficiency technology, the Billi Quadra range provides the solution. Following discussions and a site visit, based on the Billi recommendation, mothercare selected the very popular Quadra 460XL boiling and chilled system in chrome with matching drainage font.

Sara Bonfield knew what TK-Team could produce and designed multiple rooms that would have our glass writing surfaces. The room pictured shows a custom glass writing wall in conjunction with twin displays and acoustic wall lining. We produced Glass Writing Boards for many meeting rooms and offices and a stylish Glass WriteWall for the main conference room (pictured). The challenge was to ensure all surfaces were level when finished.The project was completed in co-operation with Forrestfield Studio, and Sara Bonfield.

78/92 Great Portland Street consists of a group of mixed period buildings which is under redevelopment by Great Portland Estates to provide 23,000 sq ft of residential flats, 11,000 sq ft of retail units and 18,000 sq ft of offices at a cost of £19million. Lang+Fulton installed 45.3 linear metres of louvred panels 1100mm high with 3 access doors, galvanized and ppc RAL7038. The louvred panels were inverted to provide maximum visual screening from ground level.

Premier Loft Ladders has helped Horizon Construction provide a safe and convenient access solution to a 1st floor plant room within a premium car showroom. What made this project particularly challenging was the 1.8m deep ceiling void. In addition, the access point was also in a prominent location outside the showroom offices. The building is located on the North side of Chiswell Street adjacent to the Honourable Artillery Grounds in the City of London and offers 31,351 square feet of creative and contemporary grade A office space.The new reception was totally transformed by dropping it down to street level approximately 1m, however to access the 1st floor would only be via staircase.Our distributor Access Lifts contacted Stepless by Guldmann in order to create a solution that would be discreet and designed to blend in seamlessly with the existing setting to maintain an attractive architectural appearance.

Kirkby Stephen Business Park is the brainchild of two local farmers, who pooled their energy, investment and resources to build new, bright, modern units for local businesses. They chose Steeldor for the new office units, balancing the need for security without compromising on looks.The Park, which enjoys wonderful views of the Pennine Hills and surrounding countryside, is close to the centre of the Cumbrian market town. Meeting the design intent, as well as performance requirements, our Polar 54 system was installed. he sightline of the framework is a minimal 32mm, providing a contemporary and discreet narrow-gauged structure, without compromising on strength and performance. The black powder coating on the aluminium trackwork used for this project seamlessly complemented the industrial tones running throughout the space.

It is a 200 Acre development to house almost any media based business along with retail outlets, leisure facilities and office space. It includes BBC, University of Salford and ITV as well as the Oasis Academy. FSi Ltd products were used throughout the various buildings to protect the means of escape and compartmentalisation of the development. This office building was designed as part of the long and large redevelopment saga; Brindleyplace. While the building is a truly modern statement, the anodised frames and fins to the glazing system are not simply powder coated but vary in colour; this gives them a warm and natural appearance, and so reflects the warmth of the brickwork of Brindleyplace’s Victorian buildings. The Reynaers systems used on the façades – a customised solution based on the curtain wall systems CW 50 and CW 60, and CS 68 doors in bronze anodized aluminium – form part of a bespoke curtain wall design.

This £40 million retrofit transformation of Brindley Place, a well-known site in the Westside of Birmingham city centre, raises the bar for sustainability and wellness in an urban regeneration and commercial refurbishment project. The ‘back to frame’ concept combines 10 Brindley Place with the adjoining 8 Brindley Place to create over 200,000 square feet of offices with serviced apartments and one of the largest floorplates in the city. Amenities include an on-site café, fitness facilities, a fitness studio and bouldering wall, storage for 100 cycles, electric vehicle charging points, and two communal roof terraces with impressive views. Associated Architects have created a bold new identity for the site. The façade was completely redesigned using 245,000 locally sourced bricks from a sustainable quarry. Each one was installed by hand to cover an area of 40,000 square feet. The system was constructed off an exterior steel frame consisting of a breather membrane, thermal insulation, fire cavity barriers, and helping hand brackets and rails. Grooves were cut into the bricks before they were slotted into these rails and mortar was then applied to all brick joints.The Leicester Grey Stock, Atlas Dark Grey, and Blue Glazed bricks selected complement each other and create a modern and distinctive aesthetic that responds positively to the renovated building’s Broad Street context. Floor to ceiling windows on the large floorplates complete the design, which blends impeccably with the nearby Metro line and adjacent development. The identity is also carried through to the interior styling. This interior, that boasts a striking double-height reception area, was developed in partnership with Willmott Dixon.In addition to its impressive appearance, the renovated Brindley Place also utilises smart building technologies to provide real-time energy monitoring. The building also has excellent thermal performance, achieved a high WiredScore and an excellent BREEAM rating. Occupier wellness is also at the heart of the new design. Indeed, Brindley Place was the first building in Birmingham to receive a Fitwel accreditation. In summary, this highly acclaimed urban redevelopment has both shifted perceptions of Broad Street as an address and set new standards for the reinvention of office space in the city. It has transformed the site and provides one of the most attractive and well-equipped office buildings in the country. 

44 sash windows renovated at Greenwich flatsKEY FEATURES: COMMERCIAL, DOMESTIC, SASH WINDOWS, LARGE DEVELOPMENT, RENOVATION, VENTROLLA PERIMETER SEALING SYSTEM (VPSS), VICTORIAN.Ventrolla, the sash window renovation specialist, has successfully completed an £80,000 project on 44 residential flats in Greenwich.Ventrolla renovated 44 sash windows over a three month period in order to correct a number of problems with energy retention and ambient noise.The flats were originally part of a Victorian school which was converted 10 years ago. The sash windows, however, were not renovated at the time.Now Ventrolla has refurbished all sash windows at the premises with many of the sash units being totally removed and repaired.Soundproofing was a key factor in the project with residents keen to see the issue of noisy sash windows finally resolved.Ventrolla installed its unique Perimeter Sealing System (VPSS) into the gap surrounding the window sashes, which then eradicates rattles and also reduces draughts and dirt ingress. Martin Northey, Project Surveyor at Collinstown Construction, which oversaw the scheme, said:“This particular project needed to be handled with the utmost of care as the residents were still occupying their homes while work took place.”“To keep things running as smoothly as possible, all communication went through liaison officers who booked appointments with the 44 residents for Ventrolla to work on their sash windows.”“We are extremely pleased with the improvements Ventrolla’s sealing system has made to the performance of the sash windows in the flats. A regeneration development in Vauxhall by the Ballymore Group has seen the biggest transformation story London has ever seen. It has added an entirely new urban quarter to London. The South Bank regeneration stretches from the Shard in the east to Battersea Power station in the west. The area known as Embassy Gardens is at the heart of Nine Elms and includes up to 1.750 new homes and over 20,000sqm of office and flexible workspace spread over 8 building plots covering an impressive 241,548 sqm. RCM’s Y-Wall was used in its construction.

For Bloomberg HQ, Foster + Partners originally approached SAS in 2012. Knowing SAS well, they were seeking a manufacturing and design partner to realise true innovation in product design and engineering. There are many architectural features of note both inside and outside of the building. That said, you immediately notice the ceiling once inside, it is unlike anything seen previously. The Integrated Ceiling Panels combine acoustics, lighting and temperature control. This is a first for the UK and likely globally. Achieving a 98.5% ‘Outstanding’ BREEAM rating, the project is the most sustainable commercial office building in Europe.

No.1 Hardman Street is located at the heart of Spinningfields in Manchester City Centre. This recently completed building provides 5 floors of office space and is a piece of contemporary architecture which sits comfortably alongside both its historic neighbours and the large glazed buildings of this commercial area. Being one of the smaller buildings of the Spinningfields redevelopment, the design seeks to maximise its visual impact and optimise the site. With work complete by Eric Wright Construction in July 2014, and cladding sub-contractor Cover Structure Ltd, the distinctive external materials provide a strong visual identity.

The Jo Coenen Architects Studio chose the technical porcelain stoneware of the Trust line, Titanium colour 30x60 format from the Atlas Concorde range, for the realization in Utrecht of the business centre housing the offices of the Dutch State Railways.Modern and functional, the structure greets the public with extensive spaces enhanced by light filtering in from large windows and carefully designed finishing details. The Trust collection, with its Ecolabel certification and its content of pre-consumer recycled materials, helps achieve LEED points for all designers concerned about the environment and eco-sustainability.

A huge regeneration project site emerged in Croydon which involved the construction of 514 apartments.The whole project covered approximately 34,000 square meters including ground-floor retail and office space.Soundis supplied a Soundis Cradle & Batten system on all 4 tower blocks which make up the 34,000m2 development. This system was installed directly on the concrete subfloor and was chosen due to its acoustic performance incorporating levelling capabilities.The Soundis Cradle & Batten system helps to improve both airborne and impact performance and is compliant with Robust Detail FFT2.

SANDTEX TRADE scaled new heights to revamp a Central London office block – without a ladder in sight. 20 Farringdon Road has been transformed into a contemporary workplace in the heart of the city following a stylish refurbishment project undertaken by specialist abseiling contractors Rubynest. Their specialist ‘working at height’ team worked from temporary cradles to apply the Sandtex Trade trims system to metalwork on the building’s windows. Sandtex Trade Rust Inhibiting Primer Undercoat, Flexible Primer Undercoat and Eggshell X-Tra were used to create the on-trend black finish.

Leading property developer, Related Argent, installs three TopBrewer coffee machines in its new, sustainable London headquartersRelated Argent incorporated biophilia, natural light and sustainable design into their award-winning office that was designed by Basha-Franklin.Two TopBrewer Pro Series and one TopBrewer Compact Series were seamlessly integrated into the modern, stylish space alongside one TopWater machine, offering a full menu of hot and cold beverages."The choice of beverages is essential for inclusivity, and this can be achieved in such a seamless, non-intrusive way with TopBrewer."

St George Wharf consists of 750 apartments and offices, cafés, restaurants, a health and fitness centre as well as an international hotel. The project centres around 5 towers ascending in steps up to the 22nd storey. The top levels, directly under the striking wing-roofs, consist of penthouse suites with sea-green glass facades. Due to the fantastic location of St. George Wharf a complex has been created, which offers a high level of exclusivity, convenience and comfort. JORDAHL® supplied anchor channels JTA for connecting the elements of the glass façade.

2-6 Cannon Street is a high-end new build commercial office building located in the City of London. The Outdoor Deck Company were commissioned by Frosts Landscape Construction to supply and install the GRAD decking and rail systems, which were supported by the Buzon DPH pedestal system. This was a particularly challenging project as powder coated steel planters were strategically located in the middle of the roof terrace so installation had to be carried out around the numerous planters. Timber decked steps and ramps were also part of the overall terrace design.

The Outdoor Deck Company are delighted to have started work at Islington Square. Located in the heart of Islington, Islington Square is set to become one of London’s newest residential neighbourhoods. The former Edwardian Mail Centre and Post Office buildings are being transformed into a selection of apartments, maisonettes and penthouses including high-end retail units and restaurants. The Outdoor Deck Company have been commissioned to supply and install premium grade Ipe timber decking for the eleven Penthouse roof-top gardens, which include `endless` swimming pools and private decked entertaining areas.

The Dolphin Luxury Office Collection was chosen as the centrepiece for this washroom due to its numerous benefits. The prestigious features were able to transform the space to give a luxury feel and the stainless steel fittings could be built to spec without compromising on design to create a quality finish. A selection of products, including our Panel Mounted Infrared Tap and Touch Free Soap Dispenser, were an ideal solution due to the high footfall environment. These products are perfectly suited to organisations wishing to achieve excellent/outstanding/platinum BREEAM, LEED or SKA ratings.

The 80 Charlotte Street buildings were designed by Make Architects. 80 Charlotte Street is the largest building at 323,000 sq ft. The two other buildings total 12,000 sq ft of retail areas and 45,000 sq ft of residential space. The development, which began in 2011, is set to be completed in 2019. Arup is the anchor tenant for the new development and will take approx. 41% of the main building for new office spaces. Effisus Pre-Fab Profiles was used to seal connections on the façade system assuring watertight and airtight façade connections.

Refurbishment of a historic building to form an office complex for Derby City Council. The existing floor was in poor repair and degraded and the architects had restrictions on floor build up. With time being of the essence the main contractor needed a material which could be installed quickly and safely. Gyvlon XTR was chosen for its increased strength, due to the commercial applications (C35/F7). XTR can be laid at 40mm reducing the floor section compared to sand cement screed. 40mm XTR Gyvlon screed resolved all the issues and 11,000m2 was successfully installed to the delight of the main contractor.

A recently completed 90,000 sq.ft office building at Prospero Ansty Park in Coventry is using bespoke designed and manufactured beam casings from the Pendock Linea building linings range, as part of the new structure’s full length glazed atrium.Manufactured from aluminium with a white PPC finish, the casings have a parabolic form and are used to conceal the atrium’s lateral structural supports to provide an aesthetic finish, which is in keeping with the building’s contemporary interior design. Pendock also installed the casings to ensure the final fit & finish met the high standards required.

Shortlisted for the 2020 Architect of the Year Awards organised by Design Build; this internal refurbishment met the Breeam excellent status which we are very happy contributor. John Robertson Architects specified the Laudescher LINEA 4.2.4 which was superbly installed by CIM ltd on behalf of ISG London. Specified and installed by CIM ltd was our Laudescher Linea 4.2.4 (absorption class B, NRC 0.9) in Oak with a Varnished finish. Using the Laudescher system in various areas within the office area will contribute in keeping an area clam whilst ensuring good effective communication.

First fully inspired Cradle to Cradle development in the Netherlands uses Accoya Cladding. The Bosch Siemens HOME (B/S/H) office, called The Inspiration House, is the first building designed for Park 20|20 (the first Cradle to Cradle-inspired full-service development in the Netherlands). The Inspiration House 20|20 was designed by architect William McDonough with Michael Braungart, the founder of the cradle-to-cradle movement. Accoya wood was chosen for the external cladding and windows because it is the only wood product that has achieved the prestigious Cradle to Cradle Gold Certification.

The newly opened £24m Torfaen Learning Zone in Cwmbran is a showcase for AluK’s SL52 capped, mullion drained curtain walling system, complete with punched open-in windows in the thermally efficient AluK 77IWE casement system. Part of the Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools and Education programme, it is the new home of learning for all those aged 16 and over in Cwmbran and caters for 1300 students. It has been built on a brownfield site in the centre of the town and will form part of a wider development, also set to include offices, a hotel and retail and hospitality outlets.

Integrating over two thousand employees from across Dublin into one location, Microsofts new offices take on a human-centric form. Covering 33,000 sq m of floor space the new development connects employees from over seventy two different nationalities. Using both Aluprof MB-SR50N capped curtain wall and MB-SR50N EFEKT capless curtain wall systems the project achieves the architectural performance and aesthetics desired.
