Installed by Breezefree at The Hawk's Nest in London’s Shepherd’s Bush.Working with the team at Birdhouse London, we were presented with the challenge of transforming their outdoor space at The Hawk’s Nest into a flexible all-year space, whatever the weather. Challenges included satisfying the requirements of TfL due to the tube line running immediately above, as well as the venue’s request to have a space to trade in during construction work.The result is a chic hospitality space with a sliding roof that offers options for open airiness or full enclosure from the elements. The roof also offers significant soundproofing, reducing impact on neighbours on their most lively nights. The transformation means that the venue can offer their delicious cocktails, and pizzas that have to be tasted to be believed, underneath an elevated and stylish roof that will help draw diners and revellers for years to come.

Mono M311 Glass Infill Top FixThrough the early design stages of this impressive project, Delta Balustrades worked closely with the Liverpool based architects to develop the specification, design and technical details of the balustrade system.As one of the main features of the building, the Mono balustrade system to stairs, atriums, and external terraces with its minimalistic and subtle appearance, transformed the architect’s vision into reality.To meet requirements for buildings designed for children a lower handrail at 600mm above pitch line was required to the stair balustrades and the glass infill panels were required to extend to 1500mm above FFL and stair pitch line.On site close cooperation with the main contractor was necessary to conceal the baluster fixings below the finished floor level in line with the architect’s specification. Externally, this required an early fix of the balustrades without the glass infills, to enable the contractor to complete the waterproofing in view of subsequent trades progressing.

Portsmouth is home to the Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing America’s Cup sailing team. TAC Projects were employed by the main contractor - Allied Developments - to provide the roofing and cladding works. Cowley Road in Brixton is situated in a vibrant area of London where main contractors, Pinnacle Building Solutions were faced with the task of refurbishing an existing apartment block to a standard that reflected the higher standards of living now demanded in the area.Pinnacle Building Solutions were tasked with reducing not just airborne noise, but impact noise too. This is a classic problem in buildings constructed when building regulations were considerably more lax than today. This problem is compounded by modern tastes having moved away from carpets throughout the living space. Finally, the tight urban site demanded that all trades work together to an equally tight schedule of works.Soundis supplied over 2,850m2 of Acoustic Matting and Underlays. Over 13,000m2 of Trilite GRP triple skin Energysaver factory assembled rooflights were commissioned to bring natural diffused daylight into the enormous new build Range Distribution Centre in Avonmouth. The Range is located within Central Park, one of the most extensive distribution developments in the UK. At 1.2 million sq ft and a cost of £100 million, the Range is the largest distribution warehouse in the region. It has been constructed to respond to changes in consumer shopping habits and will serve to boost the significance of the location as a natural distribution hub.

Simple design and soft light… The Victoria & Albert museum of London, famous for Art and Design, has recently renewed its art gallery and its coffee shop. The challenge of Gareth Hoskins' architects was to bring natural light into this space without damaging the exposed works, drawing 400 years of history. Thus, the architect imagined and created lighting paths and wells of light using Barrisol Lumière® ceiling. Today, the place benefits from a soft and pleasant light. A Barrisol® matt stretched ceiling offers a simple and minimalistic design on the remaining surface.

Superdry’s new flagship store in Oxford Street London, is a 29,000 square foot UK hub for shopping, wholesale, and brand ambassadors. We had the pleasure of working with the team at Technical Signs where together we designed and manufactured a bespoke pull door handle that fitted Superdry’s criteria and specification, encompassing their brand and values whilst also remaining practical.Bespoke 2.5M full height antique brass pull handles with the Superdry logo engraved were the final product which were hand crafted for the all of the exterior doors.

Winner of 2017’s “Best Forecourt Innovation Award”, Abbeyside Service Station's recent renovations included a second storey for café, seating and storage. Maximising shop floor was priority and a Gartec 7000 platform lift with kerb for goods ticked all the boxes. “A platform lift meant much less space was used, but prams and wheelchairs can still get upstairs to the new café easily – and we saved a lot of money. The lift is used daily for stock and does exactly what we need it to do – very reliable and works very well”

The frontage of the Ocean Terminal shopping centre in Edinburgh has received a radical makeover as part of a major investment to increase footfall by enhancing the visitor experience. The extension has been covered with STEREO-KINETIC cladding; hundreds of freely-moving stainless steel sheets suspended from grating panels. Gusts of wind, traffic, even people walking by cause the metal rectangles to ripple in an ever-changing display. The kinetic artwork has been designed in such a way as to allow the passage of natural daylight through the underlying window openings on the second floor level.

Brentford Market Place was one of the main areas scheduled to be redeveloped as part of a wider scheme to entice people back into the town centre. ‘Making the connection’ is a project set up to improve Brentford town, funded by the Mayor’s outer London fund. The aim of the scheme is to attract people to Brentford High Street, one of West London’s most historic and diverse shopping areas, by improving the public realm space and creating a new route for walkers and cyclists along the Grand Union Canal, between Great West road and Brentford High Street.

Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund is the largest stadium in Germany and home to Borussia Dortmund football club. Its shop was replaced by a spectacular new FanWorld, from where not only merchandise and tickets are sold, but also events are hosted and the BVB brand is experienced. The architectural design contributes to the brand experience without overpowering it. Transparency and safety are key. Q-railing’s Easy Glass Slim and Easy Glass 3kN glass balustrades were a solution for both the interior and exterior stairways and balustrades, including curved base shoes, glass and cap rails.

Up to 4000m2 of Rockfon ceiling tiles from four ranges, plus grid, trim and accessories, are installed throughout the €233m County Longford resort which features 470 lodges, 30 apartments, a ‘Subtropical Swimming Paradise’, sports hall, bowling, restaurants, bars, shops and a wellness spa – all overlooking a 3.5 hectare lake set in the heart of the forest. The Folkehuset Absalon in Copenhagen is an excellent example of the growing trend towards multi-use and multi-purpose cultural social centres. Designed to promote community cohesion with a flexible space to accommodate a variety of activities and services, multi-purpose venues are used to support everything from sport, leisure and learning through to childcare, heritage, culture, elderly needs, tourism, pop-up shops and events. This award-winning project by Arcgency architects has taken a former Church with its high ceilings and transformed it into a flexible community centre with ‘living-room’ feel.

KaDeWe in Berlin, one of the world’s most renowned department stores for more than 100 years, introduces its customers to new shopping experiences time and again. In doing so, KaDeWe constantly reinvents itself and undergoes constant change. Numerous structural modifications ensure that the building keeps in step with the times, both spatially and architecturally. During the project, customer toilets were equipped with sanitary products from the Aveo and Loop & Friends from Villeroy & Boch in the scope of a renovation of the sales area by Architect Udo Landgraf and Ingenieurbüro Trache IBT.

The owners of LABS have a desire to exceed their environmental targets, while engaging their community of local businesses to increase revenues by implementing innovative and Smart technologies that offer shared value to their community.Their ProblemThe estate has 12 washrooms in 3 locations in London using Dyson hand dryers in their washrooms with a power rating of 1600 watts. Further, due to the unusually high footfall at Camden Market, washroom maintenance is proving challenging due to sudden peak surges. The client was looking for a technology solution to reduce their energy and operational costs, and new ways to engage its users to drive additional revenue based on shared values with its community.Our SolutionSAVORTEX deployed 20 of its revolutionary adDryerTM hand dryers on a pilot in 2 of the busiest washrooms at Camden Market. The adDryer uses an advanced digital brush-less motor technology, which consumes power of just 550W, offers 10x more operational life than traditional dryers and comes with an in-built Video screen, connected to a content management system and shows a full motion advert or internal message in response to users drying their hands.The dryer wirelessly reports the energy usage per dry and washroom footfall to the SAVORTEX web portal, allowing estates managers to remotely manage their washroom facilities, and drive responsive cleaning for enhanced hygiene and sustainability. Over the trial period the estates manager was able to monitor hand dryer usage and washroom footfall of 45,100 people per month with an average drying time of 8.8 seconds, triggering 1,100 washroom inspections per week, resulting in significant operational savings throughout the estate. Further, the Marketing team at Camden Market Management inspiredlocal business to drive adverts via a the SAVORTEX contentmanagement system on-line direct to users drying hands. 19 out of the 30 local Businesses signed up and pushed daily offers and adverts direct to users to drive traffic into their store.

The newly opened £24m Torfaen Learning Zone in Cwmbran is a showcase for AluK’s SL52 capped, mullion drained curtain walling system, complete with punched open-in windows in the thermally efficient AluK 77IWE casement system. Part of the Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools and Education programme, it is the new home of learning for all those aged 16 and over in Cwmbran and caters for 1300 students. It has been built on a brownfield site in the centre of the town and will form part of a wider development, also set to include offices, a hotel and retail and hospitality outlets.

Magna Park in Milton Keynes is an extensive distribution and logistics hub, which plays a crucial role for major retailers across the UK and Europe. Units in the park are occupied by the likes of Amazon, John Lewis and River Island. Brandsafe has worked on a number of these buildings, most recently the Latitude warehouse. In order to protect the 12.5m high internal pillars, polymer column protectors with additional forklift impact skirts were supplied and installed by Brandsafe. HGV wheel stops were also provided to protect the building and its occupants from impact damage.

The 80 Charlotte Street buildings were designed by Make Architects. 80 Charlotte Street is the largest building at 323,000 sq ft. The two other buildings total 12,000 sq ft of retail areas and 45,000 sq ft of residential space. The development, which began in 2011, is set to be completed in 2019. Arup is the anchor tenant for the new development and will take approx. 41% of the main building for new office spaces. Effisus Pre-Fab Profiles was used to seal connections on the façade system assuring watertight and airtight façade connections.

Pioneer Square is a mixed use retail and leisure development in the the heart of Bicester in Oxfordshire, anchored by a Sainsbury’s superstore and including a 7-screen cinema, offices, library and hotel.As a regeneration project within the city centre, it included a 526 space car park over two levels. Lang+Fulton supplied 134 panels of Terra-34 open mesh grating to act as a security barrier over an area of 1010m2. In addition, 85 panels of Italia-100 louvres in various dimensions were supplied to cover an area of 231m2 which required visual screening.

One Hyde Park is a major residential and retail complex adjacent to Hyde Park. Owned by a consortium consisting of Christian Candy owned CPC group and the Qatar Royal family, designed by Sir Richard Rogers (Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners) the development has 86 residential properties ranging from approx. £20m, making it one of the most prestigious & luxurious residential developments in the world. Kaldewei were able to establish and deliver a specification of our Classic Duo 1600, 1700 & 1800 bathtubs to be under-mounted by marble. The scheme was delivered 2009/10.

Jaguar Land Rover established a new luxury show room in Watford earlier last year to accommodate the growing business needs of the local area. The new site, located in the Colne Valley Retail Park, facilitates an 18-car showroom and external display area as well as an MOT bay and valeting facilities. With around 50 fulltime employees, frequent visitors and a vast number of high value motor vehicles, it was imperative that the site was secured with adequate perimeter security and access control to ensure the safety of site personnel and protect commercial assets.

Retail giants, Sports Direct opened a new store in Middlesbrough town centre and have specified NSL02 stair nosings to be used on all of their interior stairs. NSL02 is a slimline rakeback profile that is suited for high levels of footfall, combined with the excellent level of slip resistance that these profiles provide, makes the NSL02 the perfect choice of nosing to be used. A white insert has been used on the top and bottom step in each set of stairs in-order to aid the visually impaired when distinguishing where and when one set ends and another begins.

A straightforward hardwearing concrete seal was required at the entrance which would withstand heavy footfall and provide a safe finish. Resuseal WB Clear is a water-based epoxy applied at around 40 microns per coat. This is formulated to penetrate and case harden a concrete surface giving it a much harder wearing surface which is less likely to crumble or degrade. As a clear coat the finish is a semi industrial type look which is often used in retail outlets and commercial buildings. This product is used throughout industry where the principal requirement is to dustproof a surface.

A huge regeneration project site emerged in Croydon which involved the construction of 514 apartments.The whole project covered approximately 34,000 square meters including ground-floor retail and office space.Soundis supplied a Soundis Cradle & Batten system on all 4 tower blocks which make up the 34,000m2 development. This system was installed directly on the concrete subfloor and was chosen due to its acoustic performance incorporating levelling capabilities.The Soundis Cradle & Batten system helps to improve both airborne and impact performance and is compliant with Robust Detail FFT2.

The £43 Million second phase of the regeneration of Bristol Harbourside features two new residential buildings and four retail units.The design by Alec French Architects reflects the area’s historic past and features an extensive thermally efficient glazing package. This includes Senior’s fixed light plus tilt & turn SPW600 aluminium windows, SPW501 aluminium commercial doors for emergency exits and inward opening SPW600 aluminium doors giving access to apartment balconies.The highly durable aluminium construction of Senior’s glazing systems makes them ideal for coastal and waterside buildings.

The Outdoor Deck Company are delighted to have started work at Islington Square. Located in the heart of Islington, Islington Square is set to become one of London’s newest residential neighbourhoods. The former Edwardian Mail Centre and Post Office buildings are being transformed into a selection of apartments, maisonettes and penthouses including high-end retail units and restaurants. The Outdoor Deck Company have been commissioned to supply and install premium grade Ipe timber decking for the eleven Penthouse roof-top gardens, which include `endless` swimming pools and private decked entertaining areas.

Yeoman Shield FalmouthEX Wall Panels in Red, Stainless Corner Angles, Special Timber Pattress (covered in Black PVC), Duo Fender (Black with Red inner) and Stainless Steel Footrail were supplied and installed throughout the Mount Pleasant depot. Birmingham’s New Street station is used by more than 170,000 passengers per day. The £750-million transformation of the station took five years to complete and involved the creation of an iconic new atrium for the passenger concourse, improved platforms, new entrances and a range of facilities including the ‘Grand Central’ shopping area. ACO Building Drainage designed a bespoke radial channel solution with 6mm uniformed joints which matched the channel covers provided by ACO. The team also designed an outlet for the channels, enabling them to deal with the deep slab design and technical practicalities of the site.

Sitting opposite the former BBC Television Centre and adjacent to Westfield Shopping Centre, this exciting new development includes 10.4 acres of open space in the form of a new public park for White City, 1500 new homes including affordable housing and commercial premises. Buzon UK were specified to install the Buzon DPH pedestal system under a large area of timber tiered seating, creating the perfect space for the local community to enjoy. Buzon pedestals were also used in the construction of various external stage decks, bench seating and large terraces within the commercial area of the development.

Eagle House is a leisure development consisting of 84 modern 1 & 2 bedroom apartments at the Lexicon in Bracknell. This 4,500m² redevelopment is part of the Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, costing £240 million to construct this leisure development, including shops, bars, restaurants and leisure facilities.Cellecta DECKfon 26T was used in this development as the ideal acoustic overlay treatment to improve the performance of the original structural timber decked floor. The tongue and grove edge detail make it quicker and easy to install, saving time and money.Thomas Homes was awarded the contract to redevelop this leisure development within the ring in Bracknell.
