Triton has supplied 3,280kg of TT Admix, its BBA certified concrete waterproofing system, to a prestigious new build project in West London. The project is a new car dealership situated between the M4 flyover and the site of Brentwood FC's new stadium. The construction comprises a watertight concrete base with welded sheet piled walls and a watertight concrete capping beam to provide a Type B integral waterproofing solution to BS 8102 (2009). On top of the slab is a steel framed structure.

Soundis were contracted by Parkeray to provide an acoustic flooring solution for an expansion at the London campus of Point Blank Music School, a prestigious award-winning music school. Cardigan Integrated Care Centre is a brand new healthcare centre in West Wales, housing a GP practice, dental service and pharmacy.Each unit was pre-plumbed and tested at the Venesta factory, reducing installation time by 50% and giving the end user added peace of mind.The aim of the £24m development was to provide safe, sustainable, integrated care for local residents. The anticipated high footfall meant durable and hardwearing solutions were required in all consultation rooms and washroom areas.Hygiene and infection control were of paramount importance, so we worked closely with Accredited Installers, Shire Integrated Systems, to ensure fit for purpose healthcare solutions were selected.Vepps Boxed-Out Units were specified for all the consultation rooms and offered speedy installation, while maintaining the integrity of rear fire walls and acoustic rated walls. The Solid Grade Laminate (SGL) box sides in ‘Shadow’ were rebated into strong extruded aluminium frames that provide flush, easy to clean surfaces.Meanwhile, Vepps Wall System panelling was specified for the toilet areas, which meant the WCs, flushes, basins and taps were pre-plumbed and thoroughly tested before being delivered to the Centre for installation.Read the full case study for full details.

Little Ilford, Eastbrook and Eastbury Schools all presented distinctive design challenges in terms of access, safety and flow around the building. Added to this was the ever-present pressure to meet with the required standards for a public sector project, which included the need to use BIM level 2 throughout the design and build process.

This exciting riverside development in South East London is breathing new life into a former brownfield site that was once home to some of the largest munition factories in the UK. Appropriately named Royal Arsenal Riverside, the site comprises a mix of new build residential, retail, and commercial elements alongside the sympathetic refurbishment of several listed buildings.We are proud to have supplied the aluminium fenestration package for a new phase of the development which has seen the creation of a new 10 storey residential building containing 112 apartments.The new building has been constructed to work in harmony with one of the Grade II listed buildings and to complement the heritage of the site. This involved the demolition of an old energy centre building and the careful renovation of two existing warehouse buildings to provide space for commercial use.The mix of old and new, and residential and commercial, has been harmonised with the use of our slim line SF52 curtain wall system and low maintenance SPW600 aluminium windows. The curtain walling screens also incorporate feature curved heads along the spine of the building to pay homage to the scheme’s industrial heritage.The high profile project was designed by architects Corstorphine & Wright for Berkeley Homes and is one of the latest London based contacts to be undertaken in collaboration with our supply chain partner Soundcraft.

Created as part of the wider regeneration of the former industrial area of Ouseburn Valley, Lower Steenberg’s Yard is a four-storey development comprising ground floor commercial office space and 28 residential apartments on the floors above. Benefiting from stunning riverside views of the Ouseburn, a small tributary of the River Tyne, the scheme has been designed by Xsite Architecture and constructed by Esh Construction for developers PfP igloo.The architectural style of Lower Steenberg’s Yard has been informed by both the neighbouring Victorian-era industrial buildings and Scandinavian design elements, with the latter inspired by Mr Richard Steenberg, the Danish industrialist who established a number of businesses in the area throughout the 1850s. As a result, clean lines and the extensive use of natural light are key features of the scheme. This has been achieved to great effect using Senior’s slimline aluminium fenestration systems which have been fabricated and installed by Crown Doors and Shutters.Each of the apartments feature Senior’s low U-value PURe® aluminium windows, specified as triple-glazed tilt and turn style units to provide safe and secure ventilation and ease of maintenance. Senior’s thermally-efficient PURe® SLIDE and PURe® FOLD patio doors have also been installed to provide access to private terraces which overlook the river. Automated parking system will combine storage and service for classic, racing and luxury cars.Lödige Industries has secured a contract from SSR-Performance to deliver an automated car storage system. The 141-space facility in Munich, Germany is billed to be the most modern automated system aimed at luxury and classic car owners.About the new classic car parking facility in Munich SSR-Performance is constructing a 10,000 m² classic, racing and luxury car hub with specialist repair and styling facilities, race sports services and showroom. The new automated classic and sports car storage facility complements these plans. The contract with Lödige Industries includes the planning, construction, installation and servicing of the new robotic system. Work on site has already begun and is scheduled to complete in early 2020. Combining maintenance and storage of classic, racing and luxury cars on a restricted footprintConsistent humidity and reduced levels of oxygen are important to reduce corrosion and fire risk when storing classic cars. Humidity, temperature and atmosphere inside the robotic parking system are controlled to cater for the specific requirements of vintage cars. “I have been looking for a facility like this myself for several years now. St Benet Biscop Catholic Academy, in Bedlington, Northumberland, was undertaking a full building refurbishment and required low maintenance blinds that wouldn’t get sucked out of the windows. They installed the YewdaleDefiant® C40T sidewinder blind. This cassette system retains the fabric with studs integrated into the fabric. This holds the fabric into the side channels meaning there is no chance of the blind blowing in the wind. The barrel is enclosed within a headbox which protects the fabric and helps with keeping the blind low maintenance and looking good. Read more about this project.

There’s no monkeying around for Kestrel Aluminium Systems and HTL Windows and Doors as they deliver an improved visitor experience at Whipsnade Zoo based in Dunstable. As part of a refurbishment project the entrance area was redesigned incorporating a gift shop, café and ticket office, all under one roof creating an inviting visitor welcome area.

The Down to Earth Training Centre, built almost exclusively with natural and locally sourced materials required an anti–root roofing system, ready for the install of a green roof.

Leicester based fabricators SB Aluminium Services were key to the success of the transformation of the offices of Crowland Cranes in Peterborough. The makeover of the business premises was driven by the desire to create a modern and striking frontage to the offices. Kestrel Aluminium System’s low rise curtain wall, 60mm windows and commercial doors were specified throughout the building.

SubFloor flooring was used to help renovate, raise and ventilate a 700 m² floor into a Nursery near Gothenburg, Sweden.The Subfloor ventilation system was ideal for this nursery, as it allowed for multiple floor height adjustments and for ventilation installations under the floor. Associated floor ventilation material such as ducts, air distribution strips, fans, etc. was also provided. The negative pressure the ventilation generates under the floor creates a fresh and healthy indoor environment.This simple and elegant solution raised and levelled the floor to allow for installations and insulation. National Flooring Co Ltd, one of our Approved Contractors was approached by Moy Construction Co Ltd who were awarded a contract to refurbish the swimming pool and changing areas at Perseid School in Surrey. The school offers an educational provision for children with learning difficulties and/or physical/sensory difficulties, and therefore, safety was paramount. As part of the refurbishment a hardwearing, slip-resistant flooring system that offered excellent longevity was essential. The floor had been previously tiled, but due to water ingress, kept failing and required frequent repair. Rising maintenance costs and risk of slips prompted the school to look for alternative solutions and resin became an obvious choice. A Degafloor resin floor provides a seamless, hardwearing, and impermeable finish that will offer years of service. Moy Construction Co Ltd removed the existing floor tiles and installed a new screed prior to the installation of the resin system. From the offset, achieving a floor finish with a suitable slip rating was non-negotiable.The Degafloor QTA system is a quartz trowelled system which can be laid to falls. The system, which is broadcast with a quartz aggregate, provides excellent slip resistance, even in wet conditions, ensuring high levels of safety are always maintained. The project, which included the swimming pool surround and adjoining changing rooms, totalled 145 sqm of floor and 135 lm of cove. The installation was completed over 5 days and to the satisfaction of Moy Construction Co Ltd, who were happy to have the project completed to a high standard, on time and within budget.

Schlüter-Systems used its specialist technical knowledge and a number of key product solutions to minimise floor build-up and guarantee complete waterproofing provision in the refurbishment of one of Ireland’s most magnificent country houses. Set in 840 acres of grounds, Adare Manor was the subject of an 18-month-long renovation—its most extensive in 25 years. 40 new bedrooms have been added to this 19th century neo-gothic masterpiece as well as a host of new facilities; including a swimming pool, boardroom, cinema, spa and 350-capacity ballroom.

We zone in on the complete wetroom solution provided for the Lalit Hotel one of Schlüter-Systems’ grandest projects of 2016/17 and finalist in the ‘Listed Building (Over £5 million)’ category of the AJ Retrofit Awards 2017. The conversion project took the historic Grade II listed building previously known as St Olave’s Grammar School, located at Bankside in London, and transformed it into a luxury 70-room boutique hotel that fuses the best of Indian and British culture. Lalit London is the 13th hotel of the Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, and the first based outside of India.

Delta were employed to assist on this leaking podium deck project. Following a full assessment of The Hub and its underground parking facilities it was identified that rainwater was entering the basement car park through the ceiling deck at multiple points. These points included holes that were formed to allow drainage from the surface, movement joints and investigation holes that had been created through the steel rib and concrete deck. Based on “as built plans” a system was designed post construction that would offer the same quality of structural protection had it been incorporated during the build phase.

Delta’s Technical Team along with Delta Registered Installers Marsden Damp Services were approached by the main contractor Wilmott Dixon to give assistance on designing a robust waterproofing solution. Working in collaboration with the architects and project team, this team of waterproofing experts were easily able to offer a simplistic and practical approach.The project was split into 2 phases with Phase 1 waterproofing the existing stage and orchestra pit and Phase 2, the seating and ancillary rooms which all required the installation of a Type C waterproofing system to ensure a Grade 3 habitable environment was created.

Aintree Racecourse is located in Sefton, Merseyside. The racecourse is best known for hosting the Grand National steeplechase. The grandstand was suffering badly from water ingress to the areas below due to the floor coatings and joint seals which had degraded over years of exposure to the elements. Koster flooring systems were specified to provide a long-term solution to the exposed areas, providing a decorative, slip-resistant finish suitable for UV exposure and the weather conditions faced in the UK. The completed area is the perfect spot to enjoy the worlds’ biggest horse race in 2021 and beyond.

Grimsby based fabricators Fabrique Specialist Glazing were a perfect choice to complete all the fenestration needs for a brand new Holiday Inn Express in Grimsby Town Centre. Fabrique approached their aluminium supplier Kestrel Aluminium Systems to assist them with the project and the two companies worked in partnership for the entire project, from product specification to delivery.

The £60.5m education campus project comprises four new education buildings: Winchburgh Academy – a 660 pupil non-denominational secondary school, Sinclair Academy – a 660 pupil denominational secondary school, Holy Family Primary School – a 231 pupil replacement primary school with nursery and a shared community sports block.Delivered by Morrison Construction for West Lothian Council and its development partner, Hub South East Scotland Limited, the project was built in response to a significant new housing expansion in the area. Metal Technology Ltd performed an intrinsic technical role in the collaborative design approach with both Ryder Architecture and JM Architects, supplying its high performance range of architectural glazing systems via approved fabricator Albann Limited. Metal Technology products installed were: System 17 High-Rise Curtain Walling, System 5-35Hi+ Tilt and Turn Window, System 4-35Hi+ Casement Window, System 5-20DHi+ Doors and System 22 Brise Soleil. Project detailsDerby City Council’s new Innovation Centre is at the heart of Infinity Park, Derby’s new 250-acre commercial and technology park.Designed to embrace the characteristics of transport engineering, the centre will play a vital role in supporting companies in the aerospace, automotive and transport industries by helping existing companies to grow and new ones to develop. Project overviewThe Innovation Centre demonstrates its environmental credentials through a number of sustainable features to reduce the carbon footprint. These include GDL natural ventilation products to help provide efficient heating and cooling.GDL worked in conjunction with Derry Ltd to provide and install Intelivent Wall Units and Penthouse Turrets.Designed to meet the ventilation demand of the occupied spaces, our in-house design team assisted making the correct system choices. Our Intelivent products are particularly effective in offices, seminar rooms & workshops where occupancy levels vary throughout the day and a controlled ventilation rate is required.Benefits of using GDL Products on the projectThe Wall Units allow a controlled environment by allowing natural fresh air to enter the building via external weather louvres. The heating coil within the unit is used as a front line heating source during winter.Our Intelivent Turrets offer a balanced supply of fresh air whilst removing warm stale air, an ideal product to ventilate the workshops effectively and efficiently.Intelivent Transfer Fans have been installed to ductwork to assist with the supply and extract of air within the offices and seminar rooms.

The Quartermile development is a cosmopolitan mix of luxury apartments, cafes and businesses in the heart of Edinburgh city centre. The masterplan for the new area is designed by Foster + Partners and enjoys views of some of Edinburgh’s greatest landmarks. The access to the new building (adjacent to the old Edinburgh Royal Infirmary site) is elevated from the North Meadow Walk pedestrian walkway and cycle route. The pathways and landscaped areas in front of the development needed a structural drainage solution and reinforced turf area that would be suitable for trafficking by maintenance and emergency vehicles when required.ABG’s high strength Roofdrain 60S+RX geocomposite was specified to provide sub-surface drainage across the base of the podium deck. The drainage board provides a high flow capacity void to channel water pressure to the surrounding perimeter drains. By utilising a 60mm drainage layer the need for much deeper and harder to install drainage stone layers can be minimised. The carbon footprint for the product is just 3.3 kgCO2e per m2 which is an approximate 50% saving compared to the embodied carbon of quarrying, transportation and installation of the equivalent thickness of drainage aggregates. Once installed the Roofdrain core is filled with pea gravel to provide a rigid sub-base beneath a bedding layer and resin bound gravel pathways. The drainage core features regular perforations to allow surface water to percolate and drain to the underside of the board. Adjoining rolls can be easily overlapped with the cups designed to slot  into one another. The Roofdrain was overlaid with a Terrex NW9 geotextile to prevent fines entering the drainage core. The Roofdrain can be stepped to cascade into lower sections to suit the landscaping layout. The main green area to the front of the building was cultivated using the Advanced Turf reinforced grass system. The Netlon Advanced Turf System (Netlon ATS) is a high performance, mesh-element reinforced natural grass rootzone system that provides a SuDS compliant free-draining grassed surface. It consists of a high quality, sandy soil rootzone into which thousands of playing card sized polypropylene Netlon plastic mesh elements are pre-blended. The composite mesh reinforced rootzone and selected turf are then delivered to site as a system. ATS was specified for this development to support loading by occasional MEWP vehicles such as cherry pickers, and in the event emergency vehicles need to traffic onto the grass.

Koster Aquatecnic were approached to investigate flooring problems at the Hasbury Methodist Church in Halesowen. Issues relating the vapour release through the existing concrete slab was discovered, with readings above 85% RH. Taking inspiration from Roald Dahl and David Lynch, the office space now boasts grand, arched-entrance swing doors, beer taps on receptions and floor-to-ceiling custom window blinds – to name just a few. On the first floor, an eclectic zig zag flooring design has also been created, using Forbo’s Flotex Colour range in the Melon (a burned orange shade) and Crystal (a heather-like hue) colourways. In fact, the colourways influenced the colour scheme for the office space, with similar shades adorning the walls, ceilings and swing doors.JA!COCO! also chose to install Forbo’s Allura Click LVT planks in the Blond Timber colourway throughout the hallway and kitchen spaces, to complement the more ‘stripped back’ décor, which has an almost bar-like atmosphere.

The new purpose-built Health & Allied Professions (HAP) Centre forms part of Nottingham Trent University’s vibrant Clifton Campus and features an array of innovative resources and amenities, including mock hospital wards, specialist equipment and creative teaching spaces, to assist students in their study of nursing, paramedicine and healthcare.The impressive building has been designed by architects Pick Everard and incorporates a number of sustainable features to achieve an ‘excellent’ BREEAM rating. One of Cardiff city centre’s recent regeneration schemes, Capitol Quarter, required a multi storey car park to provide parking for the new office buildings within the development. During the core renovation of the Frankfurt office tower, the Lindner Group was entrusted with the complete basic fit-out and one of the tenant fit-outs. The Project The world-famous Lords cricket ground has undergone a huge redevelopment scheme. Tamworth based fabricators Window and Door Maintenance Services have completed phase two of the development of Ashlawn School based in Rugby. The extension of the Expressive Arts Centre provides a new centre for students and teachers to collaborate on creative projects in state-of-the-art facilities. Kestrel Aluminium System’s products specified included both thermal and non-thermal ground floor treatment, commercial doors and the 60mm window suite.
