Tolson’s Mill is a grade 2 listed former mill close to Tamworth. This iconic and unique development consists of 51 new canal side apartments and 10 town houses all offering a bright and stylish finish. These apartments offer a unique waterfront lifestyle, blending tranquillity with a vibrant local community. Set right beside the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal the Mill is divided into floors of 10 apartments. The annex will be divided into a range of 2 to 4 bedroom townhouses making full use of the annex and its dual aspect, which overlooks the canal.Cellecta’s HiDECK Structural was specified by Crosby Granger Architects due to it being a conductive structural floorboard and having outstanding acoustic and fire performance and low thermal resistance.Brookland Group was awarded this 8,940m² contract to construct this refurbishment located in the district of Lichfield.

James Homes is a temporary accommodation for homeless refuge. Once an old office building, this development has been renovated into 57 apartments of one, two and three bedrooms that can provide emergency accommodation for 160 people. The city-centre refurbishment includes wheelchair accessible rooms, a new-build entrance foyer, meeting rooms and staff spaces. The apartments have separate bedrooms and living space, plus a shower room and storage.Cellecta’s Mojave S1-8 was specified by City of York Council due to it being a lightweight option for an acoustic composite floor build up. This system has a low energy use, reducing running costs and CO₂ emissions, which benefits the environment.Robertsons was awarded this 3,200m² contract for this development at James Street in York.

Like every other institute of learning, the University of Bristol has to provide world class educational facilities, but also find new revenue streams. One such area is the provision of commercial conference space. This of course brings an extra pressure in the quality of the space provided to fee paying delegates.The atmosphere of the large open atrium was dependent on controlling the level of reverberation, without compromising on the architectural finish.Working closely with the Main Contractors Site Team, Architect and Client, we were involved in the specification for the new Atrium Feature Wall, along with all complex detailing, including expansion joints, louvres and display cabinets.Working closely with Vinci Construction, to carry out the Absorb-R GypLine αw Acoustic Plaster treatment to the Atrium Feature Wall at the University.Soundis Absorb-R GypLine αw system was installed to give a very desirable natural white stippled effect, combined with a highly absorbent functional wall spanning the length and height of the building, rising a full 5 floors.

The Tytherington is a 4-star hotel and club situated nearby to Manchester airport. The hotel saw the refurbishment of its club and the development of 65 bedrooms, with a bar and tennis court, guests can use the spa, wellness centre, fitness centre, sauna, hot tub, and garden. The new investment sees refurbishment of club facilities including members bars, changing rooms, function rooms, and reception areas. Harbour Central is a condominium complex in London’s Docklands, costing £17.6 million and comprising 642 private one, two, and three bedroom apartments divided across five residential buildings. WJL Contracts have been providing high-quality, bespoke joinery solutions to some of the largest contractors in UK construction for over forty years. In 2020, Hewlett Packard Enterprises relocated to The 210 Building, an inspiring office development in the heart of Winnersh Triangle. Working with architects, Perkins and Will, and BW Construction, Style was specified to create an extensive range of flexible space within the meeting rooms as well as a chic, collaborative working environment.Using a combination of 52dB Dorma Hüppe semi-automatic Variflex glass moveable walls, 55dB solid semi-automatic Variflex moveable walls and Style’s ingenious ‘working wall’ pivot panels, a supremely flexible and stylish training and meeting suite has been created. Hewlett Packard employees enjoy a contemporary environment with the freedom to rapidly change room configuration as often as required. The 210 Building offers 62,000 sq ft of newly refurbished office space, of which 31,000 sq ft has been let to Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Aiming to enhance the work/life balance of employees and staff located in the Winnersh Triangle, the Park offers a plethora of amenities including fitness facilities, cafes, open spaces for walking and cycling, an on-site nursery and even its own dedicated railway station. “This is a stunning installation,” said Julian Sargent, Style’s group managing director. “Everything about it is first class, making this a project we’re incredibly proud of.“The Variflex moveable walls offer top-end acoustic integrity, which means meetings and training sessions can take place undisturbed. The combination of glass and solid panels deliver a wonderful blend of privacy and transparency, while bringing a light and airy feel to the floor space.“The mix of fabric and writeable white board finishes offer a chic interior design yet a practical one too, and the pivot panels offer the perfect solution for collaborative working and break out groups.”Style’s agile, floating panel ‘working walls’ remove the usual barriers of meeting and training rooms, segregated work desks and cubicles, instead offering companies a space where individuals can group together, team up quickly on projects, share ideas and change their environment to suit the task in hand.

Architecture and design practice KSS Associate, Trevor Gidlow commented, “We were commissioned by interior fit-out specialists, Portview, to review various ceiling systems for application within Coal Drops Yard. Five were reviewed including monolithic and stretched fabric systems. Our assessment criteria included - appearance, sustainability, acoustic class, fire resistance, combustibility, weight, installation angle and curved edge profiles. Rockfon® Mono® Acoustic was our final recommendation and main contractor selection based on the ability to install as a multi-gang operation, thereby gaining significant programme benefits. The appearance of the installation fully achieved the original design vision”.

King Fisher House is a regeneration of a five-storey housing block in the Westmill neighbourhood. Phase 1 includes homes to 37 residents from the nearby retirement living flats at Westmill Lawns and Freemans Close, while phase 2 brings 46 new homes. All acoustic products which were installed on this project by UK Acoustic Systems were manufactured by Soundis, specifically their Soundis Absorb-R WoodTec range, which the client and architect approved due to their versatility, and the fact they were able to manufacture the products exactly to the project specific specification.The Micro Perforated Timber panels were located and installed on the curved rear wall of the auditorium. The timber core panels were faced with Micro Perforated Formica and the client decided upon the colour red which contrasted the other products within the auditorium tremendously.

The Gresham Aparthotel is a luxurious refurbishment of the old Fenwicks Store into 121 one and two bed apartments and studios, spread over four floors. There is also a rooftop bar and a gym featured in the hotel. Rooms can be accessed via a lift or via the staircase - which is the original staircase and includes all the original handrails and balustrades. The iconic building was created in the 1800s by local architect Isaac Barradale for Joseph Johnsons, a local draper. In 1962, it was taken over by retailer Fenwick, which occupied the site until its closure in March 2017.Cellecta’s ScreedBoard 28 was specified by RG+P Architects due to its unrivalled acoustic performance and its installation convenience due to interlocking edges. Originally a scheme comprising of 18 homes off Little Cross Street, this development went under a full review to secure more sites and increase the development, including the relocation of a retail unit. Overlooking the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, this development includes 30% affordable housing. The scheme consists of demolishing a post-war commercial building to deliver a series of buildings set around three shared gardens within walking distance to Hackney Wick Overground station.Cellecta’s ScreedBoard 20 was specified by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris due to it being the ideal overlay floorboard for acoustic applications. ScreedBoard 20 was laid upon the first floor over PIR to achieve U Values, as the build could not accept a wet screed due to weight restrictions upon the ground.L&Q were awarded this 5,500m² contract to construct this development in Fish Village within Bow.

Alexandra House, a former health clinic, delivers 16 affordable, high-quality homes meeting low energy and dependable living standards. Comprising of 9 two bedroom flats which front the main junction of Northern Parade and Doyle Avenue, adjacent are 4 three bedroom houses and 3 Dependable living houses. Shard Place is a 26 story residential development housing 176 apartments from studios to three bedrooms and the third building in Renzo Piano’s Shard Quarter. Situated between St. Thomas Street and London Bridge Street and adjacent to The Shard, Shard Place was previously Fielden House before demolition. Shard Place is one of London’s most central and connected residences, a 28-minute train ride from Gatwick international airport and a short stroll to London’s South Bank. It encompasses five-star amenities, including a rooftop pool, fitness suite, cinema room and private roof garden.Cellecta’s HiDECK Structural 28 was specified by Renzo Piano Building Workshop due to to it being a conductive structural floorboard and having outstanding acoustic and fire performance and low thermal resistance.Mace was awarded this 12,000m² contract for this development in London.

This Hotel is a 73 bed seafront Travelodge Hotel that was developed as part of Denbighshire County Council’s Waterfront Regeneration programme for Rhyl. Constructed on the site of the East Parade car park near the former Sun Centre, the three-storey timber-framed hotel has a render finish. It includes four accessible rooms, a ground floor reception, a bar, a breakfast restaurant area, and an onsite car park. This is the first hotel at Rhyl Beach, the company’s 576th Travelodge, and the company’s 27th hotel in Wales.Cellecta DECKfon 26T was specified by Ion Developments due to it being the ideal acoustic overlay treatment to improve the performance of the original structural timber decked floor. The tongue and groove on the floorboard make it quick and easy to install, saving time and money.Wynne Construction was awarded this 1,400m² contract to construct this hotel in North Wales.

The large sports hall in the new £22.5million Whitwick and Coalville Leisure Centre offers considerable functionality thanks to a Dorma Hüppe Variflex moveable wall installed by partitioning experts, Style. Featuring semi-automatic operation with an impressive 59dB acoustic barrier between divided areas, the wall allows the hall to be quickly separated into two dance and fitness studios or opened-up to accommodate activities requiring the entire area.Ensuring a long-term return on investment, the Variflex panels are manufactured separately from the frame, allowing individual ones to be easily changed if they become damaged. This represents a highly cost-effective solution, compared to having the entire moveable wall replaced, and is an essential feature for a busy facility like this where a wide variety of sports are being enjoyed.A partnership between North-West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) and Everyone Active, the new leisure centre boasts a competition-sized swimming pool, learner pool, gym, spin and dance studios, squash courts, a climbing wall, café and spa facilities as well as the eight-court sports hall. Working with architect, GT3 and contractor, Metnor Construction, Style advised installing the Dorma Variflex moveable wall, effectively increasing the useability of the sports hall, allowing the space to be rapidly adapted to meet the varied demands of exercise classes and different sporting groups.Finished in a contemporary pearly grey laminate, the Variflex benefits from semi-automatic operation which means, once the wall has been moved into position, the acoustic seals are applied to the perfect pressure every time without the need for manual intervention.“For dance and fitness studios, it’s critical to have a high quality moveable wall with a top-end acoustic rating,” said Steve Williams, sales director for Style Midlands.“Without this, you suffer competing music and instruction from the classes taking place either side which becomes a real interference and spoils the quality of teaching.“With the 59dB acoustic wall, you are very close to a sound-proofed solution. If music is playing on one side as the wall closes, it’s incredible to witness the noise disappearing as the semi-automatic acoustic seals move into position.

Ballards Rise is home to a development of eight flats (seven 1 bed & one 2 bed) across two interlinked purpose-built blocks. The front block comprises six flats over three floors with two further flats to the rear block over two storeys. This development has regular transport links into central London.Cellecta’s DECKfon 26T was specified by OB Architecture due to it being the ideal acoustic overlay treatment to improve the performance of the original structural timber decked floor. The tongue and groove on the floorboard make it quick and easy to install, saving time and money.Excel Construction were supplied 587m² of Cellecta products for this development in South Croydon.

The 36 storey Grade-II listed, white-concrete high-rise tower, has been completely overhauled. Previously containing offices, but has now been converted to accommodate 82 apartments, including a penthouse ranging in price from £3 million to £55 million.During the refurbishment architects clustered corridors and bathrooms in the centre of the tower, making room for living areas and bedrooms to run alongside the windows, to make the most of the London skyline view.With approximately 12,700m2 of medium density gypsum fibre panels engineered with tongue & groove edges for ease of installation to create a monolithic robust surface over underfloor heating trays and 6mm Isorubber working as an impact vibration reduction mat. The panels installed were chosen due to their excellent thermal conductivity, a requirement for the system to work in conjunction with the desired underfloor heating system.

The beautifully transformed St Helen’s Tower designed by TTSP created an environment that considered both functionality and comfort for staff and visitors. The design and build project was constructed by COMO (now Mace Interiors) and wonderfully installed by TMJ Interiors.

Shortlisted for the 2020 Architect of the Year Awards organised by Design Build; this internal refurbishment met the Breeam excellent status which we are very happy contributor. John Robertson Architects specified the Laudescher LINEA 4.2.4 which was superbly installed by CIM ltd on behalf of ISG London. Specified and installed by CIM ltd was our Laudescher Linea 4.2.4 (absorption class B, NRC 0.9) in Oak with a Varnished finish. Using the Laudescher system in various areas within the office area will contribute in keeping an area clam whilst ensuring good effective communication.

This extremely specific design of the wall panels with each slat being different thickness and depth as well and being chamfered. On the returns these are mitred, with each mitre being different to take into consideration the slat thickness and depth

This exciting installation designed by Sheppard Robson incorporated a bespoke Laudescher LINEA (aw 0.85, Absorption Class B, NRC 0.9) slatted panel with the purpose of managing the reflective nature of the walls within this main entrance area.

The timber finishes brings a natural warmth to the interior and exterior design. The Topakustik system will also allow the Gravetye Manor customers to dine in an area that has had the reverberation lowered, allowing great speech intelligibility whilst lowering the sound pressure levels.

This creative design using our Topakustik Micro system shows the flexibility of our systems and the unique way timber panels can be designed and installed.

When Italian architect Vincenzo De Cotiis redesigned the flagship store for this high-end fashion house, he wanted to capture the company’s refined essence in both the layout and glamorous aesthetic.He also wanted to integrate the brand’s famous and distinctive chequered pattern throughout.With the help of our Oscar Evo-Blade razor-edge trim, De Cotiis was able to create sharp, recessed lighting grids in the ceiling design that evoked the brand's signature tartan motif. This No 1 Sloane Street boutique will act as the blueprint for a new global design concept that the brand is set to roll out across its stores.Image credits - Tom D Morgan Photography.

A stunning design by architects Townscape, Peter O’Sullevan House is located at the front entrance of the British Racing School in Newmarket. It provides the horse racing community in East Anglia with a local specialist facility for treatment and training. The facility incorporates a hydrotherapy pool, gymnasium, treatment rooms, changing rooms, conference room, offices and meeting rooms. Forza Doors supplied high dB acoustic American White Oak veneer fire doors and solid American White Oak frames as well as Class 0 spread of flame fire-rated wall cladding panels. All the veneers were laid horizontally to match perfectly down the length of the corridors and open spaces. The feature grooves embedded into the doors provide a smart contemporary look and align with the adjacent panels.  As this innovative building needed a high level of internal finishes and fittings throughout, the contractor RG Carter chose Forza Doors. Just one of several jockey rehab centres we have had the privilege to supply in recent times. Consisting of open plan areas, treatment rooms and hydrotherapy zones, the finished project looks stunning.  

The heritage property was first built in 1931 as an office building, so the acoustics had to be upgraded during the renovation process without spoiling the character of the original design.

Lewis Deck was chosen, on this particular project in London, for a number of the key benefits the system brings. These being the strength of the system with only needing a thin concrete screed on top, the acoustic qualities & vibration control properties and the speed an ease of installation. This project even requested much longer sheets than standard in an effort to speed up the installation process. In fact you can see from the main photo above that some of the sheets were extremely long. The longest being just over 6.5m.This project was the installation of a new suspended, loadbearing concrete floor above an existing floor below. The space being used as a plant room for the hospital. The Lewis Deck was installed over a suspended steel grid of Light Gauge Steel C-section joists. A thin concrete was then installed over the top.This was a quick installation with the Lewis Deck being installed and then used as a safe working deck ahead of the screed being pumped in.

Located on Worsley Bridge Road, this scheme comprises demolition of buildings and comprehensive redevelopment of the site to provide new buildings ranging from five to nine stories in height comprising 160 residential units. Close to local amenities and situated just a short walk from the nearest train station for travel to central London and the city, Maybrey Works also offers a work hub, which is open to all residents.Cellecta’s YELOfon HD10+ was specified by Stockwool due to the system being lightweight, easy to install, and delivers unrivalled acoustic performance when used to isolate a floating screed from a structural concrete floor. Laindon Place is a mixed-use regeneration project of a shopping centre, supermarket, retail spaces, commercial units, cafes, and 224 residential homes. This centre is set out to rejuvenate the Laindon High Street by providing an expanded NHS health centre building and improved landscaping around Laindon’s historic war memorial.Cellecta HiDECK Overlay 18 was specified by C.F. Møller Architects in collaboration with Pollard Thomas Edwards in this project as the overlay flooring solution. It’s ideal for flooring applications incorporating an underflooring heating system due to its high thermal conductivity which provides rapid reaction times, saving on running costs. In addition, its high density makes it perfect for a variety of acoustic applications. Our involvement in this project has been providing the underfloor heating solution for a number of these homes.Swan Housing Association and Sanctuary were awarded this 2,000m² contract to construct this development in Essex.
