A Microbiological Analysis of BioClad PVC Wall Cladding Installed in a Food Preparation Environment.

This study aimed to compare levels of bacterial contamination isolated from surfaces in a busy kitchen situated in a UK care home. The study’s main objective was to compare bacterial contamination on the antimicrobial wall cladding with other surfaces in the kitchen. The care home kitchen had been fitted with BioClad PVC wall cladding at the time of construction in 2011. All walls in the rectangular-shaped room were fitted with BioClad from ceiling to floor. The antimicrobial performance of the wall cladding was to be appraised according to the findings of the study.

Komfort’s Polar system was specified and installed throughout One Angel Square, including all the meeting rooms. With the integration of such high-performance interior elements, this former derelict site has now been developed into an exemplar sustainable building.
Beyond sustainability and wellbeing standards, the use of Komfort’s bespoke Polar System enabled technology to be seamlessly integrated into the design, with the use of a booking system wired through the doorframe.

Komfort's “new addition” to their existing Sonik framed door offering, a 70mm picture framed single glazed framed doors was chosen as a balance between performance and appearance. This creaed the appearance of a traditional steel framed system with slender sections.
This was achieved with the use of our Kross Glaze bars, which were applied to both sides of the doors. Kross Glaze provides a design response to the recent trend of industrial style glazing and is becoming ever more popular within residential and commercial interiors. The use of Sonik Doors also enabled stringent acoustic performance requirements to be met.

A key requirement of this project was for the design and build to have a sustainable structural solution to meet the future needs.
Komfort’s double glazed Polar Vision with a 15mm +/- 3-part deflection head and 2-part base was installed. This system was specified due to the line loading over an Atrium.
Polar Vision gives you a minimal, seamless style with confident lines and unrestricted views. The system is dry jointed and constructed without mullion posts, offering up to 30 mins fire protection for both integrity and insulation, and can provide up to 48dB (Rw) sound performance.

Built by the side of the historic Silverstone Grand Prix racing track in Northamptonshire.The Brief in BriefThe project requirements demanded good DB ratings, full height doors, privacy for Mission Control with Smart Glass and privacy to Exec area with blinds. An Atrium to flood light into the ‘street’ below. Plus offices, meeting rooms, a Mission Control racing hub, a large Atrium screen over indoor areas, open plan design offices, breakout and communal areas.Komfort’s SolutionPrior to the start of the project we had numerous pre-start meetings with the design team and H&S visits with our external advisors to ensure the project would run smoothly from the start.To achieve a system and design the client desired, Komfort built mock-up sample office onsite during the design stage to highlight the design elements such as acoustic double glazed glass in Polar 100 and our deflection head system. We also supplied samples of our blinds, with the system in situ to demonstrate the operating fixtures and fittings. All samples were supplied in the clients choice of colour including matt black blinds to match the trackwork.The double glazed full length Atrium required teams working on both sides of the glass, installation from the office side and safety (fall arrest) from the street side. The atrium glazing over the machine shop area required glass lifting equipment, to ensure the fire rated glass could be sealed properly from both sides.The client made numerous changes to the design during installation, which had to be accommodated. The final project involved 800 sqm of glass and 50+ Sonik doors throughout the building site. It was a challenge and one that Komfort rose to admirably.The end resultModern open plan offices with a selection of meeting rooms. Large executive offices with blinds/locks for privacy. A large full length atrium from the offices above to the workshops and indoor street below. All areas of the racing team on 1 floor (design office, HR, Exec offices, Mission Control, finance etc).

Completion of 3 number MG100 Semi Electric Movable Acoustic Walls in the RIA Building London. Flexible space of 1 large room and with the use of 3 movable walls where 1 meets at a right angle now gives the client a 3 flexible rooms. Two access inset door panels in the larger run allows for access in-between the rooms once the panels are in their closed position. Standard white laminate panel finish chose to give a clean design and match other furniture within the room. An element of flexibility is suddenly added to your space. And the environment can quickly be manipulated to cater for any of your flexible space needs, whether that be for meetings or a little bit of privacy. The top and bottom seal operation on the MG100 movable wall system can be upgraded to the semi-electric seal operation by a flick of a switch which reduces the room set up by upto 2 thirds of the time. Begbroke Innovation Centre - the new multi-use building at Begbroke Science Park will help small and medium-sized science businesses take their projects to market, and provide facilities for researchers from the University. The open space outside the new building comprises of a number of straight and curved gabion walls, which on their own do not provide any suitable seating for users. Furnitubes supplied a number of Lapa gabion seat and bench platforms for the new building, which were installed on the gabion walls outside the facility offering new comfortable seating provision for everyone.

Project:Surespan were approached to develop and supply a series of 4 hour fire rated flush floor access covers for the Midfield Concourse expansion project at Hong Kong International Airport. The HK$10 Billion dollar project was completed in 2015 following extensive design and planning processes utilising BIM modelling. Product:Our SAC covers were specified for their fire rating and ease of customisation. The covers were specially adapted with a 200mm upstand and enhanced fire-rated materials to achieve the 4-hour rating. Just 100 metres away from the Royal Courts of Justice in London stands 188 Fleet Street, which until recently was the home of bankers Coutts & Co. The 35,000 sq ft building, purchased for £11 million, has been recently refurbished by HD Architects to house a publishing company.
The renovated office benefits from a number of striking internal steel screens which feature throughout the office and contribute to the amount of natural daylight that filters through the space.

The new headquarters of interior design brand Brabantia in Valkenswaard was recently completed. Several green living walls have been installed in the office, contributing to the company’s sustainable image. The entire office was built according to the BREEAM standard, designed by Gert Jan Kruijning of AA Architects. The vertical greenery in the building was installed by Ten Brinke Interieurbeplanting.Sustainable DesignBrabantia’s new head office was built climate-neutral according to BREEAM standards. The building’s skeleton is made entirely of wood. The green walls in the office bring in the more natural look and also provide many benefits such as oxygen production and an improved indoor climate.Thomas Deenen, Commercial Director Brabantia Benelux & DACH: ‘Implementing vertical greenery in the design was an idea of the architect, following Brabantia’s requirements. Servicecare Support Services - Coniston Wall Mounted Canopy

Portakabin Ltd. were working on a project for Servicecare Support Services Ltd. to install a temporary canteen and locker room facility. They required the extra building space so they could continue to operate whilst adhering to social distancing measures throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.Alongside the temporary building, they were in need of a wall mounted canopy along the right elevation to provide weather protection above the main entrance to the building that leads to the corridor.Able Canopies have been working with Portakabin for a number of years, adding shade and shelter structures to their temporary buildings. Although our canopies are permanent structures, we have designed above ground planter pads and special wall brackets to enable us to install the canopies and take them down when they are on longer required.These adaptions have been designed for our Coniston Wall Mounted Canopy and have been successfully used for many years now. The staff at Portakabin therefore put the Coniston Wall Mounted Canopy forward to Servicecare Support Ltd. who were pleased with the design and specifications and were happy to go ahead with the installation.The final design was 10m in length with a 3m projection to cover the whole span of the temporary building and provide the weather protection required above the entrance.

The Living Planet Centre is WWF’s brand-new purpose-built head office in Woking. Hopkins Architects and Willmott Dixon asked Planet to provide specification for internal glass partitions in this two-storey 3,666 sqm building.
For the meeting rooms, Planet Partitioning installed an electronic room booking system within p100 partitioning, so staff can book meeting rooms. For all the meeting rooms, remote controlled integrated venetian blinds allow additional privacy as required. p100 also ensures all meeting rooms meet high acoustic performance requirements.
Planet Partitioning also installed FireStop fire-rated glass partitioning to meet fire regulations throughout the building.
Heathrow Airport, Terminal 3, Gate 25 Living Walls

A customer satisfaction survey highlighted Gate 25 in Terminal 3 at Heathrow airport, as one of the lowest scoring at the airport for ‘look and feel’. Heathrow had the idea of creating “the Garden Gate” – the concept being an English garden within the airport. By designing bespoke, freestanding, self-contained living wall units we were able to help that vision come to life.

Large-scale MaxiBeam Wall & Ceiling Project - University Atrium

This was a large-scale wall and ceiling project in a 3-storey atrium of a major university reception.
Vertical MaxiBeams were specified for the walling, including parts of the stairwell, because of its adaptability. It could accommodate the complex demands of the diverse elevations, with the additional technical challenge of spanning over the large windows.
The vertical beams flowed down the inner faces of the atrium and wrapped under the soffit.
The ceiling benefitted from our discreet Click-Fix installation method, which ensured beams could be removed individually, as required.

Our Type 100E Fully Electric movable wall was installed here a few years ago. This fully automatic system allows for ease of use and gives the client the ability to open or divide the lecture theatre in minutes with the touch of a button. With an acoustic rating of Rw 58dB, both sides of the theatre can have full AV lectures without disturbance. Each panel is hand crafted to millimetre precision to match every step and riser, then fabric wrapped in sound absorbing acoustic panels and installed by our own highly qualified technicians. There are walls, but there’s only one London Wall.

Amtico helped to transform two of JD Wetherpoon’s pub entrance areas. Each site wanted to incorporate their pub logo into the flooring design.
The hardwearing attributes of Amtico flooring and the unique cutting and design capabilities influenced Harrison Ince Architects when specifying for the two sites. Interior Designer, Louise Macartney explains: “Both pubs are extremely busy so they needed a floor that could withstand the demanding usage and footfall for many years to come. In addition, Amtico’s custom design service allowed us to transform our initial idea into reality creating a greater sense of identity for each pub.”

For PCA Predict in Worcester, the need to choose new flooring came earlier than expected.
Contemporary, sleek, practical and durable were the keywords for this flooring project. After a false start with the cork floor, Office Manager Philippa Jaine was keen to achieve a contemporary look, but one that would also be able to cope with the footfall and, most importantly, would cause minimum disruption to the staff during installation. Combining the main entrance and breakout area, the total flooring space measured 95m2.

All these spaces have a sound optimisation of up to 18dB reduction and provide comfort underfoot.

Beacon House is a landmark 1850s Grade II listed building in Clifton, Bristol. Acquired by the University in 2014, it has undergone a complete redevelopment, transforming it into a state-of-the- art central study and learning hub with a new public reception point for the University, and a stylish café.
Amtico Signature finishes were chosen not only to be exciting and attractive, but also highly durable, slip resistant (R10 classification) and allow Beacon House’s staff to easily clean the areas, with a simple schedule to maintain the flooring’s high visual impact.

The combination of evenly coloured, pale greys with a smooth texture creates versatility and durability at the same time.Our Concrete product also removes the challenges presented by poured surfaces and heavy ceramics – offering instead a floor that can be laid quickly and used immediately.
