Application

  • Brush down substrate to remove any friable material, algae or lichen. Any ridges or protrusions should be removed and hollows filled to provide a smooth surface.
  • Apply fungicidal wash if required to remove all algae / fungus from the substrate.
  • Apply stabilising solution if required to help improve adhesion and offer uniform suction.
  • Attach base rails and the relevant surface profiles.
  • Apply the WBS Basecoat to an even thickness of 6-8 mm.
  • Bed the WBS Alkali Resistant Mesh into the top third of the basecoat, overlapped by 75 mm. Mesh to be kept taught and fixed from top downwards. No laps within 150 mm of any reveal or corner. Ensure mesh is covered by the basecoat.
  • Bed 200 x 200 mm off-cuts of mesh positioned at 45º to window opening corners.
  • Lightly scratch basecoat surface with a scratch comb to provide a key for finishing coat. Allow basecoat to fully dry before applying the finishing coat.
  • Apply top coat render at a thickness of 10-12 mm ensuring that it is finished proud of all profiles.
  • A darby or straight edged tool may be used to ensure a relatively uniform thickness which can then be smoothed out using a plastic float.

Description

WBS Epsirend Polymer Render:

WBS Epsirend Polymer Render is a cementitious, through-coloured render allowing a smooth or scratch finish to be achieved by the use of a wooden float, plastic trowel, sponge or scratch pad. It is widely used for building elevations that require a strikingly clean finish and is also used extensively in feature work on bands, plinths etc.

WBS Silicone FT Epsirend:

WBS Silicone FT Epsirend incorporates silicone technology to provide a very fine textured render, ideal for where the client requires a slightly smoother finish than can be achieved using the standard WBS Epsirend Polymer Renders.

Packaging:

  • Dry powder product supplied in 25 kg bags.

Finish:

  • Sponge.
  • Trowel.
  • Scratch Float.

Application:

To Achieve a Scratch Finish:

  • Scratching should take place when the render is considered green (i.e. set but not fully hardened). The exact timing of this operation varies according to weather conditions and can be anything from 4-48 hours, however, usually the next day is considered adequate. When green, remove approximately 1-2mm of the surface with a nail float, in an even circular motion, to achieve the scratched texture finish. Render should be dry enough not to stick to the nail float.
  • When dry, brush down with a soft brush to remove any loose material. If scrape patterns or marks are observed, they should be softened by gently scraping or brushing. Loose material that has been scraped from the wall may also be used to repair small blemishes at this stage.

To Achieve a Smooth Finish:

  • A smooth finish is achieved using a suitable float and finished using a dry lining sponge (sponge must be dry for this process).
